Why does the ball get knocked loose so often in 2K17?

I'm basically wondering why I drop so many passes right after I catch it.

There's also the grope-steal animation that I've mentioned (which happens while you're driving for a layup).

These are professional basketball players with a very good feel for the ball. They shouldn't be dropping the ball so often.

Can 2K remove this crazy idea that the ball needs to be dropped for steals/turnovers?

    It's how 2K plays defense.

    Bump animations and strip animations.

    It was worse last year.

I was just about to make a thread about this

Ball security is absolutely horrific in this game

I'll just be dribbling up the court and bounce it off my foot

Did they buff steals in the paint? In pro am my bigs can hardly hold onto the ball anymore. It's like an instant loose ball. I've seen them pump fake, try to go back up only to get caught in an animation that makes their player freeze and lose the ball.

Yeah I have no clue what's going on with my game, but I'm seeing tons of bobbled and dropped passes. Everything is out of sync and laggy for me in PNO.

Lol the ball is selectively live. Opposing cpu players can dribble recklessly into the paint and through my players but my CPU players make 1 or 2 dribbles into the paint and the ball is bouncing around and my guys are flailing around like idiots trying to find the ball.

Lmao. I came in here to say something but these posts pretty much summed up my thought perfectly.

Sad part was that this wasn't really possible last year. The ball was actually tangible but people kept complaining about "bump steals" so they toned it down (or up?) and now stuff like in the above clip is possible.

Difference is for human vs. human in online modes. There's crazy clipping.

For human vs. CPU, you can't hold onto it. Every time 2K gets rid of cheese from last year, they just feel an irresistible urge to introduce something new.

there are reasons in real life that would cause a person to have reservations about doing certain things on the court that dont translate on a video game, so i dont have a problem with the ball being vulnerable to recreate those reservations.

The offense gets away with so much man. It's even worse as a paint protector which I'm starting to think is the worse archetype

Oh yeah, the "Sniper took put both knees" animation. A 2K17 classic.

I have recorded a bunch of clips of this craziness and im going to assemble them and post it.. I have about 5 different Myplayers but when I play with my 95 rated Glass Cleaner that has 38 Badges all 5 Hall of Fame Badges with maxed out ball security because of the stupid caps the defenders in Pro Am just spam the steal button the whole game. When 2k built the player models for the big men they should have just made the model with No Hands. Especially the idiotic pass strip steal animation when youre double teamed or triple teamed and attempt to pass to the open man only to have the ball stripped during your passing animation. 2k needs to get rid of the Bump steals and call more reaching fouls.

It's to stop all the lead passing into the lane. And all the players with bad hands ratings from catching the ball cleanly. So user aren't just making passes into heavy traffic without any penalty. I love it. It forces you to choose your spots of forcing the ball. I don't even want to post 2k16 clips long bombs, players with bad hands catching passes like their were Odell Jr and leading passing for 3's or shoot change into pass.

Yes it's needs a little tweaking but, I love it! Too many times players go up in the air for a shot and have no business throwing passes to covered players or sometimes open ones.
