Flipping cards harder This year?
Man I feel like I'm in no mans land when it comes to DD this year. How are people even flipping cards with the buy and sell orders being so close to each other this year?Tags: None -
Re: Flipping cards harder This year?
I hear ya man. I don't have the patience to be flipping 90 stub common cards. I did flip two golds recently but with the 10% tax, and the amount of time it takes for someone to buy it, I only netted like 700 stubs. -

Yeah man it's crazy it's still kinda early but I don't see the market looking like last year where you could flip for high profit.Comment

Re: Flipping cards harder This year?
I am having a hard time as well. The only thing is I have noticed a few cards are fluctuating like crazy and certain times of the day prices go down vs up. (hint: when America sleeps the price is cheap, when America plays, sell all day)
I have been luckily and bought a few that I thought would go back up and they did. I netted around 5-7k on each of those. Other than that it is a lot of work to make 100 stubs.Comment

Re: Flipping cards harder This year?
i think all the info they are showing on theshownation.com is making it harder too. You can see all the buying/selling prices instead of just the highest, and you can see all the sell history. Makes the site a lot cooler, but makes flipping harder.Comment

This might be there way of making people have to buy stubs and spend money instead of working the market.Comment

Re: Flipping cards harder This year?
well dont forget it is still early in the games release. eventually people that may be playing a lot right now may not be playing a lot after a month or so. so flipping will become a bit easier once there are less people doing it. but right now a ton of people are trying to flip all at the same time so it makes it very difficult.Toronto Blue Jays

Re: Flipping cards harder This year?
This is my first year doing it and I definitely am not buying and selling huge money (stub) cards. I've mostly just been flipping cards for 150-300 stubs a piece. It's pretty addicting.
The annoying part though is when someone who actually doesn't know what people are doing with flipping cards decides to sell his card at like 200 stubs less than what the going rate is. I just thought I'd wait and someone would buy that kid's card and then I could sell the 3 I had at the regular going rate. Well I check back 5 minutes later and like 6 other people have undercut the guy. So now I'm sitting on 3 cards that I may lose money on if the prices don't go back up.Comment

Re: Flipping cards harder This year?
Happens every year. The first couple of weeks, it's hard to make a big profit per flip. But as the months go on, the margins will stretch out again

Here's hoping this happens sooner rather than later, I'm dying to get some of these team collections done.Comment

Re: Flipping cards harder This year?
I feel like the market prices started a lot higher this year too. I don't remember too many players around the 100k mark last year except Trout and Harper. This year it seems like most of the Diamond position players are up there

The market is way higher last year. The top cards are twice what they were this time last yearI feel like the market prices started a lot higher this year too. Re: Flipping cards harder This year?
Agreed, from what people are saying and scrolling through the market, it seems like higher end cards (diamond/gold) are harder to flip. My guess is due to everyone trying to do it right now. It should get better the further into the year we go. I've had success on flipping some lower end cards while building up collections.Comment

Re: Flipping cards harder This year?
I never flip cards, so I wasn't paying attention, but after reading this, I went to take a look at the marketplace.
Almost all diamond/gold cards have about a 10% spread (give or take a couple of percentage points), meaning they do not earn you anything at all. You can find a better spread on bronze, but then you have to flip about 1000 cards to make a worthwhile progress.
I also superficially added the market prices of diamond cards, at the moment to buy all Live series diamonds (for collection purposes) it takes 2.5 million stubs.
And that is without a single gold card or more, so only about 40 out of 1200 cards.
A rich person would need to spend about $1600 just to buy diamonds. I'm almost there, 1590 to go.Comment
