Re: More WWE 2K18 Details Revealed - 8 Man Matches, New Commentary Team & Much More
Was just coming to post this here, but here's an article link if you want to attach that to the OP as well in case people don't want to watch the YouTube videos

At a recent developer conference, 2K talked about a significant overhaul to the annual WWE video game.
That got me really excited. I just traded in 2K17 the other day to take advantage of GameStop, but I might be more intrigued with this one, especially the commentary news. If they can replicate the NBA system, then this could be great.
If you don't want to go through the whole article or video:
- MyPlayer boasts new progression and upgrade systems that are designed to foster repeat gameplay
- My Career mode will be shorter, with branching options and experiences. It will also introduce character archetypes with Fighting Styles
- Free-roaming backstage that will be three times larger than previous installments.
- WWE Universe mode will have an expanded, rewritten story system, so that storylines can persist through pay-per-views, can overlap, and more.
- Universe mode is also expected to fully support the brand split
- 2K promises a new online My Player game mode called Road to Glory (no details revealed yet)
- There will be a new create-a-match feature, which will allow you to actually save a specific match type and be able to have it added to the list of match options
- Create-a-video feature will now include a free camera
- Little said that the WWE 2K team was tired of trying to catch up to the NBA 2K team in terms of graphics, so they decided to just outdo them, by rewriting their entire graphics system from the ground up via new lighting, skin, camera, and texture effects
- There will be a whole new announce team in 2K18, or at least a whole new pairing, as Michael Cole will be joined by Corey Graves and Byron Saxton
- Graves, Saxton, and Cole have been recording together since 2K17 came out. There have been a couple of sessions with all three recording lines together, but there have also been sessions of all three combinations of two
- Sound design has undergone an overhaul. There will be new chants, new arena sounds (as well as new arenas, of course), and a new ring announcer, JoJo
- WWE 2K18 will have the ability to have eight men or women in the ring at one time. You’ll be able to have ladder matches, Royal Rumble matches, and battles royal with up to eight participants in the ring at once
- Little put the amount of wrestlers in the game at likely over 170Last edited by cdub71323; 07-05-2017, 09:30 AM. -

Reading they are bringing back create a story is great. Now hopefully they have learned from the past and have figured out how to allow us to upload these created stories to Universe. That would truly help expand the replay factor.Check out my updated 2017 blog on building a high school football video game:

Having 8 in the ring is huge. Hopefully they've done some stuff with the rumble as it hasn't changed in years.

Just about everything sounds good with the exception of changes to mycareer.
They have described it as a launching point for the new online mode Road to Glory. Sounds like those of us that want a full offline career experience may be disappointed.
It matters little to me as I barely touched that mode. I almost exclusively play universe mode so I am hoping the story upgrades there are considerable

Re: More WWE 2K18 Details Revealed - 8 Man Matches, New Commentary Team & Much More
The only two things I hope for (One of which is highly unlikely):
1. Create a story for Universe (like someone else mentioned in here)
and (the unlikely one)
2. Inserting your own music for entrance themes. Or if not, just let us you the whole WWE audio library.
For the second one, I wouldn't need an in-game music editor because worst comes to worst I can edit the song on my laptop and move it over that wayComment

Re: More WWE 2K18 Details Revealed - 8 Man Matches, New Commentary Team & Much More
If they can't do custom music, that suggestion would solve a lot of our problems. Sure, there might be a few songs that weren't WWE originals that we can't use and some of the indy wrestlers wouldn't get their actual songs, but it would cut down on repeat songs for wrestlers too. Also, if the song is on the sound track, allow it to be used as well.
Great suggestion!Check out my updated 2017 blog on building a high school football video game:

Re: More WWE 2K18 Details Revealed - 8 Man Matches, New Commentary Team & Much More
I don't know how to feel. One one hand, if asked, I would've told you that commentary and lack of atmosphere in Universe are my biggest issues with the series. Yet, they're both getting addressed but to what extent is unknown.
For commentary, I'm encouraged by the revamp and borrowing from NBA2K. I just hope this means the old system was ripped out and completely replaced. I'm reminded of when Madden commentary transitioned to Gus Johnson and/or the CBS crew and the initial excitement. However, it quickly became apparent it was the technology holding the game back, not necessarily the talent.
As for Universe, each review I've read gives me the impression that it got attention but wasn't a focus this cycle. I'm OK with that to a degree, but leaves me wondering if it'll get repetitive and quickly as in previous years. I do like organic storylines, but they still have work to do in making the atmosphere feel alive and not just match after match.

Re: More WWE 2K18 Details Revealed - 8 Man Matches, New Commentary Team & Much More
New commentary was my top request and has been for years, so they definitely have my attention. I've bought every WWE game for years, but I really haven't gotten my money's worth the last couple years. Maybe that'll change with 2K18.
I've always thought the WWE games lagged behind other sports titles when it comes to graphics, and while I know it's a challenge to get it up to par with other sports games because of all the crazy lighting that goes on in wrestling, I really hope this year's game takes a step ahead in the looks department.

Really? I feel like a revamped story mode/split brands/revamped promos and multiples stories at the same time is sign that it was a focus.I don't know how to feel. Re: More WWE 2K18 Details Revealed - 8 Man Matches, New Commentary Team & Much More
I'm most excited about hearing about them apparently fixing Community Creations search. It was so mind numbingly frustrating to use CC. It's maddening to search for Kurt Angle or Jeff Hardy and go through every type of piece of crap creation BUT a Jeff Hardy or to never get the same results for every name search. I remember looking for Eddie Guererro once because I wanted an alternate attire for him. I found two good ones but I only had 1 download left for the day (sick of that bull**** too but that's another discussion) I downloaded one and went back the next day for the other, I spent 15 minutes going through those crappy searches typing in Eddie's name in different ways and using the provided Hashtag for him and I never found that one again until two days later I randomly tried and that one popped up. That's unacceptable.Comment
