Ok so bear with me here, I want to make sure I got this right:

I'm the Browns playing against the Steelers.

1. 2nd PSN profile and 2nd controller - check.

2. Downloaded the playbooks on the 2nd profile account.

3. Started my franchise on my MAIN account and set Instant Starter to OFF.

4. Created a new character while on my MAIN account and made him an ACTIVE player. I picked the 3rd string QB (Landry Jones) for the Steelers.

5. Switched BACK to my MAIN account and started the game.

When I went to start the game, the other controller was already on the opposing team, and I was able to select it with my 2nd controller and switch it to the 3-4 Blitz defense which is what they use.

Did I mess something up here? I didn't have to move the controller over. I'm in the game now and I'm playing against the Steelers but I don't know if I did this right.
