Nobody else's car other than the player's  seems to be sliding on the dirt yet the AI are maintaining the same speed, if not faster, than the player...

Visually the game looks great in my opinion.

However, I do agree with desperado and wonder if it's linked to the AI Difficulty being set to 103.

My biggest gripe continues to be a lot of bumping and I didn't see too much damage, granted there was no real devastating contact. Really need to see The Big One at Daytona or Talladega to see if damage model is improved.

Does the AI induce yellows often? Or is it just human induced?

Yeah, I think this is an A.I. difficulty issue. The A.I. doesn't actually race smarter on higher settings, it just seems as though their top speed and acceleration is improved. IIRC in last year's game, A.I. 100 was a 1/1 ratio and the highest A.I. setting was 105, so at 103 you'd be seeing A.I. cars that are significantly faster than your car.

Something that hasn't been pointed out as of yet in this video... new spotter audio. It's not a ton but thank God anyway.

is it me, or once again, does it seem really easy for the driver to go from last to first within 4 laps... it was the same on the main tracks when we've seen video... makes me worried ... still waiting to purchase that thrust master T150 Pro until I see it in action and hear real feedback from members of the OS community

              Nothing special here IMO.

Visually... looks awfully similar. That's not a good thing, but it's not a bad thing either. It's just... it still looks pretty far off what a current gen title should.

Sounds alot better though. That's a plus.

As for the racing... looks about the same. Player car seems to do alot of sliding, which is nice since it's dirt track racing. However, the AI cars seem glued to the track again. I mean, they should be sliding too... It's DIRT. Aside from that though, even the contact between the player and the AI, does nothing to the AI, yet contact from the AI to the player caused issues. IMO, that was one of the worst parts of the first game... and it appears alive and well in NH2 as well.

Wait and see mode still for me. They burned me bad first time around, so I'm going to need to see alot more to pick this up at full price this year. Love the additions of Xfinity and the trucks, and the way that should help career mode, but if the racing isn't much better, and its still limited in features present in most racing games (from a control standpoint) then I'll wait for a good deal, or a used copy somewhere.

A couple things, first I hope we can turn the driver names off. I like my racing games to have the look of realism and seeing names like last years game ruined it for me. Second, still not blown away by the look/graphic's I'm seeing. I just bought the Forza 6 Nascar pack for $5.00 and it looks miles better then this graphic's wise. I know graphic's aren't everything but this is 2017 and we have some fairly powerful consoles so I expect to see realistic looking games from all developers. (See Project Cars 2 , Gran Turismo Sport, Forza 7) Heat 2 should be on par with those.

MXGP 3 was another let down in the graphic's department.

Not trying to play Devils Advocate, but Forza probably has a much bigger budget hence the enhanced graphics.

But I get what you are saying. Personally I am fine with the current graphics, would not argue though if they were to bring them up to par with Forza if the budget allows. I just have a problem with damage model and physics.

NASCAR Heat Evolution and NASCAR Heat 2 both run on the Unity gaming engine, which is the flashing blue light special of gaming engines.

The Golf Club, The Golf Club 2 and Verdun -- all produced by small development houses -- also run on Unity. And the graphics on all three of those games are marginal at best.

Unity is a cross-platform game engine that started for the simplicity of iOS gaming and has branched out into other platforms. It never will be as detailed as something proprietary like Frostbite.

And to me, it's the thing holding this game back the most. It just seems too limited. Even the way the visuals were in the first Nascar Heat game, it still struggled to keep a decent framerate. I'd be shocked if it even carried 30fps consistently. As a matter of fact, I can almost guarantee it doesn't on a console. Especially if you turn on the rear view mirror, and an accident happens somewhere. It just slows right down.

Aside from visuals, I feel like it's always going to hold back the mechanics, physics, options/driving aids etc. etc.

Maybe I'm off base here. I'm not a programmer obviously. However, it just seems everything I've ever played using unity feels a gaming generation behind.

I feel the same way. I don't think you need to be a programmer to see a game like Forza in action and realize that things could be much, much better in terms of performance.

Absolutely. Now of course, they're working with a much bigger team, and budget in the Forza series. So I don't think it's fair to compare what they're doing here with NH2 to Forza. Although I do get your overall point.

I think the better comparison is the F1 series from Codemasters. I don't know what they're using, but it's light years beyond what NH has done, and likely will ever be able to do with Unity. To be fair, I know they've been working on F1 for much longer, and Codies are a well established team and such.

I think that's the type of thing the folks working on NH2 should be working towards though. If they can't accomplish that with Unity, then something has to change or they're just not going to be able to accurately represent the sport. I'm sure there's a reason they picked it (I'd guess it was cost), I just hope they can find a way to get more out of it than what we've seen with other games using it.

The Game looks weird again! There is only one Guy that made a good NASCAR Game: Dave Kaemmer (Papyrus, Iracing) Forget Heat 2, its too arcadish and cant fulfill your hope and realism.
