Thanks Rizzo...This was definitely a wild one. Just one big play after another, both ways. I had to double check a couple of times just to make sure my game settings were still intact.

And with your mention of the fans, this would be a good time for me to take the opportunity to state that the "custom sounds project" mentioned during this past off-season was an incredible success. I highly encourage anyone playing the NCAA series to use it. It adds so much life and atmosphere to the game. Mardi Gras music after first downs and extra points, local New Orleans rap instrumentals during timeouts, etc...wow, what an addition. I've never been more hyped playing this game than when I heard Ludacris' "Move B____h" play over the P.A. after a turnover.

Thanks man. This three game slate was very scary going in, but we got through it, even without our starting quarterback most of the way. I am really encouraged by the way we look thus far.

And yes, I agree - the all-green, especially with th dome lights reflecting off of it, just flat out looks special. With Tulane being a good team in this fantasy universe, the all-green look in the dome just looks absolutely menacing.

Now that is how you get revenge! Tompkins was playing just absolutely out of his mind football and seems to be finally living up to the hype that he garnered when he was originally recruited. Playing like this, he will have the fans saying "Deuce, who?" It has been so much fun to watch this team truly become his.

If McBride can clean up those turnovers, this offense is only going to get even more scary good.

Looking forward to seeing what LSU has on paper for this next matchup. You have been putting the foot down on former big brother though for quite some time.

Love that shot of Tony in the tunnel! Beautiful work as always my friend!
Tony was incredible and absolutely in the zone. I don't know what it was, but the holes just opened up well in this one and all open field moves just all seemed to work this game. My only regret was not knowing that he was only 5 yards away from Matt Forte's school record. I took him out in the fourth quarter to protect him from injury, but if I had known he was that close, I would have left him in. Oh well.

Really looking forward to seeing the head to head matchup versus Deuce Monroe is a few weeks!

On McBride - His mistakes were both direct results of being hit while throwing. He (I) just need to do a better job of recognizing when those situations are coming and not trying to throw.

Appreciate the compliments as always good friend.

LMAO...ol' C-Murder. Good stuff. That video looks like it was shot with a cell phone.

I know you'd appreciate this more than anyone - my Custom Stadium Sounds plays Mystikal's "Here I Go" at the end of the third quarter and the "Nolia Clap" instrumental at timeouts.

The Wave is looking nice so far. We just have to keep our focus, even against lesser teams. One thing I have learned through each and every season of this Part II project is that ANYBODY can creep up on you.

Jonathan Smith's amazing start to the 2024 season is starting to get noticed.

Tulane | DB Smith makes ESPN's weekly Heisman Watch list
        Tue, 10 Sept 2024 13:10:01 -0700

        report courtesy Dianna Russini

Dianna Russini of ESPN.com reports that Tulane starting DB Jonathan Smith (85 ovr) has been named on ESPN.com Heisman Watch List after week 3. Smith, who is the team's starting strong safety in their base 3-4 defense and plays as a slot cornerback in nickel and dime sets, has had a stellar start to the 2024 season.

Through 3 games this season, Smith has amassed an eye-poping stat line, notching 34 total tackles, 6 tackles for losses, 3 sacks, 4 interceptions, and 2 touchdowns.

A defensive player has not won the Heisman Trophy since 1999 when former Michigan DB Charles Woodson took home the prestigious trophy. To date, Woodson is the only Heisman winner who played primarily on defense, and he is also the last Heisman winner that did not play either quarterback or running back.

Senior WR Jason Mason tweeted his frustration after catching just 1 pass in last Saturday's win versus Notre Dame.

Tulane | WR Mason growing frustrated with role
        Tue, 10 Sept 2024 13:37:01 -0700

        report courtesy Megan Kluth, TulaneInsider.com

Meghan Kluth of TulaneInsider.com reports that Green Wave senior WR Jason Mason (92 ovr) has expressed dissatisfaction to members of the team's coaching staff due to his role in the team's offense after three games this season. Mason, a former blue chip recruit that was the nation's #1 high school wide receiver prospect in 2021, has had a somewhat disappointing career in New Orleans thus far, as he has failed to live up to the lofty expectations placed upon him early in his career. He has failed to tally more than 38 recptions in any year of his career, and so far in 2024, he has caught only 5 receptions for 36 yards and no touchdowns.

Kluth's report comes on the heels of a tweet Mason made less than an hour after Saturday's 59-34 win over Notre Dame and later deleted, in which he cryptically stated "Closed mouths don't get fed."

"I feel like the opportunities will come," Mason said, via TulaneInsider.com. "But at the same time this is a very emotional game and every once in a while you have to express that and you have to express what you want. Closed mouths don't get fed."

He added: I was a little frustrated, but at the same time our offense is moving the ball, we are winning the games, so that's the bright side of it. I was just thinking from a competition standpoint. I always want to help. I feel like I really haven't at all."

Mason is coming off a career year in which he caught 38 passes for 764 yards and 7 touchdowns last season, as he spent the majority of the second half of 2023 serving as the team's #1 wide receiver in place of then-injured starter Brandon McIntyre.

That's amazing to see Smith listed in the top-5 for the Heisman Trophy! Would be unbelievable to see a defensive player win it for the first time in forever.

