Eve Jewell of TulaneInsider.com reports that Tulane starting DT Mikeangelo Daniels (90 ovr) and starting FS LeCharles Smith Jr. (83 ovr) have both been suspended one game due to a violation of team rules and will miss the Wave's week 10 game at Tennessee. According to Jewell's on-campus sources, the violation stems from a failure of both players to adhere to the team's dorm room curfew rules on multiple occassions.

"Those two guys are roomates and let's just say they like to party. They're both always frequenting clubs and the female dorms and sometimes they stay out a little too late and miss bed check," said the source, who asked not to be identified.

"These are both good kids, but they both have to realize that they're not above the team."

Junior DT Sammie Jenkins (85 ovr) and true freshman FS Terrell Faulk (70) will replace the pair in Tulane's starting lineup.

Tulane | Tulane announces football contracts with Ohio St. and TCU

Olivia Harlan of ESPN.com reports that Tulane University announced on Wednesday that the school has entered into football scheduling contracts with both Ohio St. and TCU.

The Green Wave will face the Horned Frogs next season on the road and will host them at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in 2025. The two schools have not met in football since 2004, and Tulane is 4-8 all-time versus TCU.

The Wave will host the Buckeyes at home in 2025, and will make their first ever appearance in Columbus in 2026. Tulane has never faced Ohio St. in football.

The announcement rounds out Tulane's out-of-conference schedules for each of the next two seasons (dates and times will be released at a later date):

Game 8, Year 14 Preview (2023 season): #11 Tulane Green Wave at Tennessee Volunteers

2022: QB Bryce Allen finished the night 15 of 30 for 354 yards and 5 touchdowns in last season's contest. His primary target was former Wave WR Derrick Lindsey (RIGHT), who finished with a season-high 171 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Last Meeting: Then-#2 ranked Tulane amassed a 28-0 halftime lead on their way to running away with a 42-21 victory over then-#24 ranked Tennessee last season at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Sophomore QB Bryce Allen's 354 passing yards and 5 touchdowns were too much for the Volunteers to overcome. The Vols would make it a 35-21 game late, however Allen's school-record 97-yard touchdown pass to former Wave WR Derrick Lindsey put the game away with 3:54 remaining.

2018: Former Tulane FB Marcus Young beat former Tennessee MLB John Copeland on a wheel route for a career-long 35-yard touchdown reception which made the score 7-0 early in the first quarter. The score was the first of two touchdown catches by Young on the afternoon.

Last Meeting at Venue: Former Green Wave star QB Jamie Manning torched the Tennessee secondary for 326 yards and 5 touchdown passes as the #4 ranked Green Wave blew out unranked Tennessee 45-13 in 2018 at Knoxville. Former Wave WR Brandon McNeil led the Tulane with 4 receptions for 134 yards and former FB Marcus Young hauled in two touchdown passes as their team improved to 8-0 on the way to the program's one and only undefeated BCS national title season.

Despite being put on the ropes by unranked Tennessee, #11 Tulane comes away with a razor-thin 33-32 victory but it proves costly as QB Allen and WR McIntyre each go down with injuries; Allen observed with arm in sling after the game | Big plays on offense and defense in crunch time help Wave avoid Volunteers' upset bid | Allen and McIntyre both to undergo MRIs early this week, however sources indicate both players' status in doubt for next week's pivotal home tilt versus #4 Alabama that could decide SEC West

Knoxville, TN -- #11 Tulane got all it could handle and more from underdog Tennessee, but in the end the visiting Green Wave were able to get just enough big plays to come away with a very close 33-32 victory Saturday evening in Knoxville. In a game that featured 5 second half lead changes, Wave senior RB Tim Powers' 73-yard touchdown run with 3:37 to play provided the game winning points, however excitement for the win was tempered. There were a handful of smiling faces, but the subdued post-game locker room atmosphere said it all as the team may have lost both starting QB Bryce Allen and top WR Brandon McIntyre for an extended period of time in the process of winning its sixth straight contest this season following an 0-2 start.

Tennessee freshman DE Drew Daniels' 4.40 speed off the edge gave Tulane fits all game long as he sacked QB Bryce Allen twice on the day and also had a hit that resulted in Allen's injury later in the game.

