Hitting in Ranked Seasons Harder Now?

It seems that suddenly the hitting in ranked seasons is completely different. I hadn't played in a week or so, so maybe it's been like this for a while.

It definitely seems to me that hit speed has been tuned down, or maybe hitting has just been made more difficult?

    Has anyone else noticed this?

I've only played 4 games in the last two days but I certainly have been having that feeling. I don't think it is harder though, I think it's just that I played the Event so much I just got used to having people absolutely mash? I think it's distorted my view a bit

I was thinking that too because I played the event a ton, and got really accustomed to hitting basically every pitch hard. But even my PCI seems like it's smaller than it used to be in previous ranked seasons matches.

Did they make the difficultly hall of fame or something? I have a hard time believing they'd make this big of a change without some sort of announcement, so maybe I just suck now.

Did you rank up either from Spring Training > Regular Season or from Wild Card > Division Series? If you did, difficulty goes up a level for those league shifts - up to All-Star for RS and HOF for DS. I'm guessing the WC > DS jump was the more likely one, so let me know if that was the case. If your PCI suddenly seems significantly smaller, I'd bet on that being the case.

Note that the game defaults to all-star when players in 2 different divisions play each other, so you're not ALWAYS going to be on HOF if you've made it to DS unless you manage your matchmaking setting closely.

And, although it's unrelated to your problem, the devs made HOF the difficulty level for BR until Sunday. So people have probably found it tougher to hit there too.

You might be right as they do seem to be constantly messing with the game, usually for the worse, I just assumed it's probably me being rubbish.

It's also been crazy hot where I am so I kind of figured the full body flop sweat and light-headedness I have going on might have been affecting my hitting!

Really though I think it is just adjusting back from the Event.

I played tons of games last season while in World Series and never felt any difference in gameplay like this.

I was not aware of those difficulty settings though. I thought everyone played on all star after spring training. I guess if nobody else is noticing the change then it's probably just me.

Hitting just feels a lot weaker lately, i get a lot of weak line drives to third and second. My opponents with golds and silvers haven't been getting solid hits either and I've gotten away with some really bad pitches because of it. But i do get lit up against the full diamond teams , they seem to be able hit everything hard and in the gap.

I don't know if it's harder but it's still totally messed up. Pitches way out of the strike zone are still being launched over the wall like you floated a beach ball down the middle and I'm still getting good contact with dead on aim of pitches down the middle that I either miss, dribble to the pitcher, or foul off. It's as if the strike zone means nothing. Never experienced this in prior releases

It's even worse if your facing a team full of diamond players and you have a team full of silver players. There is no unhittable spot accept the dirt for most of those hitters.

It's as if they abandoned the use of real physics. I don't care how good a hitter a player is in real life there is no way a right handed hitter leaning or reaching for a pitch low and way outside, even with good contact should be able to launch a ball over the centerfield wall. A bloop single to opposite field or a rare hit up the middle should be the best thing possible

Physics and realism go out the window once you start playing people using directional hitting with diamond lineups. If they have any concept of pitch recognition you'll never strike them out.

Hitting is fine to me. You just have to be gentle with the analog stick, use power on hitters counts, and set up in area pre pitch when you have learned your opponents patterns.

The issue i have as well as others is the momentum swings when you have a lead, that give your opponent a chance to tie or take the lead. I would rather skill decide the outcomes then the forced routine errors, or the 0 2 counts pitches out of the zone able to be smashed as part of a momentum swing.

My biggest issue with hitting is the nonsense foul balls on pitches out of the zone when using contact swing. Fine, let them foul it off if they swing in the edge of the zone with the right timing, but you constantly see people fouling off balls a foot out of the zone with very late or very early timing! How is that possible? If you are very late or very early, you should miss the ball completely, regardless of where you swung, yet alone if the ball is miles out of the zone
