Re: MLB The Show 17 Video - Gameplay Changes, No PlayStation VR Support This Year
If this is true, I really hope they can fix the Angels' belts. They're still black in game, but the team switched to red 3 years ago. I've brought it up on a few occasions, but it'll still just illicit the old style guide response.Originally posted by jimmy13 -

I disagree. I found Allstar to be absurdly easy out of the box. The CPU has no urgency whatsoever. I play on Legend and it easily takes a month to get the sliders the way I want them to play. The hype is real. Sliders on this game work better than any other sports game bar none.
The reason? Because default All-Star is so finely tuned out of the box, it takes minor tweaks to get the game playing the way I want it via some slider adjustments.
It literally takes me 4-5 days and a couple of dozen games and I am done for the entire cycle with slider settings (typically unless some major gameplay patch drops which has not really been the case for several years now).Comment

I feel that pitching is way too easy on anything that is not HoF out of the box. Hitting I feel is too easy on anything below All-Star, but then its frustratingly hard on anything above it too.
Sliders are a big part of this game, more than any other sports franchise I play. It probably has a lot to do with the fact baseball is my favorite sport so I notice when things are not "real" compared to when I play lets say, soccer...my least favorite sport IRL.Comment

I was not trying to say All-Star is the end all, but for most of us? It is the level of choice. And being that the game is tuned to All-Star out of the box it makes slider creation for All-Star a breeze. When you start moving up to HOF and Legend...more work is involved naturally.I feel that pitching is way too easy on anything that is not HoF out of the box. That was my point.
And yes sliders for this game are awesome and I notice everything being that baseball is also by far my favorite sport both to play (IRL and on the console), watch and coach. Now Playing on PS5:

Re: MLB The Show 17 Video - Gameplay Changes, No PlayStation VR Support This Year
I dig the caps being in. Like having those Alternate caps.
What I question is -- are the ST jerseys even in the Style Guide? Something tells me with all the effort SDS put in this year on the Uniforms, that if the ST jerseys were in the Style Guide, they would've been put in the game.
In most cases, like the Rangers, Astros, Mariners, A's, Angels, Twins, Indians, Royals, Blue Jays, Rays, Red Sox, Orioles, Giants, Rockies, D'Backs, Padres, Cubs, Brewers, Reds, Pirates, Marlins, Mets, Nationals & Phillies -- all of their ST jerseys, are actually in game as Alternates. They just don't have the ST logo, but the jerseys are there for the most part.
The teams that are hurt potentially by the lack of ST jerseys are teams like the White Sox, Tigers, Yankees, Dodgers & Braves. The White Sox have a black jersey alternate in the game, but their ST jersey is black with the 1980s-style logo. The Tigers & Yankees both have TWO ST jerseys, a home & road version, and i'm hoping they'll be in game as their alternates, being they don't have an alternate in real life, but have a slot. The Braves ST jersey is basically their Road alternate, but with 'Braves' across the front, instead of 'Atlanta'.
Like I said before, the lack of ST jerseys is a big hit mostly on the Yankees & Tigers. Hopefully they found a way in there as alternates for those teams. It's gonna suck if those two just have two jerseys in the game, home white and road gray, and basically nothing else than just different iterations of white & grey.Comment

5:40 mark, What I hate with the individual pitch confidence. Grenke, is taking deep into the count and the count is 1 and 2. The foul balls that don't result in a strike still go up in confidence. I don't understand how the pitcher gains confidence in a pitch that results in nothing and especially when you get him into pitch # 7.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 17 Video - Gameplay Changes, No PlayStation VR Support This Year
No need to duck, this is an excellent point.
As for the Indians they've dropped the cream jersey so the navy jersey is now their only alternate. At home for 2017 it will be worn with the all red block C cap and on the road it will be worn with the all navy Wahoo cap. Having these differences might open up the possibility of the jersey being included twice, once with the red undershirts as the home alternate and once with the navy undershirts as the road alternate. Im also crossing my fingers that they do something similar with Texas and repeat their home white jersey twice, once with red undershirts and once with blue undershirts.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 17 Video - Gameplay Changes, No PlayStation VR Support This Year
By my count there are 7 teams who do not use their spring training jerseys as a regular season alternate. The Rays, Cardinals, Tigers, White Sox, Yankees, Dodgers, and Giants. If The Show doesn't include ST jerseys at all then these teams will be missing jerseys in the game. ST cap designs should be in without a problem as I believe every team uses the same cap designs for BP caps as well.I dig the caps being in. Like having those Alternate caps.

Re: MLB The Show 17 Video - Gameplay Changes, No PlayStation VR Support This Year
You're one of the slider gurus and I had a question about something. In the retro mode video that just came out the hit variety looks amazing. Things I'd never seen before like balls floating over an outfielders head and them jumping for it and it dropping. Looks so organic. I think that's partly attributed to what looks like the much larger outfields. But I was wondering how much the difficulty would affect this too. It looked like based on the PCI that it was being played on rookie mode.I was not trying to say All-Star is the end all, but for most of us? It is the level of choice. And being that the game is tuned to All-Star out of the box it makes slider creation for All-Star a breeze. When you start moving up to HOF and Legend...more work is involved naturally.

My question for you is do the various difficulty levels affect outfielder running speed or is it the same for them all? Really hoping we see those same plays on All-star and Hall of Fame, I know OF speed can be tuned with sliders but I'm saying for something like DD mode I hope those same plays happen.Comment

As a Diamondbacks fan, it really annoys me that they don't have David Peralta or Aj Pollocks correct loads in their stances. Peralta sort of flips the bat off his shoulder right when the pitcher starts his delivery irl.Comment

I think Mr. Russell pointed out recently about socks not being in the style guide and SDS is looking into changing this, so I'm still hopeful...Originally posted by jimmy13... According to both Indians FS and MLB cs the style guide only restricts the hats jerseys and pants. That's it. Socks, undershirts. Belts etc. are not covered in the style guide but sds doesn't want to deviate from the style guide ... It'd be awesome to play with the uniforms we see on the field for some teams, but i just don't see it happening.
Lets keep ROAD and leave AWAY to the British.

I think that thread about sock errors proves they can do whatever they want with the socks this year and they're do whatever they can to get them right.Comment
