Great win on the road. The Wave have been on a nice streak lately. Tompkins is playing lights out in the return game lately. That defense of yours is in the words of the old Beelow song saying "I wish you would"

Can I "borrow" your special teams coordinator for a while? And bring Tompkins too.

In all seriousness great win over Auburn and a big one too. Good to see the Wave turnaround at the perfect time heading into the heart of your schedule.

It's also nice seeing Michigan on top of the polls

Long time no see, Geezy! Just checking in with ya. I'm amazed this is still going! Great work you've done here.

I love that you've managed to keep it interesting 14 seasons in. Will be following for sure again.

Thanks man...even though the competition these past couple of weeks hasn't been that great, we are doing what good teams are supposed to do - blowout bad teams. I won't make the mistake of looking past Kentucky, who has played us close in Lexington the past couple of times, and at Tennessee won't be a walk in the park, but we need to just continue building our confidence and momentum ahead of our revenge date with Alabama in a few weeks.

Haha...yeah I never thought in a million years that we'd see a game like that in the punt return game. That's one area that we have never been able to master in my 14 seasons, but three punt return TDs in the past two seasons combined has me feeling rejuvenated in that area. Tompkins is quickly ascending to the title of best return man in Tulane history; I feel like I have Devin Hester back there.

Your Wolverines are looking good, but they have some potential trip-up spots starting in a few weeks with successive rivalry games down the stretch at #20 Michigan St., at #19 Wisconsin and #12 Ohio State at The Big House. I won't get too deep into scenarios yet, but if Tulane is indeed to become the first ever two-loss national title game participant of this 14-year dynasty, Michigan is definitely one of the teams we'll need to lose.

KSW, great to see you back in the fold my friend. Your Tulane dynasty played a big role in inspiring the revival of this project, so I am glad to see you back on board and still around.

I am amazed by how long this dynasty has lasted and I continue to be amazed at how much deeper the stories get as you dive deeper and deeper into dynasty mode. I had never made it past year 6 in my previous dynasties, so this one has been very satisfying.

I think what has kept this thing going has just been the ever-evolving storylines, and most significantly, the roster/seasonal roller-coaster. I would have gotten bored with winning championships over and over with A+ squads and I am glad that the game and recruiting is still challenging in that regard and helps prevent us from becoming too good. We got blown out in week 1 of this season, a year in which I thought we'd be title contenders; I hated it at that moment but in hindsight, that is pretty extrodinary and that game in itself probably extended the life of this dynasty even further.

Heck, it has taken me just as long to get to the national title game in Part II (currently in year 5) as it did with Part I (won first title in year 6). That's amazing to me considering the starting points of both chapters.

Anyway, thanks for checking in man and good luck with your next project!

You know, when I was considering teams to use for my next project, I seriously considered reviving my old Tulane 'chise. The reason I didn't is because I find NCAA 13 virtually unplayable nowadays. NCAA 14 gets so many things right that 13 does not, so it's hard to look back. The thing is though, if I had started that Tulane dynasty on 14, I'd STILL be playing it right now. It was that much fun [emoji38]

Plus I wanted to play in a new part of the world for once. Which brought me to Kansas. Hopefully this new 'chise will have as many highlights as yours has!

Yeah, this thing is all about finding that connection with a team. Tulane has been a dream come true. I really enjoy playing with a team situated around real life cities I am familiar with for recruiting and I also love the uniqueness of playing in a dome. The fact that Tulane has been so terrible all my life growing up in New Orleans makes this one feel that much sweeter, especially now that we've made LSU our whipping-boys.

Playing in Kansas with Wichita St. is going to be quite a challenge. The in-state recruiting there is going to be sparse. You really have your work cut out for you, but as you already know, stories like those are the most fun ones to be a part of in this dynasty reporting business of ours.

Game 7, Year 14 Preview (2023 season): #10 Tulane Green Wave at Kentucky Wildcats

                  GAME 7 PREVIEW

                  Courtesy

Latest Line (courtesy Bovada - Las Vegas):

                  ....................23 1/2....................

2022: Tulane QB Bryce Allen (LEFT) threw for 248 yards and 4 touchdowns last season versus Kentucky while former Wave star RB Buck Johnson III rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown on just 11 carries.

