The defense let you down at times and injuries played a big part down the stretch. I remember the days of the high-flying passing offense Tulane used to feature. Seeing both of your QBs with more INTs than TDs is disheartening, but that's to be expected from a freshman. Allen needs to come back and have a monster senior season. He owes it to you, the fans and to himself.

Amazing way to cap off the season. I love stories where a dude outta nowhere performs his heart out.
Kinda bummed Michigan lost but I can't say much about it. I'm sure USC would've blown the doors off of Florida though.
Hopefully the new DC does well. Your defense was wildly inconsistent with Ellis and I hope you find some more consistency.

Just finished reading Part 1 and Part 2. Its amazing how you brought Tulane to the national spotlight. Sadly you havent had the luck to make it to the title game in Part 2, though I think you couldve made it this season if you didnt have all the injuries. Ill be following.

First congrats on the bowl win. Powers and Tompkins had a great outing.
I know it was hard to cut ties with Ellis. Hopefully coach bring in the right guy to fix things.Comment

The defense just doesn't seem to be clicking, especially late in the year. I am truly undecided both on what scheme I will change to as well as who will be the new Defensive Coordinator personality I decide to inject into the storyline. As you will see in my next updates, my choices are 3-4, Multiple D, or 4-2-5.
I'm going to miss ol' Coach Ellis' profanity-laced tirades, but it's time to move on. I need more sack and turnover production on that side of the ball.

I think we have a great chance to compete for a title next season, we really need a big senior year from him (spoiler alert lol).

Sorry about Big Blue; looks like they hung tough though and they certainly fared much better than my team did versus Florida. Michigan has a pretty good roster and should be right back in contention again next season.

I am absolutely amazed that it took me six seasons to win a national title back in Part I of this thing and now, despite having a championship roster coming into Part II, it has taken me just as long to reach the top. It really makes the run of 2 national titles in 3 seasons with QB Jamie Manning and RB Reggie Moore from 2016-2018 feel all the more special. I feel we're very close to returning though.
LOL...Glad you enjoy the Geezy/reporter-chick subplot. Let's just hope Mrs. Geezy never stumbles across this thread, even if it is all in good fun.
As you'll see in a moment, I have some pretty interested candidates to choose from over the next few days.Last edited by Deegeezy; 05-05-2017, 12:01 PM.Click here to read my dynasty report:

Tulane | QB Allen, WR McIntyre to return in 2024
Wed, 10 Jan 2024 08:12:41 -0700
Eve Jewell of TulaneInsider.com reports that Tulane QB Bryce Allen (89 ovr) and WR Brandon McIntyre (90 ovr) will not be entering the 2024 NFL Draft and will stay at Tulane for their senior years. Both players are coming off injury-plagued seasons, missing the bulk of their team's final six games this past fall.
"We have both decided that we cannot go out the way we did and we feel we still owe a lot to Tulane fans and to ourselves," Allen and McIntyre said in a joint-statement they released to TulaneInsider.com.
"At the end of the day, we both want to finish up our degree programs while at the same time helping to bring another championship to New Orleans. It has been too long and we want to experience the glory that this town experienced years ago."

Tulane | Two set to interview for vacant coordinator position this week
Thu, 11 Jan 2024 10:02:01 -0700
Dianna Russini of ESPN.com reports that Tulane head coach D. Geezy and Tulane brass will begin interviewing candidates next week for its vacant defensive coordinator spot, recently made open following the departure of Steve Ellis, who had been with the team for the past five seasons.
DeJean's only interception of his senior year came in a 34-27 upset win over thin-#25 ranked UCF back in 2013, Tulane's final season as a member of Conference USA.
Alabama defensive line coach Karl Dunbar and UL-Lafayette defensive coordinator Cameron DeJean "will each be coming to New Orleans to interview within the next 7 days," according to Russini's source.
DeJean, a former player at Tulane under head coach D. Geezy from 2010-2013, has been working as UL-Lafayette's defensive coordinator since the 2020 after spending four seasons coaching defensive backs at Jacksonville State. A 4-year starter and Lafayette, Louisiana native, DeJean finished his career at Tulane with 255 tackles, 4 sacks, and 2 interceptions as the team's starting safety while also spending time as a nickel cornerback. Perhaps partial to three safety formations after spending so much time in that alignment during his collegiate playing career, DeJean runs a 4-2-5 defense with the Ragin' Cajuns.
Dunbar is a long-time defensive line coach at the NFL and collegiate level that has yet to break into the coordinator ranks. He has been at Alabama since the 2016 season, working under legendary Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban. A disciple of the 3-4 defense, Dunbar also has spent several years working as an assistant under former NFL defensive coordinator and head coach Rex Ryan. Like DeJean, Dunbar is also a Louisiana native and also has history with Geezy - the two men spent time together at Nicholls St. University for the 1998 and 1999 seasons, when Geezy was a wide receiver on the Colonels' football team while Dunbar was the team's defensive line coach.
No timetable was given on how quickly a hire would be made or if more candidates would be interviewed.

