Paint Defense is Terrible (Pro-Am)

My experience playing pro am is that its impossible to protect the rim with a non defender. am a pure athletic and I can't stop anyone and no one can stop me. Every game i finish with 30+ and my opponent almost the same. My ppg in pro am is 28points and that includes games where random guards chuck all game.

2 things that happen the most:

1. My player get shifted unexplainably and opponent gets an easy dunk/layup.
2. My player get a perfect contest and the opponent still makes the layup no problem.

Same thing on other side, I'm about to get hall of fame posterizer because no one can stop me by the rim (except when i fake someout int he air and he magically strips me when in the air wtf 2k?).

I understand that im not supposed to be ben wallace. But can we we a little realistic and not have these 175 pound guards come in for layups like its practice? its impossible to get a block or even hold your ground.

I got an idea, how about they separate this forum in 2 sections, offline and online. It is obvious that there is a divide here.

I'm in the park playing stellar Defense with a 6'8 SF, in the paint as well as on the perimeter. Your contests have to be very strategic this year. No more steal spamming or multiple jumps on defense. You make a wrong move and you're toast. "Be there" more often than not, and good results will follow. A good inside scorer will punish you if you're not a defensive build, or have high IQ in how you contest. When i get matched up with a big who knows what they are doing, my work is cut out for me and I love it. 90 percent of good defense in this game is good positioning and not necessarily a block or steal.

Be ready to work for each stop, but boy are they rewarding when they come. I had a block yesterday in a big moment that had to be perfectly timed or i would have sailed out of position and given up the easy lay in. When I got it I came out of my seat, probably the best moment in my 2k history.

Making a plea here so this defense stays, right now there seems to be a very good offense/ defense balance for me and the guys i've spoken to. Hoping this doesnt get patched "into bolivian".

These threads have me so worried that we're gonna have a totally different game in a month. Apparently on ball defense, paint defense, and shooting are all horrible.

And ballhandling , dunking , and layups are broken I guess lol

I'm enjoying the gameplay a lot . I'm not even maxed and I do all those things fine.

@ OP what build are you using ? What's your strength ? Do you have bruiser ? Are you jumping or using hands up ? Defensive stopper , and what tier ? Rim Protector?

I think they wanted it to be that way so that not everyone could play good defense without a defensive archetype like last year

made a pure athletic finisher 7'3 300 pound C and very were were able to contain me in the paint. 99 standing layup and standing and contact dunks. almost got hof posterizer because i catch bodies every quarter.

Almost was able to hit some corner 3 pointers too.

The downside? The guy may be 300 pounds on offense but he is a little bittttc on defense. Can't stop anyone in the paint. Feel like a traffic cone smh. My strength is around 70 and i have bronze rim protector and defensive stopper.

Quoting you from another thread . Your strength is low for a big. What is your shot contest rating ? Also what are some of the builds troubling you ? You're also too big for effective contest . I had an athletic finisher last year and his strength was a problem at times against glass cleaners and post scorers. My LDD , who was a SF , was better at guarding bigs.

Also look at the defense / slasher and slasher / defense builds they are nice. I know it sucks to start over though
