    ^ Agree mate.

    2K does definitely need competition.

Personally, I can only give a little bit of constructive criticism.

    - 2K17 introduced more than a handful of animations which negatively affected gameplay. There's excessive bumping by the CPU against human players.

    - 2K17 has a number of hidden CPU stat boosts. CPU moves smoother, able to hit contested step-back 3's with ease, run faster, hustle better.

    - 2K17 on-ball defence is ridiculously powerful. It's to compensate for 2K17's horrendous off-ball defense.

These were just some quick points. 2K17 was a major step backwards from 2K16 in my opinion. Felt like they were very lazy in this development cycle. Embellished a lot of pointless features, but didn't focus on the gritty gameplay that we really need to take another look at.

I hope an upcoming patch can solve these issues.

Agreed but the difference is mind boggling. Honestly I'd be much happier with a matchmaking system rather than the Park. Great concept but with their servers it just doesn't work as well as you'd hope. I assume if we could do 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, 21, 1v1, proam playlists rather than run it all through parks it would help with the lag a lot. We don't really need to see shirtless guys with top hats running around tossing their arms up while we look for a game of online 3v3 do we? Just matchmake and put me in a random game with a server of only 6 people rather than 60!

Xbox 1 owners out here not even being able to start the game without doing random tricks and waiting 10 minutes! Then being told its "normal" for the game to take so long to load hahah.... 2k17 is in no way, shape or form a "mostly successful outing" and this article is as thin as a piece of toilet paper.. smh man.. OS writers why are you guys not digging in a bit deeper these days...

This. I've been wanting matchmaking/lobbies for so long. Having an actual park was a cool idea in theory but it sucks when the servers can't support it. Also, it takes forever to start a game sometimes when squads are taking all the spots or you have 3 people on the get next spots for a whole game then just when the game is about to end somebody steps off and you lose your spot. Plus it's rare you can get a 4 on 4 game going. And idk why 5 on 5 is nonexistent in the park. I know they wanna force Pro Am down our throats but that's a poor excuse.

I felt MyCareer has been the best it's been in years... that is, until 2K wiped MyPlayer due to a server issue, right before Game 7 of the Finals for me.

I hope 2k18 flops. Maybe the devs will get their stick out their *** and make a real game.

This is one of NBA 2K titles that I did not enjoy this year. My frustration and dislike for this game is huge. I'm very skeptical about the future NBA games from 2K.

Bottom line is that NBA 2k17 is a very ambitious title that is held back solely because of it's dated game engine.

Now i'm no game dev, but i have family that works at some pretty known studios. The thing about game engines is that they constantly modify them year after year until it comes a time to where that engine can't carry the game forward anymore. Battlefield moving over the the frostbite engine was a good example of that, and when The other basketball game moves over to the frostbite engine as well there are gonna be some very noticeable improvements.

2K needs to find a way to get this series running on a new engine or it'll be curtains for the series. NBA 2k17 is the worst 2K they've put out. The game feels like it's struggling to keep everything together smoothly. So many of the issues like Ace bone headed defensive breakdowns, player movement, and awareness are all what seems like engine limitations. Just look at how players don't even notice teammates or defenders in their path when running offense. It's a freaking circus out there man.

Overall I've been juggling between nba 2k17 and 2k16. 2k16 in a much smoother game with much better animations and player movement. Body types are miles better on 2k16. menu is a lot better on 16 (small gripe). 2K18 has a lot of work to do, and that's an understatement.

Gameplay is stale and needs a new engine.....love all of the bells and whistles but the on the court action is lackluster. Brain dead AI, poor Grading system for MyPlayer after many years, etc.

NBA 2K17's Run: A Mostly Successful Outing

I always find myself amazed at how 2K after 2K they usually deliver IMO. Even though I feel it's been previous ones better, the games are usually still very good and enjoyable to play.

But for 2K17, this is one of the least enjoyable 2Ks I've ever played besides 2K12. I mean we all know most of the issues and I am not going to list them all but it's been sad how many issues this games has or had mainly because 2K17 has so much potential. Just too many issues and silly decisions like how they implemented archetypes w/ these silly caps in MyCareer. I used to love playing MyCareer but this year, I could barely finish one season. Along w/ all these silly HOF Badges and Grand Badges that turn on like power ups in NBA Street. Just ridiculous decisions all across the board.

I feel us as a community especially the ones that play online, really really need to start getting on 2K HEAVILY about their servers and also the movement gameplay wise. These two things are the biggest reasons I don't even really play 2K anymore. Why can't I fully control myself even offline without 2K pulling my player or making me walk backwards while a player is running past me cutting to the rim? Especially when I have assist on 0. Just give me control of my player. I know we say stuff about the servers, but I think we need to be louder on this.

