The economics of this ploy become muddled when people like me get irritated that their eyes are drawn to an ugly (IMO) ad on the cap and consequently lose interest in collecting the things.

I've bought a ton of 5950's brand new during the last year but that's not gonna continue so long as they have the flag. I'll pick up old stock in-store while it's still available and then continue to buy flag-free caps on Ebay but that'll be it for me besides the odd new release that's worth the trouble of removing the flag.