Tulane got off to a hot start Saturday, going on a 7-play 62-yard drive to open the game. Allen's 16-yard touchdown pass to TE Ronnie Parsons gave the Green Wave an early 7-0 lead, and it appeared Wave would be set to coast.

Tennessee had other plans however. Volunteers senior QB James Williams' 19-yard touchdown pass to WR Keith Joseph after he got behind FS Terrell Faulk, who was making his first career start, tied the game up at 7-7 late in the first quarter. The Vols defense would then lock down Tulane's offense the rest of the first half before getting a 23-yard field goal from PK Charles Dawson which gave the 15 1/2 point underdogs a stunning 10-7 halftime lead.

After a defensive struggle between the two teams in the first half, the third quarter is when the fireworks began.

Green Wave junior OLB Chuckie Coley's interception on the first play of the second half set his team up with possession of the football at the Volunteers 41-yard line right out of the gates. Four plays later, Allen's 10-yard touchdown pass to H-back Carl Booker out of the backfield gave the Wave a 14-10 lead. It was the former 4-star athlete recruit that plays both fullback and tight end's first touchdown of his career.

Tennessee would turn the ball over again on their very next possession. This time, Wave DE T.J. Pearson would strip Vols RB Jonathan Hall of the football and junior CB D.J. Keyes recovered, once again setting Tulane up with possession in Tennessee territory. Three plays later, Allen's 12-yard touchdown pass to WR Brandon McIntyre concluded 31-yard drive and gave their team a 21-10 lead.

Tulane's defense collected two turnovers less than two minutes into the third quarter and the Wave ended up with an 11-point lead as a result. Unfortunately, a reversal of fortune quickly came - After Tennessee responded to its deficit by having its offense go on a 10-play 78-yard march that culminated with an 18-yard touchdown pass from Williams to WR Ryan Newsome that cut the deficit to 21-17, the tables turned.

First, on the opening play of Tulane's ensuing possession after scrambling for a first down, Allen was stripped of the football by Vols MLB Lorenzo Davis and DE Daniel Richard recovered deep in Wave territory. The turnover led to a 29-yard field goal by Dawson that cut his team's deficit to 21-20.

Then, on the Wave's next possession, sophomore RB Tony Tompkins would get stripped by Davis, and this time Volunteers OLB Darren Ewing recovered at the Tulane 28-yard line. A few plays later, Williams' found a bust in Tulane's coverage and hit a wide open FB James Rodgers in the flat for a 19-yard touchdown that gave the Vols a 26-21 lead following a missed two point conversion.

QB James Williams was red-hot all evening long and finished the game 20 of 26 for 310 yards and 4 touchdowns, however his 3 interceptions proved costly for the Vols.

"(SS Brandon) Davidson was responsible for the fullback there and he thought he read that the fullback was staying in to block so he came on a blitz. Well, he didn't stay in to block so that left him wide open for probably the easiest touchdown of that guy's career," said Wave defensive coordinator Steve Ellis of the busted coverage.

On Tulane's very next drive is when the first of two injury disasters struck. Allen's 56-yard completion to a leaping McIntyre set to Green Wave up deep in Vols territory and led to a 35-yard field goal by PK Aaron Larson to cut the Wave deficit to 26-24. The big play came with a price however as McIntyre stayed on the ground to be looked at by trainers and never returned to the game. He finished the evening with 4 receptions for 117 yards.

The Volunteers would turn it over yet again on its next drive early in the fourth quarter. Williams attempted to hit WR Ryan Newsome down the seam, however Keyes was able to collect his second turnover of the game, catching a juggling interception near midfield. His play would lead to a 29-yard field goal by Larson which allowed Tulane to re-claim a 27-26 lead. Once again though, disaster struck on the drive as Allen was forced to leave the game with an apparent shoulder injury after being hit by Vols DE Drew Daniels while throwing away a pass with 7:41 remaining.

"We'll evaluate both players these next couple of days and Allen specifically has an MRI scheduled, but until then we have no further info," said Tulane head coach D. Geezy, though a source indicated Allen was seen after the game with his arm in a sling along with a large bag of ice on his throwing shoulder.

Tennessee (3-5) would later go on a 12-play drive and got a spectacular diving reception by WR Joe Terrell to give his team the lead back at 32-27. It was Williams' fourth touchdown pass of the game, and he finished the evening 20 of 26 for 310 yards, the most allowed by the Tulane defense so far this season.

