Which version of 2k17 was the best?

I've noticed a lot of people saying that Prelude (prior to any patching) was the best version of 2k17 and that the patches just made it gradually worse.

I'm wondering if that's the general consensous on this board or not.

So vote in the poll! Also, how do you feel about all the patches/tweaks in general? Do you like them? Loathe them?

2K17 was a great game when it first came out, I don't remember exactly what patch ruined it but it was around november/december. The game is basically 2K16.5 now, which was one of the worst 2Ks ever to me.

That's too many patches to remember what each one did. But I liked it best at the very beginning.

Whatever patch resulted in a month long of constant pro-am disconnects and brought us the infamous free throw timeout cheese, is the worst patch in the history of 2k

People need to keep in mind that the prelude was on rookie or pro. That's a big part of why it felt better imo. Lower difficulty means less bumping and the cpu not being so magnetic/glue-like.

The main thing i remember from the prelude was the centers running faster than usain bolt. And of course a tutorial pop up ever 10 or 20 seconds.

i cant remember which patch but i do remeber it started with a "shots tweak" and it was all down hill from there. 2k just listened to whoever was crying the loudest and try to appease them. you cant please everyone or even most people. put your game out, fix what you and your developement team feels need to be fixed. once christmas rolls around just leave the game alone lol

The game, right out of the box, was pretty solid. The patches made it worse as it went on, then corrected the other way, and then they eventually settled with what we have now -- which is, IMO, below average and not as good as 2K16.

I people say this is the "worst 2k" but I absolutley loved the ability to control my players dribble moves compared to 2k16. I also loved the new MyLeague/MyGM additions (especially the draft protections).

              I gave it a solid 8/10

Patch 1 completely ruined my MyPlayer's perfect face scan.

They fixed it, but what isn't fixed is people not being taken to the walk-on arena and having to try several times over and over again while waiting in loading screens.

And it's 99% going to be an issue again in the next game.

I think before Patch 2 or 3, 2k17 was the best game they've ever dropped in terms of pure gameplay.

Straight outta the box i enjoyed the hell out of this game. I hyped it up to all my basketball friends. Then at some point i started to feel like it was way more frustrating to play. My hands were always tense while playing. I felt like i had to really push my controller's buttons really hard to get my player to do what i wanted it do. Obviously how hard you push a button makes no difference in ps4, but it gives you an idea of how it felt to play.

2K needs to be way more discerning about which complainers they listen to. They should just create a list of trusted people from the internet and just listen to them. Sam Pham should be one of them. LorenzoDC should be another. Lots of other guys here are trusted sources.

This. Day One. The responsiveness was so good, I think I could have lived with every problem except when they started bringing back the sluggishness to the dribbling animations etc or whatever they started tuning.

He posts videos on how to run an effective offense using plays. Not really cheesing.