Ever since I've been playing 2K online, the servers been horrendous. I just don't understand how a company that's making so much money cannot get their servers right. This is the only game that I play where the servers are just terrible most of the time. I can play GTA w/ all these players doing all these different activities w/o as many issues as I have on 2K. We need to demand better servers or hear why after all these years they just can't get it right. So going into 2K18, the two main things I am looking for is more fluid movement and better servers because this year was a major fail in those areas IMO.

                        Think about this tho...honestly...

What is the point in even playing 2k further at this point?

-No pride in beating AI, even on HOF. 109 with Rondo video from SamPham says enough. Blatent AI boosts and default unbalanced sliders make another year of 80% of players frustrated at difficulty level.

-OrlandoInChicago was the first person to reach Legend. Go watch his YT video on his 'reward'. He gets NOTHING. And 2k support says that the reward for Legend 1 was the Jetpack...when it clearly says its a reward for a SS rank. Support also said they have no information as to what immortalized in 2k18 means. Wait...what? Other games would send the first gamer a plaque, certificate, something...2k...legit NOTHING. Orlando legit says DO NOT GRIND FOR THIS ITS NOT WORTH IT. That coming from someone who did it..

-ProAm qualifications are over and I personally can no longer play walk-on with friends.

-MyCareer equals ZERO skill. Can put it on rookie and mindlessly play for magical badges that add boosts. No skill needed to obtain these and no incentive to anything challenging. Play on rookie to get hot spots up so online is money. Actually is not smart to play on anything other than rookie...can just buy VC with real money.

-Online is a joke, and even top Youtubers think so. ManMan, Staxx, Agent, Shakedown, and more...ALL RIP ON 2k GAMEPLAY. Same gameplay for like 5 years. ManMan hates these spam dribblers and said in a video that "nothing in this game means anything. Flicking a stick doen not make you good at basketball." STaxx been said "why am I even playing this game still." Even the people who make money off playing 2k hate it. These dudes should be overjoyed at cheese dribble moves, but they don't. Its boring and literally everyone plays exactly the same online.

In no way, NO WAY WHATSOEVER, does being good/successful at 2k mean you are smart or good with basketball...or EVEN VIDEO GAMES. Its 3 buttons bro, and people act like they just timed a perfect infiltration in CS:GO.

What on earth is the point in putting another hour into this game?

2K is pretty much becoming Madden. No competition so the devs aren't trying as hard and it's starting to show.

Everybody on here has a major valid point! The main question is why is OS “Defending 2K” is it a personal thing? Is the writer who purposely wrote this article knowing how users truly feel about the game and what feedback?

There are plenty of ERRORS with 2K that there’s no reason for me to list it or show it because the general community has already done it.

The title has NBA 2K17’s Run: A Mostly Successful Outing? When it should say thank you very much Jay Z for giving us the most lucrative ideal ever which is VC = Virtual Currency!

Now you wondering why I would put that it’s clear 2K is a business and let’s list down the most successful lucrative modes for 2K?

                            The Modes are?

                            Money
                            MyCAREER
                            MyPARK
                            MyGM
                            MyLEAGUE Online
                            MyTEAM

                            No Money
                            The Association on PS3/Xbox 360
                            Blacktop
                            USA Basketball
                            PNO - Play Now Online

My Career / My Park / Pro-Am – Since everybody doesn’t want to grind out to boost their players to 99+ VC has become the God son savior to the masses that let them pay their way to MAX their players even thou the users paid $60 for the game.

My GM & My Team – another lucrative mode where everybody been dropping money to purchase cards so they can match up with their favorite players and so forth.

Same goes for My league Online

My whole point of this is 2K do care I think! I think they just focus on the business side of the game. Play Now Online / USA Basketball/ Black Top and The Association are all extras which doesn’t bring NO EXTRA money to the company.

Here’s an example I just read today from another user:
                            http://www.operationsports.com/forum...w-gen-h2h.html

So that’s why you will have legacy issues from the past going forward. Does 2K Devs have the time to fix it maybe or maybe not due to their work schedule or time frame to finish each project going forward I don’t know.

I haven’t been a 2K user from the beginning but reading most dedicated players and seeing what they talk about only makes you think when the company will realize that it was the people who brought you to this level. Oh well I’ll cross fingers going forward for 2K18.

I completely understand OS here. The relationship with 2k is important to their business, and more importantly from our point of view, to providing direct access to 2k devs.

OS has nothing to gain from pointing out every single flaw in the game, because everything has been laid out numerous times on the forum, which is why I think it's excusable to allow this slightly pravda-esque game review without throwing our hands in the air and crying about it.

The main problem is that 2K is suffering from a case of Electronic Arts. They spent so much money on outside resources like getting the cover guys, the NBA players to do interviews weekly, the entertainers to do voice work and all of the marketing that went into the game and making the game a micro-transaction paradise, the actual game is an afterthought.

Don't for a second think that whoever is in charge doesn't consider this game a success. Its made and is making more money probably than they ever have.
