    Season V Franchise Mode

    In today's help a newb segment, newb asks;

    Which mode do most of you play when playing through seasons? Advantages? Disadvantages?

    I'd like to hear what you veterans have to say on this.

    Thanks.

    I always go season mode. It's really franchise lite since it is more than one season.

    I like playing my games and only worrying about my 40-man roster rather than a minor-league system.

      Do you still draft players, and do the players not o the 25 man rosters progress

        Everyone progresses, and you still draft players. Think of it as instead of an Mlb roster, AAA, AA. It's an Mlb Roster, Inactive Roster.

          I may look into this. I'm usually a franchise only player, but might be nice to lesson the responsibilities. So you draft players, and they progress like in franchise? I like drafting players, and using them when they progress enough to be on the big league team, but don't care to deal with the players who are never going to make it.

            Re: Season V Franchise Mode

            osfm is for franchise but then I run a lot of one and done from season mode, usually with default rosters and historic classic rosters from the vault.
            the one big disadvantage about season for me is I would really like to play the AAA games. i wish there were a 50man roster for season mode so we could play those AAA games.
            Sometimes I think I would like a 125 man roster for franchise but then I look at all the players from my little old 90man roster who never so much as sniff a cup of coffee from the Big Show. In season mode you have a choice of 162 game season, 82 games, 29 games and 14 games. Franchise has only the 162 game season. Season mode doesnt have GM contracts, so ownership expectations for yearly goals and contract goals are only in franchise mode.
            To me, with a lot of time on my hands since my son graduated from high school, both experiences are a must, and for me also, playoff mode gets its fair share. I dont do much RTTS anymore and no o DD or anthing online or CotW.

              Random question;

              Do the 15 inactive players get service time in season mode? Or does this count only if they are on the big club?

                  I have been playing season mode to begin with and I noticed that now you have to deal with the players feelings. Is this in franchise mode also? Is there a way to turn it off? I don't care how my players are feeling, and it bugs me that it now affects their overall rating.

                  *I didn't want to clog up the main page with this so that's why I posted it in here.

                      Franchise for me!

                      I love every aspect of management. Heck, If we could set tickets price, upgrades on stadium and so on, I'd be even more happier.

                        This is a really good discussion, and I hope to hear more from others...
                        I've always played Franchise mode until last year when I played a short season in Season mode. It was fast paced and fun, with less responsibilities there was more focus on the game of baseball.
                        Im all set to start my franchise this year when the OSFM rosters drop but now I'm questioning it, should I start a Season mode instead?

                        What you get in both modes:
                        Play games, manage rosters, draft & sign players, player morale, manage contracts & free agency, manage coaches, trades, top prospects list, awards, stats...
                        (Also fantasy draft, legends, forces trades, ignore budget, CPU Roster Control and DH option are all options if you choose.)

                        Season mode only:
                        # of Games(162, 82, 29 or 14)
                        # of Innings (9 thru 1)

                        Franchise only:
                        Manage Minors league rosters (AAA, AA & A), GM contracts(GM Goals), Scouting, Training, Missions, Sponsorships, Advanced Budget system.

                        I think I covered it all...

                        I don't use or care to use most of the exclusive stuff in Franchise so maybe I will do a Season instead? Not sure yet.
                        Managing the minors is fun but I am more focused on my Major league team. I usually Auto Training and Scouting. I hear the new budget system is a mess of confusion and I wouldn't miss the Sponsorships either. Also no interest in GM Goals as I play with one team. I'm not bashing Franchise, I love the mode, I just have limited time now that I have a family.

                          So how does the draft work if there is no scouting in season mode. I'm on vacation and unable to access my game or I would check myself

                            I don't think they progress during the season while they're in AAA, but I'll have to double check that. They definitely progress in the offseason.

                            You can see the ratings/potential during the draft. It also only lasts about five rounds.
