"What did they really mess up?"

They 1.00v of the game is a mess. The shorter development window caused all kinds of bugs to slip through, which stinks because 2k is the only series I know of that patches cause the save files to not work with older version of the game. Even the version on PSN is 1.02 this year, because the disc version is so bad.