With the game on the line, the Green Wave would be forced to put the game into the hands of sophomore backup QB Obi Clemons, a former 3-star recruit from Sulphur, Louisiana. The 5-11 former high school option quarterback would not need to do much however, as RB Tim Powers took all the pressure off. Powers' aforementioned 73-yard touchdown burst on the very first play of Clemons' potentially heroic game-winning drive made the score 33-32 with 3:37 to go.

"The blocking was absolutely superb and Tim made a great play to find the open lanes," said offensive coordinator Curtis Byrd of Powers, who finished with a career-high 129 rushing yards, his second straight 100-yard game this year.

The Vols got one last opportunity to win the game, down by one. Williams led a long 8-play drive which penetrated all the way to the Tulane 20-yard line, well in field goal range for Dawson. However the senior signal caller's pass attempt to Hall in the flat would get picked off by reserve SS La'Roi Brown and was returned all the way to the Vols 13-yard line with 1:49 remaining.

Despite having a clear path to the end zone, RB Tim Powers smartly allowed himself to be tackled after getting the game-clinching first down with 1:44 remaining, forcing the Vols to call their final timeout and allowing his team to run out the clock.

"Brown was in there subbing for Davidson, who was gassed. That was the first interception of Brown's career and I was pretty jacked about him stepping up on that play," said Ellis of the former 3-star recruit, who along with Powers reportedly got a game ball from Geezy after the game.

"We all were clownin' his a** about being chased down by Hall and not scoring, but it ended up working out for us."

And that it did - After the big turnover, Tulane would be able to salt away the win behind the running and smart play of Powers. The senior capped off a 4-yard run on 3rd and 3 by purposely covering the ball up and allowing himself to be tackled rather than running in for an easy touchdown, giving his team a first down and allowing them to run out the rest of the clock on kneel-downs.

"Coach D. told me during the timeout that they were probably going to let me score there and he told me not to let that happen. Sure enough, they did and I could have walked into the end zone, but I wasn't going to let that happen," said Powers.

The win for Tulane sets up a do-or-die matchup next week versus #4 Alabama (9-0) at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The Green Wave will be looking to avenge last season's 42-31 loss to the Crimson Tide in last season's "Tidal Wave Party" matchup at Tuscaloosa. A win for the Tide would clinch their second straight SEC West title, however a Wave victory would put Tulane in position to win the West by winning either of its final two SEC games this season (at Arkansas, home versus Ole Miss). Despite being coy about the players' injury status, Geezy did concede that his team will need players to step up in Allen and McIntyre's likely absences.

"I'm not going to get into specifics until later in the week, but we're certainly going to have to play better defensively and Powers and Tompkins are going to have to come up big for us here," said Geezy.

"This is a team game and for us, if we want to keep this thing rolling, we have to have the attitude of 'next man up'."

Thanks Bookwork...We will certainly have a different look with that pair out of the game. Maybe a few more QB runs and option plays will be worked in as we will definitely be more run oriented as well as "defensive-minded" on offense. Yeah, it sucks, but I welcome any sort of adversity we can get in this dynasty report business and I am looking forward to the change of pace these next several games.

No question - this is the biggest game we will play this year. Everything is on the line - the SEC West division title, as well as our desperation hopes of becoming the first two-loss team to play for the national title in this dynasty to-date. Losing Allen and McIntyre has caused us to maybe pump the brakes a bit on the national title talk, but the division championship is right in front of us if we can get this W.

I wasn't going to do a Deuce update, since he is ineligible for this game, but as you'll see in a moment, you inspired me to throw something together real quick.

My god Florida has been dominant in the east division. 372 points scored and only 90 given up through 9 games is incredible.

No kidding - they are on quite a run. Glancing at their remaining schedule, they have Vandy (3-5), at #23 South Carolina (6-2), and rival Florida St. (4-4) left. Those last two games could be problems for them, but the way they're playing, I see them running the table.

Maybe we'll see them down the road in the SEC title game if we make it!

Dianna Russini of ESPN.com reports that Tulane head coach D. Geezy disclosed to her during a private late night office meeting (ahem) that junior QB Bryce Allen (89 ovr) and junior WR Brandon McIntyre (90) each could be lost for the remainder of the 2023 regular season.

