Franchise trades
I started a franchise in MLB 14, along with 15 and 16, and I was messing around with trades. I'm playing with the Phillies and I can make a trade for Mike Trout with Ben Revere. I can also trade for Bryce Harper with I forget who, I didn't save it. My question to everyone is: Would you go through with the trades? I know playing with them in franchise would be fun but is it better to play with them or more fun to play against them and make the games fair? I'll probably play through at least a season in all three before 17 comes out. How does everyone handle trades? Make your current roster better or make your team younger and better to improve over the years? Sorry so long but I think it's an interesting topic.Tags: None -

So in your case, if those trades will make your team better and more likely to win, then I say make the trade!I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Franchise trades
Me personally, i evaluate the trade very closely. There are a bunch of things i look that that will benefit both teams and make it as realistic as possible for my own enjoyment of the game.
I look at everything from both team needs. The team i am trading with, do they have a position to fill due to injury? Is that team in rebuilding mode? Are they in a win now situation? Where are they as far as standings go? I look at salaries.
Can't think of anything else at the moment but I'll post if I do.The Positive Sports Podcast~~~Tough Times Don't Last, Tough People Do~~~Ignore The Negativity, Be The PositivityComment

Re: Franchise trades
There is no "better" way to do it, it just depends on where your priorities lie. I try and keep things somewhat realistic and particularly if I'm trading for a big name player I want to make sure I'm sacrificing something of value. Part of what I find fun is building the best team with limited resources and being competitive with other teams around the league. That starts to fade if you can flip spare parts for other team's stars.
However, this game will never be a perfect representation of baseball or the league (but it's damn close). It becomes a lot more fun the faster you accept that and view it as your own little baseball world which is similar in most ways, but different in some, to the real thing. Where that line is drawn for you is personal preference. I'd avoid a trade like that, but if your goal is to build a super team and leave the others in ashes... have at itComment

Re: Franchise trades
I try and keep it as fair and realistic as possible, but obviously that's tough when the computer makes baffling trade after baffling trade. If you don't reign yourself a in a bit though you can easily game the system and end up with the best team of all time without any real effort, but it will screw up the whole game and not be much fun imo.Comment

Re: Franchise trades
Oh I do whatever trade the game lets me get away with. I abused the trade system in 14 and built a monster team. Now, under the new AI, the challenge is how to manage it going forward. It's harder than you might think.Comment

But If you can get them, get them. It's your franchise reality. You are the owner, GM and player. Go for it!Comment

Re: Franchise trades
What you could do is use the thread that has been open all year for discussing trades in MLB 16.
