As a Patriots fan I grew up loving Romeo Crennel's 3-4 defense so I love that Tulane is employing it as well. Your defense will need to create quick pressure to protect that inexperienced secondary.

Hopefully Dunbar can help improve your defense bro, nice decision. Love the storylines!

Thanks gsu. I decided it was time to inject a new character into the story and I also wanted a new challenge, switching to a different style of defense.

This playbook looks very fun; there so many different sets and variations of the 3-4 to choose from and we will use all sorts of different personnel packages. It's going to be great; I am completely re-motivated about that side of the ball.

Great observation. The defense will play more aggressively under "Coach Dunbar," however we will need to pick and choose our spots carefully, because we don't have the elite secondary that we used to have years ago. I will say this though, and you'll see it when I post the roster in a few days - that front 7 of ours is looking NASTY.

Thanks Lopaka. There will be an adjustment period, but I plan to do some lab work in practice mode for a few days to get all the kinks worked out. I can't wait to see this playbook in a game; still got some more off-season business to handle first though!

Thanks man...Michael Brown Jr. reminds me a bit of Percy Harvin. I am pretty hyped up about using him next season. I think we got a steal.

I should have the recruiting news/signing day results posted in the next couple of days.

I was well known to be on the team to bring Kelly back but reading up on Dunbar and seeing how you will be employing the 3-4 I am very excited in this hire. I think it opens a whole new chapter to the story and your play on the field. It is going to give you a lot of flexibility to utilize different player packages and schemes. If you can get the pressure ramped up the sky is the limit for the team this year. I am super excited to see what Dunbar can do with this unit. Also seeing a new face in the storyline is very exciting.

Love the storyline surrounding Dunbar. I'm not sure how you'll work with the new personnel (I'm assuming you have the players necessary for a 3-4) but it's definitely interesting to see a new system get implemented. Even better is the fact that you "stole" him from 'Bama like they did your boy Deuce.

Your secondary will most likely be the most challenging to fix. Losing two top safeties is something you don't want to have to go through. As a matter of fact I will be graduating two safeties in the upcoming season in my Michigan 'nasty. Hopefully you can land that guy Earl Bowling, as he looks like a stud in the making.

Thanks man. I really went back and forth a lot on this decision (I almost had to snap myself out of thinking this was a real life decision to make a couple of times haha).

The Kelly comeback story line was so intriguing. In the end though, I felt like if I went with Kelly and the Multiple D playbook, I would end up reverting back to a lot of the same things I was doing before scheme-wise. I think the 3-4 will really give me a lot of opportunities to deploy more personnel packages and take advantage of some of the versatility we have in our front-7.

I am very excited about change - I have been using the Multiple D playbook for 11 of the 14 seasons of this dynasty, so it will be cool to learn and see something new. As you already know, sometimes you gotta do things just to keep everything feeling fresh, but I also feel like this switch makes sense from a football standpoint as well.

I wouldn't say the personnel is exactly perfect for a 3-4 currently, namely we don't have the type of big, 5-technique defensive ends you'd want for this defense. I plan to do some shuffling around - maybe one or two of my DTs can move to DE in some sets, but for now we will have to roll mostly with our already undersized < 240 pound defensive ends.

On the other hand, we are very stacked at LB and have perfect fits in place both inside and outside, which you will see in a few days once I post the recruiting results and final roster. I was very eager to get my #2 MLB Mario Young (82 ovr last yr) onto the field to play next to my starting 4-3 MLB Sean Williams (82 ovr last yr). Then I also have OLB Chuckie Coley (85 ovr last yr) coming back for his senior season along with a big time prospect I signed earlier during this past season - Blue chip OLB Sean Williamson.

You're absolutely right though about the secondary. We can't afford to get too aggressive scheme-wise, because we aren't as stacked back there as we have been in the past. We have had a lot of trouble attracting top shelf cornerbacks for a few seasons now and losing both of my safeties is a pretty big deal, because they really helped mask that deficiency at corner this past season.

P.S. Nice catch on Deuce. That was a missed opportunity there for me to add that tidbit into the story, which by the way ended up being a little lengthier than I originally intended (sorry for the vitiligo PSA, but I felt it was essential because it is such a big part of Dunbar's history and if I was going to use him in this story, then it is only right that I give his charity a plug).

Appreciate the love as always fellas. Next up, National Signing Day!

I use the stock playbook the game gives to me. The previous "Multiple D" playbook had a little bit of everything, but it was just very vanilla, both formationally as well as in terms of the plays within each formation. This "3-4" playbook has about 6 or 7 different variations of the "3-4" where as my previous playbook literally only had 2.

                        Tue, 6 Feb 2024 17:49:28 -0700
Eve Jewell of TulaneInsider.com reports that, following his in-home visit with Tulane officials,, 4-star RB Brian Anthony (5-11, 215, 4.42 40-time, #20 rated RB) has committed to the Green Wave. The Niles, Illinois native had narrowed his choices down to Tulane, Michigan St., and Georgia. According to Jewell, who Anthony announced his decision to following an exclusive in-home interview with her, the speedy tailback became enamored with the vision the Green Wave coaching staff had for him while also believing that Tulane offered the best opportunity to play for a national championship some day.

With the Wave's leading rusher Tim Powers set to graduate, the young runner could help provide depth behind presumed starting RB Tony Tompkins next fall, though a redshirt season is also a possibility.

Charissa Thompson of Fox Sports Los Angeles reports that FS Earl Bowling (6-1, 220, 4.32 40 time, #1 rated FS) has chosen to enroll at USC and will sign with them on National Signing Day. The Toledo, Ohio native had narrowed his choices down to USC, Tulane, and Notre Dame.

The #1 safety prospect in the nation, Bowling is expected to start immediately in the Trojans' defensive backfield, as they are thin at safety.

"Tulane came on strong, but in the end, I just really always envisioned myself playing for the Trojans and unlike Tulane and Notre Dame as of late, they're a team that is always in contention for the national title," said Bowling.

Edmonds cited "playing time concerns" as his top reason for choosing Ohio St., with both Michigan and Tulane having firmly entrenched starters with two seasons of eligibility remaining in junior TE Jon Rose (81 ovr) and junior TE Ronnie Parsons (84 ovr), respectively.

That was a really cool recruiting breakdown. It's always nice how the simulation of the computer creates interesting storylines like TCU signing 3 of the top 8...

I think you should check into creating a custom defensive playbook, even just trying the different 3-4 variants

USC getting robbed twice, missing the National Championship and the #1 recruiting class. Also, the #1 overall recruit was a FULLBACK?

Nice size of those WRs you signed, while the class isn't large it's like you said - they should have an earlier impact on the team that years past.
