Re: MLB The Show 17 Video - Gameplay Changes, No PlayStation VR Support This Year
I wanted to tie this into the correct thread. Seeing more of the game during the Twitch stream, I love the new ball physics, but air and ground physics still leave a lot to be desired. I have to do some empirical timing in real life scenarios, but the ball gets to the outfielders too quickly. Maybe it's the positioning of the outfielders and their speed just the same, but the "spacing" between infielders and outfielders simply isn't there.
Someone else mentioned once that fixing one things changes a bunch of others, which is true... but in this case, I feel a lot of things are changed to fix a one thing at a time too. The grass has to cushion the ball's bounces a bit more. I think I saw a ground rule double at Progressive Field that bounced off the grass, which goes to show it's bouncing too high on that. Lower the bouncing, that will help reduce the speed. I feel that's step one.
Just a long way to go there, even though the ball physics themselves (regarding spin) are going to be much better this time around. Maybe reducing the Solid Hits slider will be the start for this particular iteration of the game.
