Here's the sliders I'm running with. I'm going for realistic stats and attempting to get results in line with NBA league averages.
I'll post what I've changed from default and my reasoning and results. If I don't list something it's because it stays at default 50. I have about 20 games under my belt so I have a pretty good idea what does what. The biggest issue I'm having is that the game is very skewed towards hot and cold runs so it's hard to lock down sliders unless you test them extensively. If your hot you will make a lot more shots. You will block more shots. You will get more rebounds etc. Opposite when your cold obviously.
Anyways here's what I'm using. Values same for User and CPU unless you see a /
I play All star with 12 minute accelerated clock
Shooting ratings plus skill
Free throws ratings only
Game speed 70
Inside shot 30
I like it here or else the and 1s get out of control.
Mid range 50/100
3 point shooting CPU 55
I need to test more but the CPU at 100 isn't making shots more but it seems to be giving the AI more confidence to open up the mid range game.
Driving layup 20
Dunk frequency 35
I'm getting between 10 and 15 foul shots per game per team. League average was about 22 so with accelerated clock that's perfect.
Reach in foul 50/83
Jump shot foul 83
Post shot foul 83
Layup foul 83
Dunk foul 83
Offensive in air collision 60
Offensive on ground collision 60
Defensive in air collision 60
Defensive on ground collision 60
Steal success 65
This slider affects stolen passes as well as on ball steals. Even with it at 65 I'm not seeing enough turnovers. League average is about 11 per game and I often only have 4 or 5 which even with accelerated clock is too low.
Shot off dribble impact 60/100
This slider really helps with step back shots. The higher the number the bigger the green release is. 60 feels about right to me not making it too easy. CPU at 100 seems to give the CPU more confidence to take more pull ups and it's not messing up shooting percentages. They definetly aren't sinking everything even though it's 100.
Shot contest impact 20/50
This one changes the CPU tendency for shooting. At zero the CPU will come down and fire 3 after 3. 20 gives a nice balance.
Shot blocking 40
This one is more of a preference but it ties in with how my sliders play. I generally don't try and do layups if a big man is camped under the rim so that's why I say it's a preference but having nerfed the ability to drive to the hoop my blocks are down regardless. League average was between 4 and 5 a game and I'm around 3 so again with accelerated clock that's about right. I will say that when I get frustrated and turbo spam the paint that number does rise significantly.
Jostle vs blow by 100
To me, and for what I'm looking for in a basketball game this slider is the most important. While I do agree blowing by your man and dunking all over the place is fun it's not very realistic. This makes it much harder to get by. Good slashers can still do it but it takes work. It also forces the CPU to take more mid range shots and pull ups .
That's about it. Still ever working things out but I like what I have so far.