Charles Kelly has reportedly been contacted by Tulane officials to guage his interest in returning.

Tulane | Geezy-Kelly reunion a possibility?
Fri, 12 Jan 2024 10:11:24 -0700
Samantha Ponder of ESPN.com reports through her Florida St. sources that Seminoles defensive coordinator Charles Kelly has been contacted by Tulane officials to guage his interest in returning to the school. Kelly, who is currently not under contract but has a standing offer to return to Tallahassee, was the Green Wave's defensive coordinator from 2011-2019.
He had a very unceremonious departure, as his disimissal came in the aftermath of a bounty scandal which resulted in a 7-game suspension at the start of the 2019 season as well as allegations that he played a role in the origination of a story posted on TMZ involving Tulane head coach D. Geezy and FoxSports reporter Erin Andrews.
"The reporting of Coach Kelly's firing was mischaracterized by the media from start to finish and the truth is both he and Geezy made amends a long time ago and the two men still have a strong friendship," said Ponder's source.
"The media made it sound like Coach Kelly was aiming to embarrass Geezy with the Erin Andrews stuff but in reality, it was more of a locker room joke sort of thing gone awry and a hotel employee made the decision to send the information to TMZ.
"Geezy forgave Coach Kelly a long time ago and if a formal offer is made, I'd bet Kelly would head back to New Orleans."
Tulane enjoyed unprecedented success during Kelly's tenure, using Kelly's "Multiple D" scheme, most known for its "Slash" linebacker role. He and Geezy won 2 national titles during their time together, in 2016 and 2018. One of the hottest defensive coordinator names in college football, Kelly's Seminoles squad also won a national title in 2020, his first season with the team.

Editor's Note:
These defensive coordinator "interviews" will basically consist of me next week going through the 3-4, 4-2-5, and Multiple D playbooks thoroughly and deciding which one fits best with my current personnel and simply put, which one looks the most fun.

I already know who I want and it is not even close in my eyes. Loving the storylines but it is time to return to the glory days of old. #BringBackKelly #SlashTime
Very very happy to see Allen and McIntyre returning. This just feels like a special year coming.Last edited by Cheese2121; 05-05-2017, 12:57 PM.A Rising Storm in the North | Cheese's Eastern Michigan Dynasty (NCAA '12)

Either one of those coaches would be a great addition to the staff. All have ties to the state of Louisiana.Comment

I truly have no idea what I am going to do at this point.
I do agree though that this upcoming year feels like it could be the year. We should have a mid-90s rated QB and a nice group of WRs along with Tony Tompkins in the backfield. Hopefully we can stay healthy and make some noise.
This is going to be a very tough decision for me to make; but like I said, it is really just going to come down to which playbook I like the most.Click here to read my dynasty report:

Re: Coach Geezy in the Big Easy: Our City, Our Team | Part II - The Golden Age of Tul
Oh damn that is a tough loss for your secondary, hopefully you can figure out that one. Also, how do you go about hiring your coordinators? Is it just for storylines? Or do you actually create new coaches within the game.Comment

This is my lasting image of Faulk (#7) from that game. WRs were constantly getting behind him and he was a big reason we barely beat a subpar Tennessee squad last year:
Hopefully we can get some help in off-season recruiting.
As for my coordinator spots - it is all about playbook/play-style changes. What's the fun in that though unless you have some sort of real life-like, in-universe explanation for them?Last edited by Deegeezy; 05-07-2017, 12:35 PM.Click here to read my dynasty report:

Re: Coach Geezy in the Big Easy: Our City, Our Team | Part II - The Golden Age of Tul
As always that's a lot of talent walking out the door but it could have been much worse with players declaring. I figured you're LeCharles might jump early as you have a long history of sending free safeties to the next level early. I was more surprised by Brandon Davidson. I didn't realize how good of a year he was quietly having, leading the team in tackles. Filling the free safety void will be tough and it seems like the past few seasons have been thinner on the recruiting front to find quality DB's. Good luck my friend!A Rising Storm in the North | Cheese's Eastern Michigan Dynasty (NCAA '12)

A new coach on Defense plus trying to replace that secondary could make for a long season next year in NOLA. I hope not though, hopefully some good things happen in recruiting to help ease thisComment

Re: Coach Geezy in the Big Easy: Our City, Our Team | Part II - The Golden Age of Tul
This! Running a new defense will be an adjustment in and of itself but to do so with almost an entire new starting secondary doesn't make things any easier.
