Re: MLB The Show 17 Twitch Stream is LIVE - Franchise Mode

So basically, they added 3 new ways to play the game faster, without actually playing the game, and left the rest of the mode essentially the same. Did they not realize all the actual FRONT OFFICE tasks that should be in franchise mode are not there?

Don't get me wrong they have worked their butts off this year. They have added new items and fixed a lot of the big legacy issues. I'm just disappointed that this is what they chose to put their time into for franchise mode.

I'll give you a like but also hate you at the same time. I've never missed a giveaway on any stream since they started doing them and have won zilch.

Not that I expect to win with as many viewers as there are in the stream, many who are there only for the giveaway, but there is always a tiny bit of hope that just maybe it could be my week.

Not much of a Deep Dive. Same stuff as the Franchise Mode Tour videos posted the past 2 days.

Quirks are cool, Top Prospects list is nice (wish it also showed season stats)

No mention of Inter-League Schedules Rotating.

No mention on how Critical Moments work in 30-team Franchise.

Weekly Cash Flow is nice but does it really change that much during a season? Unless you make trades/play well it will be the same each week.

No mention of Improved Free Agency/Scouting/Drafting/Progression, Editing Coaches.

As mentioned by a lot of us, they are really catering to Casual/New players which is understandable don't get me wrong. Just wish they also took some time and considered the experienced and die hard Franchise players.

I'd be very surprised if the mode doesn't get a lot of love next year.

Yeah I try every week, and was really surprised not only that I won, but that it was the grand prize. On topic, I'm pretty happy with the changes this year. Critical situations and quirks are nice additons

From a purely self centered point of view, from the perspective of a veteran player who plays every game, there is not a lot been done. A few more screens that make it easier to access information about morale or top prospects (who are at least ranked now as well) but other than that the only change at all seems to be the addition of being able to save money one year to spend the next, which is a very welcome addition for people like myself who like a rebuild.

The lack of talk of changes to the AI is very troubling, in respect to computer free agent signings, morale, trading and roster management. All these needed seriously altering but no mention of them at all is a major disappointment.

The vast majority seemed aimed at new players or people who sim.

EDIT forgot about quirks, which might be slightly interesting, but it's a bit muddled with most being just badges to highlight high stats. Wasn't clear if the significant ones that actually effect the game can be gained or if they are set in stone and not for propsects and draftees

QUICK MANAGEMENT.....excellent looking. I hated the FAST FORWARD option.

                Game field looked really good.

Did anyone notice, or maybe it was just me, Edwin Diaz looked slim. Is that the new player body type that we're seeing?

It seems they didn't add adidas batting gloves, which is a bummer considering they have adidas cleats and fielding gloves.

I don't really play franchise much but I admit I really like that you can quickly jump back and forth between Quick Manage and then playing certain situations that may come up, only to switch back to Quick manage when the situation is resolved.

For those asking about certain top prospects and them not being on the list... They explained that if they had achieved the rookie qualification service time they're no longer considered prospects in the game...

Tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of people will be buying The Show for the first time ever, or at least the first time this generation.

Yes, but out of the ~2500 that are watching a twitch stream I would venture to guess that first time buyers are in the double digits and probably lower double digits at that. The people that are going to watch a stream like that are the same ones that can be found on a forum like this, mostly hardcore fans. You would think they would cater the info to that group more so, than to a large group of prospective buyers that aren't even watching.

Also, if they have never played in MLB in real life, they won't even be in the game since they aren't members of MLBPA. Hence the fake/generated players mixed in with the real prospects in the list they showed.

Look I know I'm just a fan... But they botched Franchise this year. We haven't seen RTTS in full yet, but they could have used some of the features of that like manager meetings and stuff in Franchise. Look at Madden, and most importantly, NBA 2K.... They got it down. It's kind of sad they couldn't even add one huge new feature. I mean not even allowing in-season extensions of your own players? No better Player-Owner dialogue or requests. A huge one is no redone AI trade formula? That's not good. It shouldn't just take a B prospect, my fifth starter, and RP to acquire Sonny Gray.

I love the new face graphics, love Diamond Dynasty, probably will like RTTS, but they literally dropped the ball and made Franchise take a backseat. If in 2018 Franchise mode isn't their TOP priority overhaul, something is legitimately wrong.

I'll disagree, based on the questions coming in chat, there were a LOT of people who had very little knowledge of the MLB The Show series. I would venture to guess there were hundreds of people who were new or hadn't bought The Show in years.

                                No way to tell though.
