    Punch-Out!! Wii Review

There is no denying the significance of the Punch-Out franchise in video game history. First released on the NES in 1987, the original Punch-Out blew gamers away with its colorful cast of characters, addictive gameplay and challenging pattern recognition.

Sadly, since the release of Super Punch-Out in 1994, Little Mac and the entire Punch-Out gang have been missing in action. Some thought Mac had retired from the sport for good, while others held out hope that they would once again see the scrappy pugilist rise to the top. In October of 2008, Punch-Out fans everywhere let out a collective sigh of relief when it was announced that a Wii version of the series would be releasing in 2009.

It has been 15 long years since anyone has had the opportunity to strap the gloves on and step into the ring as Little Mac, and Iโ€™m happy to report that Punch-Out Wii was well worth the wait.

Nice! I have watch lots of videos and it makes me want to buy a wii just for this game. No online is a bummer though, but the classic gameplay and characters makes it worth playing alone...

Really nice review. You made some nice points. The only thing I'm not too hot on is the way the Career mode just ends. Other than that it looks great.

Great review, I am really feeling the nostalgia here. I put a lot of playing time into this one back in the day. Will definitely have to pick it up, too bad there arenโ€™t more characters. I am sure the fun factor is there though, Nintendo still knows how to do that right!

Just ordered it from Amazon for $39.99. My son and I are pretty stoked.

Awesome game...I still own it. My only real complaint with it is there aren't enough fighters. No excuse not to have the Super NES roster in as well.

i know i'm late but great review....will probably be picking it up used sometime in the near future. one thought does boggle my mind though. why was the rocky franchise never brought over to the wii? it would have been AWESOME. imagine fighting as rocky going against all of the famous rocky villains with drago being the final boss. wii boxing is nice, punch-out even better, but rocky would have been pretty incredible.

                  Nice grave-digging.

You know what game I feel like never got its just due? The original arcade "Punch-Out!", with the green-grid protagonist and (for the time) awesomely large/bold sprite opponents and crap-tastic "voice" feature. I can still hear the game calling out to my 8-year-old self: "Body Blow! Body Blow!"

I think that remains my favorite "boxing" game of all time. No kidding.

I've always wondered that myself. It's the best version of "Punch-Out!!" in my opinion, nowithstanding the NES version branded with Iron Mike (and only because of that).