As for Mason, I've never been his biggest fan and this isn't going to help him in my eyes. Time for him to start winning the battles on the field to get open rather than spouting off via the Twittersphere.

I had a DB listed in a Heisman preseason watch list one time after he has a great season as a return man, but we couldn't put it together. I hope you break the drought!

Thanks man. I must say, I have never had this much fun playing defense. Between the play of Smith and the multitude of blitz concepts this playbook offers, it really feels like I am playing offense when on defense by forcing the issue rather than sitting back and "defending."

Yes. One of the many things I love about the NCAA gaming series is that every once in a while, an unheraled player comes out of nowhere and becomes a superstar. Sure, he was a 4-star recruit and we expected good play from him, but I really never envisioned this guy emerging as the type of elite stud he's become. He is just a flat-out playmaker.

What has hurt Jason Mason has been the emergence of Michael Brown Jr. (another somewhat unheralded guy that starting to reveal himself as a potential star). He just hasn't been a part of our game plans up to this point, especially with a young passer under center. That said, I do like his matchup this week versus LSU's #2 corner, so he may seem some more opportunities. Hopefully that stops him from chirping to the media. lol

Haha...your post kind of is a good precusor to my next twitter update. I'm going to do all that I can to try to keep Smith in the Heisman conversation, including giving him some opportunities in the return game.

As for the betting line - I put a lot of thought into those than most probably realize. For this game, this is a team that we blew out last season, but only beat by 4 the last time we played at Tiger Stadium. With a young QB in McBride making his first appearance in an SEC road game along with this being a rival, I'm going -7 /12. We are superior on paper, but unless we get some early momentum, this could be a tough team to pull away from.

Same here...Glad to see that this, in the early season at least, is something that is possible in this game. This has certainly provided a nice subplot for this season; I'll try to keep track of his progress reporting-wise. Hopefully he can keep up the big plays and maybe add a kick/punt return TD or two for his resume!

Game 4, Year 15 Preview (2024 season): #9 Tulane Green Wave at LSU Tigers

Latest Line (courtesy Bovada - Las Vegas):

                    ....................7 1/2....................

Tulane QB Bryce Allen celebrates after his first career rushing touchdown put the game away in the third quarter.

Last Meeting: Last season, then-#16 Tulane had no problems disposing of then-#13 LSU, defeating the arch rival Tigers 28-3 last season at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Senior QB Bryce Allen threw for 3 touchdowns and rushed for another to lead the Green Wave offense as the team improved to 2-2 on the year. The story of the game however was the play of the Green Wave defense, which held LSU to just 220 yards of offense and three points, including limiting QB John Blount to just 131 passing yards. The win for Tulane pushed head coach D. Geezy's record versus the Wave's in-state rivals to 9-3 overall, with the Tigers' last win coming in a 31-27 contest in Baton Rouge during the 2016 season.

2022 - Former Tulane TE Steven Carpenter, along with wide receivers Jason Mason and Brandon McIntyre, among others, all went to midfield after last season's win to celebrate on LSU's "Eye of the Tiger," angering LSU coaches and players.

Last Meeting at Venue: Two seasons ago, in a game that featured 7 lead-changes, then-#2 ranked Tulane was able to stave off unranked LSU's upset attempt and hold on for a close 26-22 victory at Tiger Stadium. Then-sophomore QB Bryce Allen found fellow sophomore WR Brandon McIntyre for a 7-yard scoring hookup that gave Tulane the lead for good at 23-22 late in the third quarter. Allen finished the game with 234 passing yards and 2 touchdown passes, both to McIntyre, who finished the day with 6 receptions for 76 yards.

                    Head Coach D. Geezy's Take

Tulane head coach D. Geezy addressed the media Friday morning in Baton Rouge.

Obviously LSU is a team we know a lot about. They don't like us and we don't like them. We've had our way with them for the past several seasons, but nonetheless, we know they're going to bring their A-game tomorrow night.

They aren't the flashiest team in the world, but what they do well is run the ball and play good defense in the trenches. RB Eric Robinson (83 ovr) is a bruiser as is versatile FB Arnold Horton (83 ovr), who gave us problems a couple of years ago in our game here.

Defensively, their defensive line is very good, especially in the interior. DT Tyrone Hollis (86 ovr) is a player we once recruited very hard and he's going to be a handful in the middle for our running game.

This will be Jimmy McBride's first time playing an SEC road game, and I think it is important for him to remain poised and not get caught up in the atmosphere. The last time we made this short bus trip here to Baton Rouge to face the Tigers, it was an extremely close contest that came down to the wire, and we expect the same type of smash-mouth contest.

                    - Tulane head coach D. Geezy

                    .

Yes...The way Tompkins is playing is a big reason why I want to lighten his load on returns. He's become such a valuable part of our offensive attack and I'm starting to find that his fatigue levels are getting too low in the second half. I hate to remove such a beast of a return man, but I need to reel it in some with him. Plus I need to show my boy Jonathan Smith some special teams love if I truly want him to have a legit shot at the Heisman.

It took me a second to catch on to that short bus joke. LOL Hardy har har.

Time to kick this one off...it'll be a wet one tonight in Baton Rouge!
