3rd/4th and short
Playing on the PS4 (both online and offline), I've noticed that running on 3rd or 4th and short is virtually impossible because it's like the running back hits an imaginary forcefield and is knocked back. Has anyone else experienced this?

Re: 3rd/4th and short
I have this problem as well. I'm playing on All-Pro personally, default sliders. It seems like if I ever line up under center (Singleback or I-Form) for a 3rd/4th and 1/inches, my OL misses key blocks and I never make it back to the LOS. I understand that I'm not going to convert them all, which is fine. But I never get any. And playing as the Titans, who have a pretty stout OL, I should be winning those battles at the LOS. Instead, I'm always stopped behind the LOS. As it stands, I either have to run from the shotgun, which doesn't fair much better, or do a PA pass and risk getting sacked before I can get the ball out.
It's especially aggravating when I line up in I-Form tight on 3rd and inches and I never get any push from my OL. I don't care that the CPU knows I'm running the ball, I should be winning those battles on occasion.NCAA: TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS

Re: 3rd/4th and short
I have seen it alot, especially when i already have the lead. I will head to the hole and magically the defender will shed a block, take two steps and lay a stop dead hit on my rb before he can take a step. This was a problem last year as well. The running game in the fourth with a lead is at least doable this year. Last year you had to use the short passing game to run out the clock.Comment

Re: 3rd/4th and short
Try this on short yardage plays, its works for me 75% of the time. Call a pass play, any set or formation. When you get to the line the defense will be expecting a pass, a little football skill in seeing where to run to the weak side is all you need to do, then call an audible to run. Not perfect but nothing in Madden is any more.Comment
