I agree to an extent with you. The servers are not a big deal to me but other things are. Yes, the game looks amazing....but why did they change the way the ball off the bat sounds? Why do small infielders hit mammoth ruthian shots every game? Something clearly isn't right.

Re: MLB The Show 17: Is It a Buy?

The people who are saying this is a must buy right now are doing people who don't have the game a huge disservice.

The problems with the game are on social media and other sites besides this one, they are not isolated incidents.

These aren't little glitches, the servers being a problem days after launch, the game resetting people's experience sometimes multiple times a day, the game freezing mid game, games played but not counting, getting booted out of games and being credited with a loss, load screens that are 30+ minutes, having to wait minutes for menu screens to change.

The argument of "well it's not happening to me" does not work because not only do other users in here say they're having the problems but SDS says yes, they know these things are happening.

Everyone who has the game right now and is dealing with problems have paid a premium. They have the game during launch week when it's going to be it's most expensive. They are rewarded with a game that is currently broken.

Saying right now the game is a buy is irresponsible. If you want to say once things are fixed it's worth a buy that's one thing. To suggest that it would be in someone's best interests to get the game right now with all this going on is misleading, it makes the community look bad. They should be watching each other's backs and preventing others from getting in the same situation.

The game as I play it isn't broken. I play offline franchise and the game works for me.

Jayson, I appreciate your opinion on the matter. I definitely think it stinks that gamers who play certain modes primarily are kind of having a rough go with the game right now.

I do think that for a lot of gamers the game is still a great purchase, but hopefully the things that are hampering the experience for you and others get ironed out with a patch or whatever ASAP

IMO, its a must buy. I passed on 16, so I cant compare it to last yr game, but I did have 15, and its a bug step forward from 15, and 15 was a solid game that I enjoyed.

I am disappointed than Spring Training hasnt been improved on, and there still is only 1 park for grapefruit, and 1 park for cactus league games. Really had hoped they had added in more ballparks for spring games.

The CPU does seem to make better decisions on pitching changes, but when it comes to PH' and then replacing a position player its still porr at. As I saw a team put a player in at C after PH'ing, that didnt play catcher. Not sure if they can fix that in a patch, my guess is they cant.

All in all its a great game, as usual. 1 thing with MLBTS you can count on is there game being solid each yr, and you cant always say that about some other sports games.

So you are basically saying that anybody who plays the game differently than you has no valid argument for liking the game or recommending it to other people?

Not everyone is having the problems you are. Ignoring the fact that some people are enjoying the game and not having problems is just as frustrating for us. I play only offline. I am not having any problems playing my game and having fun with it. Saying this game is completely broken and nobody can enjoy it or play it because they can't play the way you want them to, this is what is irresponsible.

In my opinion if you really want to get into it. I feel that those having online issues are victims of your own insanity. Online in this game has never worked well at launch. Yet every year you all get upset that it doesn't work right at launch. Doing the same thing time after time expecting different results is the exact definition of crazy.

I am sorry online is not working for you. But this mode is not the entirety of the game and not everybody plays the game the way you do. So I think you need to get over it and let people play the way they want to and enjoy it for what it is.

I mean who put this article together? Terrible.Your Pros are a intro video and Franchise saves can carry over? How about:

                    Improved graphics

                    New Ball Physics

                    Sun Life Park

                    Better fielding animations

                    Better Lighting

                    RTTS PYP

I mean there is all these new features yet you could only come up with those 2 pros. Makes me think you have no idea about this game. My bet is that you never even touched it for longer than 20 minutes

Best Sports game ever made, period. The leap this year is one of the biggest ever for the franchise.

Depends how much you like baseball and if you have 4k and a pro IMO. If those things don't matter much, you could pick up 16 or even 15 and be content for very cheap. For me, I am a die hard sports fan so with the HDR enchanced graphics, new ball physics, and MLB Network presentation this was absolutely a steal for me. Plus, throw in retro mode and you can play with your kids or just a night with your friends. In fact I went out and traded my og ps4 and bought the ks8500 just so I could play this game in all its glory.

I would say it's a buy but for offline for another week. That being said, I have almost completed conquest, gotten all my rewards and done everything I've wanted to do online. I still won't play online games for a bit but that is a choice because I know what the servers are like.

I play road to the show and enjoy that a lot.

I can't believe hardly anyone talks about the fielders improvements this season. To me this is massive. Good fielders make great plays and below average ones play like they are below average.

Take that and mix in the ball physics and the players faces and there are huge improvements in the game, to me enough for the game even though the online sucks right now.

Thank you for your honesty! I will be holding off for now. I'll see what's being said here on OS once a 2-3 patches come through. Servers I could care less about, but general gameplay wise it's a killer. MLB 16 with updated rosters sounds most appealing thus far.

Fielding improvements alone are worth the buy. I loved 16 but dont see how I endured it with such unrealistic fielding glitches. Almost completely fixed in 17. Well not "fixed" but totally redone.

The only issues that are happening are server issues, as expected. They werent as bad as last year, and last year wasnt as bad as 15, but it will take probably a full week or 2 to be up and running smoothly. Obviously there is nothing they can do about this until the game is actually live.
