I resolved this by just going into the games visual options and notching up the brightness and contrast from default to one higher (not the highest) and I'm happy with it now. Glad I don't need to do any other tv tweaks just for this game.
Sorry but you really shouldn't adjust in game settings like that. Those are intended for accessibility users. You're ultimately compromising the point of HDR entirely by doing that.

What you should do is head over to the KS8000 owners thread and see what other users are doing with their settings for an optimal image.

Otherwise you're not experiencing HDR to the fullest extent and are cheating yourself.

Make sure your firmware is up to date and that you set your settings as follows for the best image.

      HDR Game Mode
      Colour gamut WIDE
      Dynamic Contrast on HIGH
      PS4 Pro YUV420 with LIMITED

Low black level on your OLED

Sublime and no issues whatsoever , lovely bright vivid image with all skin tones and colours spot on.

xbox S does do HDR, some games better than others and it upscales all content to 4k including movies and games.

the fact that it can not "render" games above 1080p, but upscales, does limit the quality of HDR according to what I have read.

forza H3 HDR looks great and battlefield looks good too, GR Wildlands looks tiny bit better in hdr on S but Madden on S is minor upgrade, would not buy an S for HDR
          Spoiler
          .

but I can not wait to see Madden in true 4k with HDR

Madden is the first HDR game on the One S that has been problematic. FH3, Injustice 2, and BF1 all look phenomenal.

I think the One X is going to be a great improvement, though. Can't wait!

Loving the PS4 Pro 4k HDR Madden, my question is, as Ive already preordered the XB1X, what kind of difference/upgrade will there be beteween the X and Pro?

Likely none as to maintain parity between the releases as it's not an exclusive.

Really as of now the PRO performs better when it comes to HDR as is. Since the S is struggling there's no reason to believe the X won't have the same HDR issues as most believe it's due to Microsoft's color gamut the console uses.

Honestly, I think no really knows for sure. If the x1x plays in true 4k I will say that might be better. I have it preordered as well and I can't wait to see what that beast can do. For what it's worth Rex Dickson (Creative Dir.)at E3 this yr said that Madden 18 on the X1X will melt your face off. I've been following this team pretty closely and I've need heard them say anything like that before

It does hdr, and has a UHD disc player, the ps4 doesn't even have that. Not a fan boy of Xbox, just what I've seen.

I agree with captainfear that the phone camera does add something.

Do you think you could post the HDR picture settings you run with on the 850c? I want to give them a try

nah . xbox X will blow up HDR in 4k, it's more that than anything MS related.

4k just has more pixels to display the color detail and so it's more vibrant on Pro . People have seen it running it and noticed the difference between it and S or standard PS4 n 1080p upscaled

only a little over 7 weeks to go!

I get what you're saying, but as far as this game goes, it needs just enough from those little tweaks to deliver a good experience to my eye and look just a bit more like a broadcast.

I'm going for what looks good for this game rather than perfect realism because a) I don't want to alter more than the back light for one game and b) NFL broadcasts do look more "punched up" than actually being there.

I do have my TV well tuned for movies on another input so I do appreciate accuracy where it matters. Madden in hdr isn't accurate to me compared to the rest of my HDR games so I'm adjusting for that in a way I like with zero fuss.

Could I make it better? Of course. But then I'd have to adjust back for anything else other than Madden and I don't care to do that.
