Thanks for your patience.
The upgrade is complete, but you've probably noticed the forums are only showing posts up to about April 8. Posts made after that are still in the process of being moved over, and that should take another week or two. Feel free to start a new thread.
The site might feel a little slow while work continues. Engineers are staying on it through the night to get things moving faster again. Thanks for your patience.
It doesn't fix all the problems but it makes the experience much less "arcade." Taking control of a player, pushing buttons, moving a stick around, etc. has nothing to do with simulating football. And it has precious little to do with simulating playing football. Some people love to bitch that the game is too "arcade" and not "sim" enough when their fundamental approach is a descendant of playing Pac-Man.
It still doesn't fix core gameplay, you sound really obnoxious right now.
Make players play to their ratings and make the ratings represent what happens in the nfl. Now it seems there is coding in the game to force outcomes/stats to give the illusion of sim instead of players playing to their capabilities.
A 2k developer once said once you put a controller into someone's hands, sim goes out the window.
"People love to bitch about the game not being sim, but your approach is a direct descendant of pacman" That ain't obnoxious? Sure when you're controlling it's not as sim as it could be but there are definitely things that can be fixed.
- Player ratings matter. I think this year was a step in the right direction. I think it could be traits, that was the difference maker. Continue that process.
- QB play. Nuff said. There is a ton of suggestions on this board already. I could go on forever...
- Line interaction. Needs improvement. I don't think it's as bad as some, could use some attention to make it more realistic.
- Teams playing like their real life counterparts. This can be tied into smarter cpu ai. Bad teams just don't play as smart, and or the players are not good enough to adjudt. Good teams adjust. Key on our weapons. Utilize theirs.
- And of course separate the different crowds from offline cfm and MUT. The patches do not work well as one single update for all. Make it a choice at the very least. This is a necessity imo.
Great article, but I disagree with getting rid of challenges, this is a huge part of the NFL now. What should be done is get it FIXED! I hate to say this, but if the last competitor can get it right, with choices of what should be challenged and the game get it right more often than not (I don't hear anyone complaining much about what that game did with challenges), it can be done!
To be clear, I'm not necessarily saying that I don't want it in there. But if I can watch a replay that clearly shows the call was incorrect (mostly sideline catches) yet it doesn't get overturned, it's broken. Unfortunately, it's been that way for years and it's gotten to the point that I just don't challenge plays because it frustrates me and gives the appearance that things are fixed, especially when it happens late in the game.
If it stays in and we want sim, why can't I get some sort of replay to determine whether I should challenge? I get disabling the full tool (that would be too easy) but can't I just pick one angle and watch it again? Or give me a very limited amount of time to review it myself and make the decision. NFL coaches don't have to make the challenge call based on only seeing the real-time play.
Anyway...I guess my point is: If you're going to fix it, fix it. If not, get rid of it.

yes i agree allow user to view a replay for a limited time like the coaches in the booth do. You can kind of do this now with the in game replays

It's not kosher to change a person's post. You quote me as saying ". . . but your style. . . ."
However, I wrote ". . . but their fundamental style. . . ."
Doing that kind thing is worse than "sound[ing] really obnoxious." And you did it twice.
I don't know how you play the game, and don't really care. End of conversation.
Eh, not when you come at someone who plays a style that you don't agree with, but this is starting to go off topic.
I'm not fond of MUT or DC, but I don't dis anyone playing that way.
I ain't dissing on nobody. He's bringing up coach mode for no reason then dissing on guys who don't play coach mode. All imma say, this is getting off topic. If y'all wanna discuss this just send me a message.
How about actual HFA? As a Pats fan I dread 2 places, Mile High and Miami. The altitude and humidity should have an effect on the road team in these games. False starts should be more frequent in Seattle little things like that. Also non automatic CPU kickers. Barring blocks and the inane 60 yarders the CPU is 100% from about 55 and in

What is up with the tackling? Apparently it's physics based, however when a guy loses all the bones in his legs and collapses after contact that doesn't seem physics based to me.
Madden has had the same issues for over 10 years. Every year we get nothing from the devs but "This year the focus is on the running game" or "this year the focus is on defense" when we should be getting a game that's focused on every aspect of the NFL. From the passing to the running to the defense to the commentary to the overall presentation. It just feels like every year is a roster update with no real changes. In my opinion, NFL 2K5 is STILL the most complete football ever made.
They need to make the relocation of a team better, make it customizable like the old NCAA Football titles, when you create your own school, uniforms, colors, stadiums, etc. Or just make it as good as NBA 2K17 is with the expansion team.
