True on PC but no excuse to have editing on console...

With only quick match and nine teams I can't see many be excited by this at all.

    I'm disappointed.

Fully licensed CFL game with season mode and I'd be all in!

I still play arena football on Xbox! I'm not fussy lol

    Cracking game in season mode.

any news of a football game in development or about to release is encouraging. It May give the developers with already a solid base (2k-APF2k8) the courage to maybe just maybe give a football title another go.

I'll give it go. If they've nailed the gameplay the graphics will only get better with time with any luck.

As with any developer that releases a playable football game on PC and consoles, I'll fork out the money.

They should have delayed the game and offered more modes. Offering only play now makes this a sure flop.

Re: Canadian Football 2017 Scheduled to Arrive in June - Quick Play Only, No CFL Lice

Is there even online head-to-head at launch, or is the sole game mode available offline quick-play?

Unlicensed football games have an up-hill battle to get traction as-is, but this game is dead in the water if it releases with only local multiplayer and no long-term game modes, especially as a console-bound sports game where online multiplayer is basically a requirement for entry, and especially at a $15 price point. With the idea that features like season/franchise/whatever will be added "later", the game basically wants to be an early access game without calling itself an early access game, and I don't think that bodes well for its commercial viability.

On top of that, I don't see what this game is doing to differentiate itself from other football games to justify the steep price point for a single gameplay mode, beyond using the Canadian rule set which let's be honest doesn't change the experience that much. For example, Axis Football has a unique passing control mechanic using the mouse; no other football game does that, you can only get that control scheme in Axis Football. What does Canadian Football 2017 do that other football games cannot do, what experience can I draw from this game that I cannot get anywhere else?

What kind of game modes will you feature?

"When making Canadian Football 2017 we really tried to stick to the KISS principle (Keep it simple, stupid). That’s why we’ll only be offering a quick play mode; you just pick two teams and play. It’s basic but if we had added other features like career mode, etc., we’d have needed much more development time. In the end we decided to spend our time on the core experience rather than trying to add a bunch of modes or trading card features. Perhaps in future versions we can add those options in."
This is the same thing 2K said when they released APF 08 and we see how far that got. This is simply people making the same mistake twice. Even if they snatched up the system from 2k5 and attempted some sort of career made. Maybe something like Blitz "the League". This article took me from excitement to disappointment faster than premature e-jak. $9.99 tops!

Here's a video of play from February:

With the game scheduled to be released in June, not much is going to change. It flat out looks horrible (and sounds horrible).

I was hopeful, but that video just killed what little there was. Ugh!

That gameplay video reminds me of a less grainy Madden 2000. No line interaction outside of standing up and getting stuck on eachother. I'll just stick to Axis Football until these guys show a better product.

You and me both. Sadly, this seems to be following the same pattern as Maximum Football. Overpromise, underdeliver, and leave the project abruptly when things don't go as planned. So far, #1 and #2 have already happened, and now it's just a matter of time until #3 comes to pass as well. I'll keep an eye on it just like I am Axis and other non-EA football offerings, but it would really need to make a positive leap forward to get me anywhere near considering to purchase.

I don't know All Pro Football 2K9 was pretty darn good. Still plays well now. EA is a big bully but they are showibg signs of complacency. 2K kills in Basketball I wish they came back to both Football and Hockey.

2k didn't get the support to make Apf 09. If this game isn't supported the same thing will happen to it. In fact, I'll be shocked if it doesn't.

It takes a lot of development time and money to put what most people feel are required features into a football game. Very few gamers are hardcore enough to support bare bones efforts.

What sucks is Madden 06-09 was fully supported even tho they pretty much did the same thing and because of the exclusive license, if it hadn't been we may be looking at an entirely different landscape with football games. One where exclusive licenses don't exist.

Really reads like something Damon Grow and his fan(s) put together. They're taking shots here and there (mentioning cards in the post above, on their site they say they'll be similar to other games but using 'real football rules') and then are shipping a largely incomplete game by really any standard other than a mobile novelty or tech demo.

Best of luck to them, not interested in a play now experience, can't imagine many are but hopefully they decide to do more.