Backup redshirt sophomore QB Obi Clemons, 5-11 182 pounds, has thrown for 255 and 2 touchdowns in spot duty this season. The former high school option quarterback with 4.5 speed will be Tulane's starter the remainder of the regular season.

According to Geezy, Allen was flown out to Alabama to visit Dr. James Andrews and an examination revealed that he has a partial tear in his right labrum, an injury which forced him to exit this past Saturday's 33-32 victory over Tennessee. The former blue chip recruit's injury is expected to heal on its own and surgery will not be required, but Geezy was not coy about Allen's timetable for returning.

"Unfortunately Bryce will be shut down for the remainder of this regular season, as he is looking at about a 5 to 7 week recovery period, at least. There is a chance he could return in time for the postseason, but that is still up in the air," Geezy told Russini during their Monday night escapade.

Redshirt sophomore backup QB Obi Clemons (75 ovr) will take over for Allen in the lineup.

McIntyre, on the other hand, was diagnosed with a torn oblique muscle. He is expected to miss anywhere between 3 and 5 weeks. The Prien, Louisiana native and former 4-star recruit is Tulane's leading receiver this season, hauling in 35 receptions for 759 yards and 8 touchdowns through eight games.

"We're losing a lot of juice here but I have confidence that we have the pieces in place to overcome these losses," said Geezy.

"Maybe our play style may change a bit, but a player like Obi also gives you a little more flexibility in terms of QB runs and such, as he is a little better with his legs than Bryce is.

"Injuries are an unfortunate part of our game. It is up to us as coaches to do what we have to do to make sure the transition doesn't have a negative impact; that said, losing your starting quarterback and number 1 wideout is always a tough deal."

Molly McGrath of ESPN.com reports that former Tulane RB Deuce Monroe (86 ovr), who transferred to Alabama this past off-season and is currently ineligible to play, has not been shy about helping out his new team as it prepares to face the Green Wave this weekend at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Monroe, a former 4-star recruit from Boaz, Alabama, led the Wave last season with 1,310 all-purpose yards and finished the season with 9 touchdowns as a true freshman before leaving to join his home state Crimson Tide. Though he is ineligible to play this season due to NCAA transfer rules, Monroe has played an instrumental part in helping his new team prepare.

"I've been playing as the scout team running back this week, playing the role of Tony Tompkins, my backup last year," said Monroe, who hauled in 8 receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown for the Wave during the Crimson Tide's 42-31 victory over the Wave last season at Tuscaloosa.

"They changed offenses since when I was there but I know that team front and back and where we need to attack.

"I wasn't too happy with some of the things that were said about me when I left and I sure wish I was playing this week. They have theirs coming, but for now, I just have to do my part to make sure my team is ready to get this big win."

Eve Jewell of TulaneInsider.com reports that the Tulane Green Wave received a commitment this week from 3-star Alaska OT Matthew Cole (6-4, 275, #108 rated OT prospect), bringing their total number of commitments this year to 7. Cole, a junior college prospect, could find himself playing quickly for the Wave next fall, as they are set to lose at least two starting offensive lineman this off-season to graduation. He was scheduled to visit the Tulane campus for this weekend's game versus Alabama, but chose to commit prior to his trip.

The team is set to host two other players this week however - Texas DT Alexander Ford (6-4, 259 pounds, #50 rated DT prospect) while Ohio OT Calvin Smith (6-4, 279 pounds, #62 rated OT prospect) is expected to visit the Tulane campus "in a few weeks," according to sources. With only 10 scholarships available currently for next season, Smith and Ford are the final two players on the team's recruiting board for now, according to Jewell's sources, though that could change in the off-season should the Wave lose any players to the NFL and/or transfers.

2022: Tulane CB Tyler Harrison mistimed his jump as QB Jimmy Sutton's pass landed in the hands of freshman WR Adam Bell who took it the distance from 80 yards out for what would end up being the game-winning points with 2:51 remaining.

