Basically vision dictates how well a batter can square a pitch up. I have Nelson Cruz who has a vision rating in the 30's and he will "just miss" a pitch a lot more then Kyle Seager will who has a vision rating in the low 80's.
Contact rating is basically directly related to batting average. In other words it dictates whether you will hit it at someone for an out or hit it past them for a single, double etc.
Discipline is directly related to the batter chasing pitches out of the zone or being patient and taking those pitches.
Perfect example is Jose Bautista who has like a 99 discipline but low vision so he won't chase but you can challenge him if need be as he will struggle to square it up at times.