Last Meeting: Then-#1 ranked Tulane found themselves in a tight battle, limping into halftime versus lowly Kentucky with just a 17-10 lead. However, after the halftime break, the Green Wave would reel off 28 unanswered points en route to running away with a 45-10 blowout victory last season at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Then-sophomore QB Bryce Allen threw 4 touchdown passes, 3 of which went to then-sophomore WR Brandon McIntyre, and former Wave RB Buck Johnson III rushed for 122 yards and a score, as Tulane improved to 8-0 on the season.

2021: Former Tulane CB Tim Wright led the Green Wave defense's dominating performance, registering 2 sacks and 1 interception on the night. | RIGHT: MLB Charles Rooney and the Wildcats defense frustrated the Wave all night, as they collected 2 interceptions and 5 sacks as a unit.

Last Meeting at Venue: In what was one of the stranger games of Tulane head coach D. Geezy's tenure, his 10th ranked Green Wave needed very little offensive output on the way to a shockingly close 13-2 victory over Kentucky two seasons ago at Lexington. Playing without former star WR Ryan Jean, the Green Wave got a touchdown pass from then-true freshman QB Bryce Allen to WR Derrick Lindsey to take a 7-0 lead, and that was all the points they needed. The Wave struggled without their injured stud wide out Jean, gaining just 255 yards on the day while surrendering 5 sacks, including a second quarter safety that provided the Wildcats with their only points of the night. Remarkably, Lexington has been a tough place to play for Tulane, as the 11-point margin of victory was its biggest at Kentucky since 2015.

This could be another blowout. Tompkins could have a field day in the run game as well as the return game. If Allen goes off against UK like he did last year it could get real ugly. Their Kicker and Punter rated under 50 Over?? I hope they don't have to depend on them for scores and field position.

They've fluctuated back and forth from D to C+ throughout the course of this dynasty; they just can't seem to get over the hump. I said this a few pages back, but I actually tried to help get both them and Vandy out of their rut by scheduling some FCS games on their out-of-conference schedules to attempt to get them bowl eligible/get their program prestige levels up. It seems to be working somewhat, but it's probably going to take a good 3-4 seasons before we see much improvement on their rosters.

I'll tell you what - I am not going to count my chickens here. Kentucky seems to ALWAYS play us close in Lexington. They're our divisional cross-over rival, so we play them there every other season - we beat them 13-2 the last time we played there, 40-31 the time before that, and 27-24 the time before that. And these were all years where we were very good and they were terrible. If their running back who tore us up last year at the dome gets going early, we could find ourselves in a game.

It'll be interesting to see if Tompkins stays hot in the return game. I feel like I have a young Devin Hester back there and it has certainly made special teams fun again. I'm not doing anything special either, the kid just seems to have "it." He's been one of the more satisfying storylines of our season thus far.

Thanks fellas...time for an early morning kickoff to start the weekend!

Never thought of a hurricane storyline before. Nice touch. As a Midwestern person, the only thing my Wolverines ever need to worry about are snowstorms and floods.

Good luck against Kentucky; by the looks of their roster, they could be as bad, if not worse, than Vanderbilt was.

Ha, glad you liked the Hurricane Ramone angle - that's what TV/movie folks like to call a retcon. It felt weird playing so early on a Saturday morning and when I saw it was going to be a rainy game, I had to think quickly to make it feel normal.

Game 7, Year 14 (2023 season): #10 Tulane Green Wave at Kentucky Wildcats

                                #10 42 -- 5-2 (4-0)
                                N/R 07 -- 1-6 (0-5)

True freshman RT Kyle Gray chest bumps junior WR Brandon McIntyre following McIntyre's first of two touchdown receptions on the day.

Rainy and windy conditions no problem for Green Wave in 42-7 over Kentucky at super-soaked Lexington | QB Allen leads balanced attack as #10 Tulane wins its 5th straight | Freshman DE Pearson has his coming out party, registers 3 sacks on the afternoon versus overwhelmed Wildcats offense | Wave must not overlook next week's trip to Knoxville with home date versus Alabama looming

Lexington, KY -- Coming into Saturday's contest, Tulane's last three games at Kentucky saw them come away with victory-margins no bigger than 11 points. That narrative changed this weekend, despite playing in a torrential downpour due to the effects of Hurricane Ramone, as the Green Wave easily dispatched the Wildcats in a 42-7 blowout. Led by true freshman DE T.J. Pearson's three sack performance, the Tulane defense was absolutely dominant all afternoon, holding the Wildcats to only 210 total yards and one touchdown as the team won its fifth straight game following an 0-2 start to the season.