Last Meeting: Last season, then-#1 ranked Tulane marched into Tuscaloosa to face #9 Alabama riding a 7-game winning streak over their SEC West Division rivals along with an undefeated 8-0 record on the year. That all came to a screeching halt that night, as the Crimson Tide made big plays late to come away with a 42-31 victory which eventually led to the Tide winning the SEC West Division for the first time since 2014. After Tulane grabbed a late lead via former Wave FB Eric Harrell's 1-yard touchdown run with 3:26 remaining, Alabama re-claimed the lead via an 80-yard touchdown pass from QB Jimmy Sutton to WR Adam Bell that made the score 35-31. On Tulane's ensuing possession, Alabama DB/LB Derek Rutledge's interception with just over two minutes remaining led to a game-clinching touchdown pass by Sutton with 1:48 remaining, putting the game out of reach at 42-31.

2021: LEFT - Playing in place of injured senior FS Lee Palmer, true freshman FS LeCharles Smith Jr.'s interception in the end zone in overtime #3 put Tulane in position to kick the game-winning field goal. | RIGHT - PK Chris Coleman delivered on this 43-yard field goal attempt, lifting the Green Wave to a signature 45-42 victory over #2 Alabama.

Last Meeting at Venue: In what was one of the defining chapters of Tulane head coach D. Geezy's 14-year tenure at Tulane, both his 7th ranked Green Wave and arch-rival #2 ranked Alabama made clutch play after clutch play. In the end however, it was Geezy's team that came out on top with a thrilling 45-42 triple overtime victory two seasons ago at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Wave then-junior RB Buck Johnson III rushed 17 times for 89 yards and 2 touchdowns, with both scores coming in the extra sessions. In the game's third and final overtime period, Green Wave then-true freshman FS LeCharles Smith Jr., playing in place of injured senior FS Lee Palmer, intercepted Alabama QB Jimmy Sutton's pass attempt into the end zone, setting up former Wave PK Chris Coleman's game-winning 43-yard field goal on the final play of the sensational, back and forth contest.

Head Coach D. Geezy's Take

Tulane head coach D. Geezy addressed the media at his weekly press conference Thursday morning.

Alabama versus Tulane with the SEC West on the line sure sounds like a familiar tune every single year. This year is a little different than normal, in that our starting QB Bryce Allen (89 ovr) is out as well as our top WR Brandon McIntyre (90 ovr).

GREENOUT: As is tradition, Geezy indicated that his team will be wearing their all-green uniforms and has asked all fans planning to attend to wear green for Saturday's rivalry game matchup.

In a lot of ways, this reminds me of our 2015 team and our game that year versus Alabama, which little did we know was the starting point what would eventually become an annual rivalry game.

It was almost a decade ago, but I remember it quite vividly. Bama had won the previous 6 SEC titles coming into the game. Our starting quarterback that year was Anthony High, and he was injured the week before the Alabama game. Not only that, but our top playmaker on offense, the legendary RB Reggie Moore, also missed the game with an injury. But that day, we showed up and played one of our finest game's defensively in my time here, our starting quarterback that day, Chris Moore, did not try to do too much and played an efficient game, and our third string RB William Archer played the game of his life, rushing for 134 yards and a game-tying 60-yard fourth quarter touchdown. Our old PK Cody Bennett drilled a 44-yard field goal as time expired for us to win 13-10. Was it pretty? No. But we found a way to put together a good, team game, and went on to win our first ever SEC championship that year.

That was essentially the day Tulane became "that team" in the SEC, and we'd go on to win not just the conference title that year, but also the next four conference titles after that - it was done with injuries to our quarterback and best player on offense, but guys just stepped up and did what was needed.

We need the dome to be rocking like it was that day 8 seasons ago and we need our new QB Obi Clemons (73 ovr) to not try to do too much while at the same time not being afraid to be himself. We have some new offensive packages installed for this one to take advantage of his speed, but for the most part, we will be running our offense with maybe a slightly extra emphasis on ball control.

As long as we play within ourselves offensively and play good, sound defense and maybe get some nice plays by Tony Tompkins in the return game, we can come away with a victory.

Yeah the all-green is definitely my favorite. We only wear them once or twice a year. We have a very long winning streak when wearing them, but I'm not going to lie, looking at the Bama roster, that streak may be in jeopardy.

