    Grand Badges or ScoreStreaks

Some may disagree, but grand badges just didn't make sense in my opinion. Just reminds me of Call Of Duty with the scorestreaks. You gain super skill ability, sometimes for doing things outside of your skill strength. Just seems super arcady and I hope it doesn't make it into NBA2K18

It's even worse in MyCareer. I can't get into the game when my player is the only one on the court with a glowing red icon underneath him. It makes me feel like I'm some kind of superhero waiting for my abilities to be fully charged.

I had to jump into MyLeague and create my own player.

That's how it seems, like you are a superhero or super player

At the end of the day it's a video game. I saw gamechanger/influencer YT guys playing as team mascots in the park. I didn't even know that was a thing. They were dressed up like a bird running around the park and some had jetpacks on.

I'd prefer things remain a bit real too but I don't know if that's what the masses want lol.

Those are just cosmetics though. It doesn't impact gameplay.

Grand badges are silly. IMO they should have stopped at gold badge tier. HOF badge was still too OP.

Ok, it's a game the is supposed to reflect the real-life NBA. The Park is the only part that doesn't. When I play a competitive game, there should be powerups like its COD. You wouldn't say the same about MLB or FIFA.

Have you played it? I'm a sharpshooter, when my grand activates, I almost cant miss from all ranges. If you're a playmaker, you break anyone's ankles regardless of the defense they are playing. How is that cosmetic?

I'm not disagreeing with you at all. I'm in the minority that wants games to truly reflect the real life sports. I don't think many people actually want that. This is why I have stayed away from online modes.

The real life NBA doesn't have any OS'er (that I know of) on the roster either. So the moment people on here create a character and input them in the game it no longer reflects the NBA as well.

I'd get rid of all fictional characters and have no badges if it were up to me. That probably wouldn't sell quite as well...

The grand badges are meant to reflect when people get "In the Zone". I mean Historically, there have been times when players who were great at one particular skill set showcased an incredible focus and went beyond the norm to put on out of body experiences.

                  Example:

Iverson who was a known lane defender goes off for 10 steals in the playoffs.
Even with a high steal rating, how can you replicate that in game without having a grand badge activate?

Know we all know Stephen Curry is the greatest shooter in NBA History, but how do you replicate Stephen going full American Sniper Mode by breaking the NBA Record for 3 pointers in a game, or him hitting these ridiculously deep three pointers without having hall of fame badges or Grand Badges in the game?

LeBron James LITERALLY has a 20 minute video of him doing what he does better than anybody in the history of basketball. The Chase Down Block.
Without a HOF Badge, how would shot blocking attributes alone replicate what the Only the KING can do best?

Look at the post I was replying to. I am talking about mascots and jetpacks. Sorry if that was not clear.

Also, in reply to Breakstarter: yes, those guys can do things no other human can. But they also don't do it every single game, like you can in 2k.

And if someone gets 10 steals, I would say that's a combination of skilled thievery and absolutely atrocious care of the ball from the offense.

I've seen 2k players do all the crazy things those other players you listed...simply with gold badges. The feats real players can pull are spectacular, but are still uncommon to rare, even for those guys. Jordan wasn't doing acrobatic non sense every other possession. Steph doesn't go down the court and launch from deep range as often as 2k players do, because the HOF badge is what turns it from "he can do this" to "he will do this all game". And it's ridiculously easy to get grand badges lit.

And in last year's game, everybody was a chase down artist and pickpocket.

Tl;Dr---badges should merely enable you to be able to be highly skilled at whatever when the opportunity properly presents itself. Not EVERY possession. The only one I'd say should get those capabilities as frequently is that of a glass cleaner.

I hear you Ph33....but lets be honest, theres a difference between NBA players and 2K players. 2k Players will abuse the heck out of something if you give them a chance to.

I'm Sorry...but if this pops up on your screen, theres no person on god's green earth who isn't going to test the limits to how far they can shoot with their myplayer and how consistent they are from deep.

Well, if my badge gets lit, of course I'm taking advantage. I just don't think it should be there is all I feel.

Badges are a necessity to further differentiate a player's unique skill from another. IMO HOF/Grand made it over kill last year. It was just gross watching people design a game plan around brick walls and deep range 3s....every.single.possession. Awesome players should be a pain in the rear to stop, but like I said, it shouldn't be THAT kind of painful. That's where I felt like stick skills and actual basketball IQ stopped mattering. We were forced to play something I do not feel resembles professional basketball in any way.

Totally agree with you. Instead of just heating up you now get this badge that makes you better at everything outside of your skill set lol. It is arcadey.

But 2K is played by A LOT of kids. Especially my park so they gonna cater to those kids. Before park was just a mode where you could run against other players. Now you got dances, jetpacks, tigers, mascots, skateboards, everything that doesn't have to do with basketball is taking over the core of the my park experience which is actually going and playing against other players.

It's super arcadey but it can be fun at times, I just wish they would take out all that extra fluff for the park.
