Re: Another good article on lack of CFM improvements by game informer

It's not like it's the first year in madden history franchise will go untouched. There are decisions to be made and I get that. What really sours me though is the thought they have taken resources away from madden to try to save the sinking NBA elite ship.

Re: Another good article on lack of CFM improvements by game informer

It's a sinking ship that they are trying to upright.

Besides the animations issues with Live, there appears to be a lot of positive momentum for anticipation of the game, at least in the OS forums, from a game play POV.

And, actually, at the end of the article, the writer is excited for the upcoming Longshot and perhaps the forging together of Longshot and CFM at some point.

I'm sure this won't be the last we hear about the lack of CFM updates, and just like I said in the other thread, the websites need to keep hammering the nail with the lack of improvements to CFM.Last edited by roadman; 07-12-2017, 11:06 AM.Comment

Re: Another good article on lack of CFM improvements by game informer

Pretty good article and agree with most of what he said. I'm also a bit concerned about CFM's future because of them combining resources for both Madden and Live.

I'm not really sure if this is a good thing or not to be honest. I feel like Live is so far behind Madden and if EA is waiting for it to play catch up that could be a problem.

I also feel like they devote maybe a handful of devs to CFM at the very most. Not enough to really make an impact.Comment

From a business perspective, and not a gamers perspective, if Live does well, that can only good news for business on the EA front.Pretty good article and agree with most of what he said. I'm also a bit concerned about CFM's future because of them combining resources for both Madden and Live.

Re: Another good article on lack of CFM improvements by game informer

This quote pretty much sums up my thoughts. They want to try and spin it in a way to make it look like it's going to benefit both sides long term but there's no certainty at all that NBA Live will even be around next year. That title isn't exactly what I'd call the poster child for stability and if it's gone again within one or two years then this is a completely wasted year in terms of CFM.And since the NBA Live franchise is still finding its footing and Madden's CFM feature set has a head start, how much catch-up is NBA Live going to have to do and will this slow down the evolution of CFM?

To me, this far more concerning for CFM than Longshot. I don't even think Longshot has much to do in terms of CFM resources as much as it does presentation, it's just an easier target. It's such a double edged sword too because if NBA Live and Longshot both fail, that's not really good for anything except "I told you so." And if they and Madden both succeed, it tells them that it's perfectly acceptable to neuter resources and not add to the mode and makes it more likely moving forward.

It wouldn't be nearly as annoying if last year wasn't such a crap shoot as well but when you pair what they hyped up last year to be with doing hardly anything this year it's just like come on, man.Comment

So for CFM guys (I'm not a diehard like many of you), these articles are nothing but good news IMO. With bad publicity like this, the higher ups at EA must not be happy with how the game is being received in this light.

We all see the new features being added this year but for questions already being raised, it should only help sway EA to focus no CFM next year.Comment

Re: Another good article on lack of CFM improvements by game informer

The real issue here , to many is this, EA has more than enough money they could afford a hire a team for NBA Live franchise mode. They almost act like this is 1914 , and the only way they have to share info is to have same person work on two things , or wait a month for a letter to be delivered to get new news from the other person involved. Its 2017. They could easily communicate daily , thru skype, video conferences, etc. I dont think anyone would care had they done that. But instead they use it as an excuse not do much for CFM.I would not mind if Live did come back as the once good game i enjoyed long ago, but not at the cost of screwing over CFM.From a small indie dev group, i would , as most, understand that move. But from a company as large as EA is , there is no good excuse for not just hiring on someone to take care of Live franchise.

If it does succeed as they hope, they will have to hire someone anyway to dev the franchise area, so why not get him or her in at the start of it ?

That last part right there, is like the icing on this cake really. Hyped up last year , only to be no more than beofre. Yet "most resources ever, focus on franchise" . So we go from that farce, to this year where its , "well nba live is more important and we refuse to spend money to improve that title as we should , we will just steal from CFMs" , already too small team who works on CFM....And they will wonder why people arent happy with that choice?Last edited by howboutdat; 07-12-2017, 12:20 PM.Comment

Didn't we hear this kind of thing just recently? Wasn't CCM (now CFM) billed as a way to more quickly add features to franchise? Since it was suppose to make resources more efficient? But franchise (non gameplay) still hasn't really recovered from the gutting from CCM. It's so hard to believe the hype.Comment

Same was also said about the ignite engine, along with alot of other promises it never even came close to fulfilling . Having all their sports games on one engine was going to make it much easier to share things between titles.Yet to this day , i still hear about how FIFA has good physics , yet madden , not even close to that.Along with many other things ....Yet people wonder why numerous want to call EA on their BS.Didn't we hear this kind of thing just recently? I'm not so sure that the suits at EA mind as long as the sales are up and MUT is making steady cash. I don't even think they read up on forums like OS to see how the public is responding to lack of CFM changes. So for CFM guys (I'm not a diehard like many of you), these articles are nothing but good news IMO. Re: Another good article on lack of CFM improvements by game informer

They used the move to the ignite engine across the Madden, FIFA and NHL as an opportunity to share resources to better all three titles when the NG consoles came out. I only play Madden and NHL of the three and can't say that I ever saw anything to suggest that there were any shared resources (models, physics or the such). Hoping that the move to Frostbite changes that, but ain't going to hold my breath.Comment

Truth is , if those suits gave any care about CFM, we would not be having these talks we are having now. The proof is well within the pudding.A long history of it at that.Comment

Re: Another good article on lack of CFM improvements by game informer

I know I'm gonna sound like a broken record saying this, but anyone who thinks this doesn't understand software development. Paradoxically, throwing more people at a project which is behind schedule only makes it fall further behind. To that end, just saying "they should hire more people" is actually the exact wrong decision, particularly on a product like Live which has already been delayed several times.

As others (Adembroski) have said, Madden and NBA Live share franchise tech, so moving people from Madden to Live to get Live working is in fact a more correct decision for Live a project management perspective. It sucks for Madden franchise fans that Madden's franchise isn't going to get much love this year, sure, but it's not the gloom and doom scenario people are painting it to be, and franchise mode is absolutely in better shape than the people on this board like to claim it is.

The "suits" don't care about a mode that 65% of their user base touches, I'm sure.

This attitude that EA doesn't care about their core users which has emerged on this forum over the past two months is incredibly unbecoming and it is not constructive feedback for the developers. It is going to stop.Comment