You're right - the green helmets, white pants combo is slick too. In this dynasty universe, I guess that look would be classified as our "Conference USA throwbacks." In fact, that's what we wore in game 5 of this dynasty, which was the first victory of the Coach Geezy era:

Game 9, Year 14 (2023 season): #4 Alabama Crimson Tide at #10 Tulane Green Wave

QB Obi Clemons stepped up when his team needed it the most. After a playaction fake to RB Tim Powers, his 72-yard touchdown completion to WR Jason Mason provided the game-winning points for Tulane, who is now one win away from an SEC West division title.

Led by an unlikely trio, #10 Tulane overcomes early deficit to take down #4 Alabama, assumes control of SEC West | QB Clemons, RB Powers, and WR Mason all come up with career performances as Wave extends their winning streak to 7 | Missed field goals, late defensive gaffe by DE Kelly costs Crimson Tide late | Tulane can clinch SEC West division title with win next week at #15 Arkansas

New Orleans, LA -- Eight seasons ago, in their second season back in the SEC, Tulane faced Alabama without its starting quarterback and top offensive passing target but was able to get big plays from backups to come away with a three point win that eventually led to a conference title. Fast-forward to 2023, and history repeated itself as the #10 ranked Green Wave, led by backup QB Obi Clemons and new top WR Jason Mason, came back from a first half deficit to knock off the #4 ranked Crimson Tide 27-24 Saturday afternoon at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Backup RB Tim Powers also stepped up on the big stage, rushing for a career-high 152 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns, just as former Wave third string RB William Archer had a career performance in that aforementioned 13-10 victory over the Tide in 2015.

Just like last season, RB Cameron Miller gashed the Tulane defense, this time for 200 yards on the ground and 2 touchdowns, including this 81-yard score on the game's very first play from scrimmage.

The contest got off to a precarious start for Tulane, who was playing without starting QB Bryce Allen and #1 WR Brandon McIntyre due to injuries sustained last week. Alabama RB Cameron Miller broke a tackle behind the line of scrimmage before breaking loose for an 81-yard touchdown on the game's very first play from scrimmage, giving the Tide a lightning-quick 7-0 lead.

After forcing a Green Wave punt, Alabama got the ball back again and went on a methodical 10-play drive, benefiting from the nifty running of Miller. The possession would culminate when the junior Heisman Trophy candidate dove into the end zone to cap off a 5-yard run that increased his team's lead to 14-0. Miller, who ended the game with exactly 200 rushing yards on only 18 carries, had 5 rushes for 115 yards and 2 touchdowns in the first quarter alone. Miller's performance was very reminiscent of last year's versus the Green Wave, when he rushed for 167 yards and two scores in the Crimson Tide's 42-31 upset victory over the then-top ranked Wave in Tuscaloosa.

Tulane finally got on the board when Powers took a handoff from Clemons 78 yards for his first touchdown of the game to cut his team's deficit to 14-7. Then, on the ensuing kickoff, Wave LB Mario Young caused Alabama WR/KR Matt Thompson to fumble the ball and CB Brian Malone recovered it, leading to a 27-yard field goal by PK Aaron Larson to make the score 14-10.

Unfortunately, that sequence would be one of very few first half highlights for the Wave, as they'd turn the ball over on each of their next three possessions, with Clemons accounting for all three turnovers. His interception thrown to LB Gary Fraser while being hit would turn into a short 6-yard touchdown return that gave Alabama a 24-10 lead.

Clemons' ill-advised option pitch to RB Tony Tompkins was recovered by Fraser later in the second quarter, however Alabama was unable to capitalize as redshirt freshman PK Max Holley missed a 45-yard field goal off the left upright that could have extended his team's lead to 27-10 - and it was a sign of things to come for the young kicker.

After a slow start to the season, RB Tim Powers has rushed for over 100 yards and three straight games. His 152 yards on the ground Saturday were a career-high, besting his previous career-high of 129 set just one week ago.

After Larson's successful 46-yard field goal to cut the deficit to 24-13 on the final play of the first half, Clemons would bounce back in the second half. His well-timed option pitch to Powers resulted in a 15-yard touchdown that concluded a 10-play 72-yard drive and cut Alabama's lead to 24-20 with 2:28 to go in the third quarter.

"We knew we'd be able to get some good looks in the option game this week," said Tulane offensive coordinator Curtis Byrd.

