Lol. I thought about that after I posted the last post. Yeah, I get stuck in 1 long stream of consciousness thought sometimes, and don't see/feel any breaks. I'll work on that. [emoji41]

My understanding in conversations with developers, at least coming in to this year, was that CFM user log in deeper into a cycle and more often than an average MUT user. The idea that "half don't make it through preseason #1", I was told this was accounted for and was cautiously believed to be people starting them for roster, rating, etc. references not as people giving up and walking away which I can definitely believe. The person I was talking to may have not been correct, but I feel like he probably would have been.

Many casual MUT users "flame out" relatively quickly (try it for a while and move on to another game), or have spotty logins as the year goes. You will get late arrivers, but when you talk "august to August" CFM has better retention OVERALL (Obviously there is a hardcore MUT crowd).Things like the daily login stuff and the loyalty rewards they have done the last couple months I think are trying to force up the daily logins and retention. I think anytime your talking about a mode that has an "expiration date" and spending money is desired by the developer it gets tough to encourage spending as you approach the expiration date.

We could have different information, I am just going off what I heard in passing before this cycle from some devs. As you said though, the spirit either way is pretty obvious. Use CFM to on board MUT, and people should be okay with that as it means they are an integral part to the long term EA plan.

CFM may be the most played mode, but I suspect MUT is the larger sales driver and revenue generator.

Yeah, that's what I meant. I too have been known to post extremely long posts here on OS but I always break it up into small paragraphs, even if, grammatically it would be one long big paragraph.

It just makes it a lot easier to read if you do. People tend to skip over a huge wall of text that is not broken up.

After Rex's tweet from earlier I'm not that excited for sim game style since it looks like it will play just like 17.

I would still hold out some hope it'll be different. I have a feeling it won't be exactly like 17. And/or it might be more like 17 without the patches. I'm thinking mostly on the QB accuracy issue. People said without the patches, they saw more QB inaccuracy. So, maybe sim in 18 will be tweaked even more that? But, overall, yeah, I think 18 sim will play a lot like 17, but I'm still hopeful for little things like QB inaccuracy.

I think you guys need to ease up a bit on the doom and gloom. I really like how the game is improving each year and I'm really optimistic for Madden 18 myself.

Lol. Oh yeah, man. Madden forums have been doom and gloom for a long time. [emoji6]. I was impressed with the changes they made starting with 13, and have been happy with the direction of this team. And, I think there was a good bit of positivity for 16 and 17. People have been mostly happy with Rex, but looks like it might be waning, now. Lol. I'm looking forward to seeing ea play, for sure. I buy every year, and hope for the best, anyways. I think 18 will be solid and if they really did fix a lot of legacy issues, u never know, this really could be the best game ever, and/or it might feel like it plays completely different (in a good way) without those little legacy issues. Right now is pure speculation, also. Lol. No real video out. We'll see.

I havent said much if anything in this thread. But after reading the tweets, listening to the interviews and all that.

I mean. How many years have we had that awful OLine interaction? They just NEVER change it.

How long have we had those canned animations of interactions between DB's and receivers? Im so tired of them, yet every year we get the same thing.

Those things have been huge for Sim players, but Rex doesnt ever mention them, EVER. The last time he was asked a question about either, he went off on a rant about something completely different.

Or "Were working on it." standard response. Then you buy the game and it has not been worked on.

Ive played a ton of Offline CFM in Madden 17. But everytime a 70 overall corner with 5 less points of speed, accel and agility and a Man Cov stat of mid 70s out jumps, out maneuvers and picks off a ball with a canned animation against my Sammy Watkins. Well I just feel like turning off my xbone.

I can handle the OLine stupidity, because they made it a tiny bit better with the last patch. But the canned animations that trigger, not because of stats or attributes or ability of each player, but just because are maddening...oh did you see what I did there?

Madden is Madden, it has changed a lot through the years and has some things it does well and other things that most certainly could be greatly improved. I think some of you guys simply don't like Madden. And that's fine but expecting it to come out and be radically different is unrealistic because that is just not going to happen. This is a game that does pretty well sales wise from an established company to an establish audience that is not going to radically change. Ever.

I'd suggest some of you guys continue to communicate with EA but also to try to start tempering your expectations a bit or look elsewhere for other games that may better give you what you like in regards to modelling a sport.

A few years ago I just decided to enjoy the game for what it is, a video game based upon NFL football. Madden is not a hardcore, complex and in-depth simulation of the game of professional football and never will be.

The thing at least for me is the game did radically change. Way back in the NFL game heyday madden was great, but since the move to 360/PS3 they've been playing catch up, especially in terms of player movement and franchise mode, which back in the day made madden madden.

If I had the option to play a more realistically animating NFL game I would certainly try it but I have no such option.

I'm not the type of person to settle for something just bc it's what everyone else is doing.

I was here and on other forums during the PS2 days. I can assure you that the mood of "Madden is lacking and has all sorts of problems" was in full effect back then just as it is now.

Not saying to settle, just saying to quit acting surprised when you buy the game and it's still Madden football. By now everyone should know what to expect from the game.

I've had that attitude the last couple years. Problem is , in the end, it always ends up being another "Madden" with a new number.
yeah some improvements but little IMO towards authentic gameplay.

Still waiting to see if there's a true coach mode (I haven't been around much so don't know it there's been any mention or not) and if there isn't I have plenty to keep me busy game wise and may buy it once it's under 30.00

I understand....well I had a tipping point with Madden about 3 years ago when I got fed up with some weird stuff in it. I just decided I was either going to accept it for what it was, a fun video game, and give up on it being a great football simulator, or just quit messing with it entirely..

In the end after I quit looking for it to be a real simulation and just started looking at it like being a fun video game I've enjoyed it a lot more.

And unlike many of you I still play Madden 17 a good bit and enjoy it. If Madden 18 is a little better and it's got some new stuff I'll be really happy with it.

I've already preordered the Madden 18 GOAT edition and I'm ready to ball..

Just browsing thru this forum it is amazing to me reading different comment from different generation of players. .....I'm telling my age **cough cough* 47 yrs old and still going strong with Madden since the beginning. ....

What people are expecting in a Video game vs real football is amazing...Has Madden improved over the years you betcha; will it every be a true simulation in every way I doubt it but it doesn't mean you can't enjoy it to its fullest...

I couldn't imagine playing this type of Madden game (which is very good to me in its current state) 20 something years ago lol..I'm telling you younger cats the progression of Madden though not perfect is leaps and bounds better when I first started playing......

Madden back then has never delivered a perfect game and I don't expect now just make the best out what ya have and game on!!!!!
