I dont know if im releasing floaters too early or too late i cant really practice it without meter

That would help seperate average players from great.
There is practice mode in the final game. You will be alright

Read the gameplay blog Mike Wang did. I dont think the meter is necessary.

I think everybody read it and i know the logic behind layup but still i would like to have that option.

It should be off by default but if somebody want to see meter he shoud be able to.
            2k18 fixes

Bigs can cover to much ground on defense(they are too fast)

Late contest on laups matter too much.

            Random blocks doing pumpfakes.

Leaning shots for guys who have catch and shoot badge should be removed.

I don't understand people saying keep it out especially if it's optional. It's still there but you just can't see the meter and Mike said he changed the timing on layups.

I personally would like to see if I am releasing it correctly especially online when timing seems to change.

                Re: Layup meter - pool

The meter is gone for alot of shots, including hook shots in the post, does this mean their percentage based? and not timed at all?

just found this quote from mike wang apparently "Layup timing is still in the game as a bonus to your shot chance. The ideal release time is closer to when the ball leaves the hand as opposed to takeoff like last year. Just no meter."

so im guessing this includes all shots that dont show a timing meter?

                  Layup meter - pool

Shots that don't show the meter, with the exception of dunks and putbacks, get a small boost if you release the shot at the right time. Timing on layups was adjusted so that it's closer to the actual release of the ball. If you pay attention to the controller rumble, you'll get an idea for when you should be releasing layups and hooks. This is more of an experienced gamer tip. I don't want to show the meter because it overwhelms casuals.

If you completely ignore timing on layups and hooks, you won't be penalized at all. You'll get the same percentage as you would if you set it to real player %

                    Re: Layup meter - pool

I remember last year there was a poll and so many people wanted to have the layup meter removed now that it is removed we get a poll to bring it back. Maybe they can give people an option to turn it on or off which would be the best way to go

As a teaching tool it didn't help me.

I'd get full meters and yet the feedback is red... it didn't matter what build or badges: the synchronizing between the timing and the feedback is too off to be helpful.

There's no shot meter in real life, if there was, everybody would've been a ball player. It's called practice & perfection. I don't think its necessary.

I don't know how timing a layup makes you a great player. I got the timing down right last year didn't like how lesser players could get that boost(green release) if I perfected the timing of a layup or floater.
