I think they just meant you could earn it anywhere, not that you to grind in park.

But that doesn't make any sense. The game starts from the 2017-18 season. A new game 2K19 will be released next year for the 2018-19 season, so why would you get immortalized in 2K19 for the 2017-18 season o_0?

They had that for 2K17, if you hit legend they were gonna do something like that for 2K18

In 2K18 all the guys who hit Legend in 17, were put on a Wall Of Fame. Something similar will happen for the 99s

Maybe it has to do with the "wall of Fame" list they showed when entering the playground area. My other guess would be maybe there will be statues placed around the neighborhood for the immortalized players, like the statue shown in the trailer.
