The way they've described the Longshot timeline so far is that it takes place between the Combine and the Draft. My bet is that all the games will be flashback memories or flashbacks during interviews to determine your answer, with the result of all the flashback results and answers determining your draft position and which of the various endings you will get.


Whether the flashbacks will allow a full season of High School/College football etc or whether it will be a Play the Moment style storyline with a few scripted games I have no idea? I'm hoping it is enough games to feel satisfied and with the absence of NFL games it needs to feel like enough.

I'm with you on this one. I've never played any story mode in sports games before but this looks fun. I know people are all worked up about not being able to play an NFL game but I'm looking forward to playing Pop Warner, 7-on-7 and especially for my team the Texas Longhorns. This will be a fun little mode to hold me over until the opening week rosters release for CFM.

Yeah, I don't get that decision either. As someone said, why not just make it so your character can be added to whatever team drafts you and story mode then ends and you play Superstar mode or whatever? But with that being said I am still excited for the story mode. Maybe I'm a weirdo, at least here on OS, but this looks pretty cool to me.

I've enjoyed the story mode in sports games every since the Spike Lee NBA game story a while back. I think it really adds something a lot different than the typical exhibitions, online and season/franchise modes.

My guess is it'll be like NBA, The Show and other games story modes where you are put in the championship game or the playoffs of whatever area you are in and just play shortened versions of those games.

In an of itself this looks really, really cool. The major complaints I've seen is that (a) it took resources away from Franchise and (b) it doesn't appear you can use your player beyond this mode.

If those are both true, I STILL want Longshot to be successful for the simple reason that in the future it could be integrated into Franchise mode.

I imagine maybe you'd be able to either go with the generated drafts or load your "Longshot" draft at any given year, which would be awesome. Especially if going forward the commentary remembers Devin Wade, lol (or whoever it is in the future).

When you're playing these high school/college games, will you be given a high school/college type play book? Like will I be given more spread formations as opposed to I-formation?

I don't really think that'll be the case. You probably will not even get to choose the plays. It's seeming like it'll be a lot of QTE moments with maybe some actual game play sprinkled in.

I don't really think that'll be the case. You probably will not even get to choose the plays. It's seeming like it'll be a lot of QTE moments with maybe some actual game play sprinkled in.

I want to know if we play those games. Like you said I just think we just do certain plays. I don't we even play a full game(at least 4 5-minute quarters) in Longshot mode. I hope I'm wrong, but I think those games will mainly show Cinematic scenes and just do certain plays at end of game.

It will be like the opening game/cutscenes for the past 3 maddens. You'll have to score a td or fg to tie the game then lead a game winning drive or something. It's just gonna be a whole lot of situational gameplay and not full games.
