Just hit a 638 Foot Bomb Out of Polo Grounds w/ Trout

Had to make a thread as this is absolutely one of the rarest and craziest things I have ever pulled off in any video game -

Just hit a 638 foot home run out of Polo Grounds.

It cleared dead center, 487 feet away, cleared about 50 rows of bleachers in center field that go up about 50 feet in height, and completely cleared two final concrete walls at the very back of the stadium. Estimated distance was 638 feet.

This was my white whale: I previously considered this impossible, as I had never even managed to hit a home run to dead center at the polo grounds (483 feet). I got a perfect pitch, actually about knee high, and golfed it.

The game probably doesn't take into consideration the dimensions of the field. It probably just decides it's a no doubter and when that happens, regardless of actual distance, it makes the ball go 80+ rows up.

This should only happen if you find all the power-ups and physical upgrade kits. To defend against this, though, you should have to find the secret mushrooms so outfielders can increase their size tenfold, leap in the air to rob the homer while crashing into the stands and blowing up the scoreboard.

Aren't there sliders to curb this type of homer if it bothers people so much?


I have hit some long homeruns but I am not sure I have even topped 500 feet. Of course, I never use power swing ever.

Sliders can adjust the frequency of home runs hit. But the unrealistic distances are a product of the wind & new ball physics (backspin carry), which could use some fine tuning. The wind slider setting on 0 does improve it some, but then you take away one realistic factor to make something else more realistic.

You don't have to zero it if you don't want to though. I'm playing with it on 2 now and haven't seen anything crazy - yet.

The only thing that slider effects is the wind effect itself - even on the pause screen since you can see the mph number change once you go back through it. So, even if it only shows 3 or 4 mph I can assume it's probably around 10 IRL conditions, because of how things are working with the wind this year.

If the only thing wrong after slider tweaking is the display of a number I can live with it as a temporary workaround. Offline, that is. Online can still turn into PED Home Run Derby, and that's the part where this really needs to be looked at by the devs.

Think we might be getting ahead of ourselves here? This is the most sim game I've ever played. This is the first year they've used real ball physics, probably just needs a minor tweak. I wouldn't even remotely say they're edging towards arcade.
