@14:50 there is still a 10% boost in ratings for usering DL. Why?? SIMULATION. I don't want my button presses to supersede ratings!!!!!!! They just don't get it man. -

he said on simulation mode you have a 10% success bonus for usering a defensive lineman but not on competitive mode, that has to be a mix up right? he means it the other way around I think? he stresses how competitive mode is supposed to be able skill so why would it not be that way? He mixes simulation and competitive up just a few sentences later so I'm hopeful it was just a mixup. But if that really is what he meant then I'm really shocked and disappointed.Comment

Re: Rex Dickson talks Madden 18, Legacy Fixes, Madden for PC, and much more.
No he spoke correctly about the User boost for DL being on sim. It use to be on competitive mode too, but for some bizzaro reason competitive players think that it's bad form to User Dline, but don't feel that way about roaming around the field with an OP linebacker or safety.
I sent a tweet to Rex saying that all User boosts should be removed from simulation mode. I'm going to keep bringing this up until it's gone. All sim heads need hit him and Clint up on this point.
I think Rex was wrong about how off-ball injuries work, although he did admit that he wasn't sure. I'm pretty sure Clint said that it will happen with other collisions between players besides linemen.
Not that it would make people less angry about why it's not going to happen, but everyone should hear about why there is no PC version. Sorry PC peeps, but I 100% support his reasoning for not having it.
You can tell that he really doesn't like that Longshot drained the resources away from the core modes.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

I noticed that last year. I never really heard of the boost before. I just thought I was playing well lolComment

Re: Rex Dickson talks Madden 18, Legacy Fixes, Madden for PC, and much more.
Answers were pretty much what I expected regarding drops/overthrows on competitive. Even just hearing "100%" in the context of a game emulating a real life sport makes me shudder, but that is apparently what the competitive community wants. They want to play Madden, not football (to butcher a quote from a long-time simhead-turned game developer).
At least we have our choice of how to play this year, and both styles can be tuned seperately. He did mention that the "low-end" of QB accuracy could be tuned down for Sim now that they're seperated, so I do see that as a positive for the sim community, at least.Comment

I can see that in his interviews. Where he would like to focus on franchise more, but out of his control. The emphasis is to expand the Madden market to more casual user and make it more accessible and learning experience.Comment

Re: Rex Dickson talks Madden 18, Legacy Fixes, Madden for PC, and much more.
One thing I think is what make a lot of people disappointed with current gen was that it had heighten expectations. Last gen, the main issue was limited space on console. So when next gen came out and seen what other games could do, there was high expectations. Now we're realizing that limited resources is now the new issue. Marketing also seems to be a issue. Where, in interview, the feeling is obvious. He can't really say anything bad about them or management, but he knows there is more restrictions of what progress is made. I get it, there has to be a back of box features each year. They can't promote "Improved Franchise mode" there has to be a big feature they would have to promote about Franchise. But i don't like to hear how he had to creative just to make sure to fix issues.Last edited by illwill10; 06-24-2017, 12:47 AM.Comment

Re: Rex Dickson talks Madden 18, Legacy Fixes, Madden for PC, and much more.
It still irks me a little bit when he refers to CFM as a simulation mode. Simulation players might be the majority of people that play it but the mode is Arcade to a fault.
The one thing he mentioned about telemetry and how they basically tuned the game so that there would be only 3-4 picks a game so that it would fall in line with simulation standards, I think that's definitely a good thing to a certain extent, like with penalties, but in the scenario where he mentioned with dropped picks and such, I think it presents a different issue where trying to fix one problem creates another. Someone posted the PFF tweet in the Moody thread that said there were 260 dropped INT's in the NFL last year, that's almost exactly 1 per team, per game. So I'd hope that when they look at that telemetry and see that there's probably like 6-7 dropped picks a game, they're also looking into why that happens and ways to improve that as well. Whether it be bad user reads, not being able to throw the ball where you want to, defenders going for picks in less favorable scenarios, bad AI decision making, etc. It's great that you can tune that down to where it stays within the limits of realism but ultimately it's very much a shortcut to achieving the data you want rather than having gameplay that can organically provide that to you which should always be the goal.Comment

Disappointed he didn't give Rex a hard time about Franchise Mode, considering the source.Comment
