Re: NHL 18 Players with Real Faces

So here's the list so far! My thoughts; it's a pretty good looking list. We seem to have made some noise on this thread last year. I think I got all the big names for the most part. I expect to add prospects and maybe more depth players once the full game is released and/or when the first roster update arrives.

As you notice team logos are starting to disappear on the list. I'll look into getting that fixed once the beta closes. I also did a cleanup in the Free Agents section since many of the names were long gone. Once the game is out I'll scan the free agents list and remove any extras remaining.

Please share any players I may have missed!

Pretty sure Draisaitl's face is just a slightly modded version of one of the standard versions. Doesn't really look like him, imo.

Overall, not nearly enough to make a team really look like in reality. One of the many disappointing stuff in the NHL franchise. It wasn't hard to produce cyberfaces for NHL 08 and 09 on PC and the devs have way better tools to generate cyberfaces pretty automatically. Dunno why they don't make use of it.

It's yet another thing that would be less frustrating if we could fix it ourselves. Parayko, Edmundson, Bortuzzo and Gunnarsson all look nothing like themselves, and I'm stuck with it because EA refuses to spend any time making the player creation portion of the game any better. It's been 10 years of wishing for improvements in this area, and while most other games have advanced their player editing to new levels, EA is still using the "pick a head that looks kinda close" method.

I agree with the idea that being able to edit heads to our liking would be a blessing. But let's also be honest, with the exception of Parayko, how often will the rest of the names mentioned be on screen? The list is impressive because names that generate a great deal of offence, and will be seen in scoring cutscenes now have their real face. There are still clutch names missing like Forsberg or Arvidsson in Nashville, but let's admit there is an improvement. We usually get a dozen stars and a few prospects. We still haven't identified all prospects.

I guess my point is that if it were up to the fans, it wouldn't matter what arbitrary reasons there were for guys to be in game.

In The Show, every guy's got a pretty realistic base model to work off of. I called up the Brewers outfield Prospect, and even he was a pretty close likeness to himself. This is a kid who's never played in the MLB. But in the NHL series, guys who have been in the league for the better part of a decade aren't modeled. Hell, half of most teams aren't even in the game.

It's just crazy to me that EA still sticks to this old system that produces awful results. I'm not even 100% talking about the face model, but just general things like beards, facial hair, etc. They mess up handedness sometimes, and that's a huge deal in the game.

Re: NHL 18 Players with Real Faces

Based on tweets around the draft I think Vilardi has a real face.

Also TJ Brown confirmed on Twitter his face is in for Tampa.

Also Bartowski can be moved to Calgary from the UFA listing.

              Cheers

I don't understand how every Canuck isn't on that list. They're literally in the same city, how hard is it?

I really hope guys like Pronger and Datsyuk aren't on the main roster. I really wish EA would figure out a way to make guys ineligible to play. It's bad enough that Dats is probably still a low 90's player, but it's even worse to discover that fact after you're halfway through a season and you can't edit it.

Thanks! Added Bartkowski to Calgary and Vilardi to LA. I didn't add JT Brown, I'm confident that's a generic head and a fan was just pointing out that he's in the game.

                            Hey guys

I'm trying to find a site with the the thumbnails for all NHL logos. Anyone got something? Everything I find only has the logos in massive formats.

Also, anyone know how to rename a thread? I gave the thread a different looking name from that of last year. Strictly for consistency purposes, not the end of the world.