"We watched a lot of high school tape this week of Clemons and the option was one of many things he did well. We also watched a lot of old Tulane tape, tape of myself actually, back when we used to run a lot of option here. It helped us to get a better of idea of what we can do to help take advantage of Obi's legs. We knew there would be some growing pains, but that touchdown really showed us how dangerous we can be when we get that package rolling."

Early in the fourth quarter, Holley would record his second miss of the day when his 44-yard attempt sailed wide right, keeping the score at 24-20 with 8:13 remaining.

Two plays after the miss, Clemons' 72-yard touchdown pass to Mason following playaction to Powers gave the Wave their first lead of the game at 27-24 with 7:36 to go. Clemons finished with a career-high 278 passing yards, despite the early turnover woes; and with normal #1 WR Brandon McIntyre out nursing an abdominal injury, Mason finished the game with 8 receptions for 165 yards, both career-highs.

"I am so proud of Mase. He's taken a lot of scrutiny and I am glad to see him finally have a true breakout game," said Tulane head coach D. Geezy of the former blue chip #1 high school wide receiver prospect who to this point had not lived up to his lofty expectations coming out of high school.

"The play itself was set up beautifully, and that came as a result of us running the ball well. (Alabama CB) Lewis Jones bit hard on the fake, Mase blew right past him, and Obi hit him with a perfectly placed ball."

Alabama (9-1) would have two more opportunities to either tie the game or re-claim the lead.

Their first chance came on the next possession following Mason's score, however Holley's 57-yard field goal attempt fell just short of the crossbar, giving the ball back to the Wave with just under six minutes to go. The usually reliable Holley finished the game just 1 of 4 on field goal attempts despite coming into the game 17 of 21 on the year.

Junior WR Jason Mason, who has played second-fiddle to junior WR Brandon McIntyre most of his career, hauled in a career-high 8 receptions for 165 yards and the game-winning touchdown with McIntyre out.

After stalling on their next possession, Tulane got a big play out of its special teams when P Terry Alexander's punt would get downed at the 1-yard line with 4:14 remaining.

Two plays later, sophomore CB Tyler Harrison, who held Alabama's top WR Matthew Pratt without a catch, hauled in QB Jason Harrington's deep pass attempt into double-coverage for an interception, giving the Green Wave the ball at the Crimson Tide 40-yard line. Harrison's first interception of the season came with 3:42 remaining, and it was the last time the Tide would see the football.

Behind the legs of Powers, Tulane was able to milk the remaining time on the clock. Clemons also came up with a big play on the game-clinching drive, hitting redshirt sophomore WR Lionel Parks for a 22-yard completion on 3rd and 19, giving the Wave a first down at the Alabama 11-yard line with under two minutes remaining.

A few plays later, the game eventually came down to a 4th and 1 attempt from the Crimson Tide 2-yard line with one minute remaining and the Tide out of timeouts, and Geezy would elect to go for it. With the offense lined up in a strong-I formation with Powers in at fullback, Clemons came up to the line of scrimmage and hard-counted once, and it successfully drew Alabama DE Anthony Kelly over the line of scrimmage for an encroachment penalty, giving Tulane a first down to clinch the game.

"We had a play called there and we were definitely going to run it, but we were able to bait them there and pick up the easy first down," said Geezy.

"We've probably attempted that 20 times during my tenure at crucial moments and that was the first time it actually worked."

The win for Tulane puts them at 6-0 in SEC play this season. They can clinch the SEC West division with a win in either of its final two SEC matchups this season - at Arkansas (6-3) or at home versus Ole Miss (5-4).

The Green Wave will travel to Fayetville to face the 15th ranked Razorbacks next week. The Wave narrowly defeated Arkansas 20-17 last season at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Each of the two teams' past three meetings have been decided by 7 points or less while Arkansas is also responsible for the largest defeat ever for Tulane under Geezy, a 62-27 blowout loss at Fayetville in 2019.

QB Obi Clemons and WR Jason Mason, both thrust into new roles this week, led the Green Wave out of the tunnel to start the game.




Alabama RB Cameron Miller's diving 5-yard touchdown was his second of two scores in the game's opening quarter and he finished the contest with 229 yards from scrimmage.




Speedy Alabama hybrid LB/DB Derek Rutledge shadowed RB Tony Tompkins all game long and helped hold the sophomore to just 63 yards from scrimmage.
