Stud prospects in offseason free agency

In the offseason there is always 15-20 A-B potential and many C potential major league ready prospects available for signing when free agency opens after the qualifying offer period. I'm assuming these are draftees who went unsigned.

Has anyone found a resolution to prevent this from happening?

CPU teams not signing their top draft picks kills league wide competitiveness and longevity of franchise. It also makes it way to easy to have a ridiculously stacked farm system. This issue has been present for several years now.

I make a rule for myself I cant sign anyone with A or B potential unless in 50's. Can sign any C potential to fill out my minors. CPU signs them by end of FA

The question is why is this happening? Teams dont just not sign top prospects like that and let them fall into FA.

Exactly. I can make a "house rule" telling myself not to give in to the temptation of signing them. My concern is more along the lines of CPU teams not having their top pick prospects, and this definitely being a glitch or flaw in CPU team management.

I guess we can just go in and sign them if we have 30 team control.

We shouldnt have to work around them not being able to program common sense logic. I dont have the time to look up which prospect belongs where and re-sign them to their team.

Pretty confident the reason is that the teams start with rosters too full, so don't have space to sign enough draft picks in the first season (you have to sign them before the trade deadline, so they go to free agency at the end of the year. It doesn't happen in the second season

Easily tested, just remove a few terrible players from each team before starting and see if teams sign their top draft picks or not

So we need to remove some bad players after the draft from each team?

Before would probably work if my theory is right, don't know if it would work after as frequently the computer seems to have certain days it makes decisions and the sign draft picks day might be the day after the draft, you can see who they've signed within a day or two anyway.

I could be entirely wrong though, but it at least makes sense, as in the second year it doesn't happen and all the teams have a lot more space

If you do 30 team control, the day after the draft you can cycle through each team in the sign draft picks page and sign anyone not signed for each team. Takes a total of 3 minutes and each team gets their draft picks signed which prevents them from heading to free agency in the next off season.

While I agree we shouldn't have to do a work around this is a very easy 3 minute work around to solve this.

I dont want to control 30 teams. I want to control my team. They make money off of me to play their game. I shouldnt have to do their work for them.

Then file a bug report on Theshownation since getting some community suggestions (and a really simple one) is not good enough for you.

You know a lot of us realize the game is not perfect nor do we want to condone poor cpu logic.

But we look for solutions. If taking 5-10 tops minutes to simply sign every draft pick for 30 teams (because that is all it takes) does not work for you.

File a bug report. That takes 2 minutes.

Absolutely understand you should not have to play 30 team control. But you can have everything on auto for the other 29 teams and do this one task.

Hey! While you're filing that bug report, could you also include the drafted players trade bug? Y'know, the one where you can trade for other teams' draftees for pennies on the dollar...? Thanks!

30 team control doesn't mean you control all 30 teams, you set the other 29 to auto and it acts just like single team control.
All 30 team control does is allow you to control things during franchise you otherwise wouldn't be able (like what I told you above) if you wanted to do so..

You asked if anyone found a way to fix this 30 team control is the fix, idk what else you were expecting to find

Ive never understood why people struggle to understand 30 team control doesnt mean you have to control all 30 teams.

No sports game will ever be perfect in its management, so 30 team control is the only way to go. That way you can control your team, and makes sure that the CPU dont do anything really stupid.
I dont mind seeing some lopsided trades at times, it happens IRL, where 1 team gets the screws put too them at times, heck just looks at the Reds giving Chapman away, lol.