The Kentucky offensive line was no match for freshman DE T.J. Pearson as the former blue chip recruit finished the afternoon with 3 sacks on the day.

The Green Wave offense set the tone for the day early. Led by QB Bryce Allen, the Wave went on an 11-play 71-yard opening drive that took up nearly half of the first quarter and culminated with a 12-yard touchdown pass to WR Brandon McIntyre that gave them an early 7-0 lead.

The same pair would hook up again early in the second quarter for a 15-yard touchdown that extended the lead to 14-0. Allen finished the game 16 of 23 for 259 yards along with the 2 scores and no interceptions while McIntyre finished with 8 receptions for 146 yards, which were season-highs.

Kentucky (1-6) would get as close as a one touchdown deficit after RB Jacob Thomas' 10-yard run culminated with a dive into the end zone that made the score 14-7 and a big stop by the Wildcats' defense on their next drive seemingly gave them even more momentum.

Up 14-7, Tulane took their ensuing possession deep into the Kentucky red zone and were set to put more points on the board. However after a nice run, RB Tony Tompkins lost his grasp on the wet football, seeing it jarred loose by Kentucky DE Andre Hendrix before FS Ryan Thompson recovered it at the 2-yard line.

"Ball security is something we paid close attention to due to today's conditions and they made a play, plain and simple," said Tulane head coach D. Geezy.

Fortunately for the Wave, the blunder would not cost them.

One play after Tompkins' turnover, Wave OLB Chuckie Coley came on a run blitz and brought down Thomas behind the line of scrimmage and in the end zone for a safety, making the score 16-7.

Later in the second quarter, already up 19-7 following a 20-yard field by freshman PK Aaron Larson, Tompkins made up for his earlier error. His 7-yard touchdown run with just seconds remaining in the first half extended the Green Wave lead to 26-7, and the route was on.

Senior RB Tim Powers pounds his chest following a 6-yard carry that put him over the 100-yard mark for the first time this season after Geezy allowed him to stay in the game early in the fourth quarter.
Reminiscent of Tompkins' earlier mistake, Allen's fumble near the goal line after a 10-yard scramble in the third quarter nearly resulted in another red zone disaster, however this time WR Jason Mason was there to corral the loose football in the end zone to extend the lead to 36-7.

"The funny part about that play is that it was a pass play designed to hit Jason on a post pattern in the end zone," said Tulane offensive coordinator Curtis Byrd.

"The play ended up getting to him anyway, but just not the way we drew it up."

Tulane would get 3 second half field goals by Larson and was able to control the clock behind the rushing of senior RB Tim Powers, who finished with 15 carries for a season-high 101 rushing yards, only the second 100-yard game of his career. The team rested most of its starters in the fourth quarter.

The Green Wave (5-2) will travel to face Tennessee (3-4) next week in Knoxville. The Wave defeated the Vols last season 42-21 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The team will be hoping to avoid the proverbial "trap game," with #4 Alabama set to visit New Orleans the following weekend.

Sophomore RB Tony Tompkins celebrates his 7-yard touchdown run that made the score 26-7 just before halftime.

Despite the threat of category-1 Hurricane Ramone, Kentucky fans braved the treacherous conditions Saturday.

On the game's opening possession, Tulane QB Bryce Allen scrambled on this early third down attempt and threw the ball on the run, hitting WR Brandon McIntyre in-stride for a first down.

Kentucky senior RB Jacob Thomas' emphatic dive into the end zone at the end of a 10-yard run cut his team's deficit to 14-7 early in the second quarter, however it would be the Wildcats' only points of the day.

Freshman DE T.J. Pearson celebrates after OLB Chuckie Coley tackled Thomas in the end zone for a second quarter safety.

Green Wave nickel CB/S Jonathan Smith continues to always find himself in the right place, this time picking off a pass on the very first play of the third quarter for his second career interception.

Sophomore RB Tony Tompkins ran a 15-yard out pattern from the slot receiver position and caught a wide open pass before promptly darting through the Wildcats' secondary for a 42-yard second half gain.

One of the lone bright spots for Kentucky was the play of senior DE Andre Hendrix, who sacked Allen twice on the day.

Green Wave TE Ronnie Parsons was drilled by FS Ryan Thompson, but not before hauling in a 30-yard reception.

Soaked Kentucky players and coaches head to the locker room, miserable after dropping its 10th straight game to Tulane.
