1970-71 NBA Roster (2K18 PS4)

Hey all,

I'm currently working on a 1970-71 roster for PS4, my most ambitious roster yet. I'm not sure if I will be able to complete it within a month (that's very unlikely) because I'm in a very tough high school and my workload is huge.

I plan on creating the faces for the majority, if not all, of the players that are not currently in the game. I may or may not work on rebrands if I find the time.

If anyone wants to help out, I have attached a Google sheet with the roster plan. It includes the actual roster list, All-Star Game rosters, how many "John Brown"'s needed to make complete teams, etc. That is also a WIP. Further info for players can be found on Basketball-Reference, including spelling of names, stats, etc.

(Sidenote: The way I determined the players on the rosters were (a) if they were already in-game, or (b) they played at least in the ballpark of 50 games. Starters were determined by MPG.)

I may or may not play this roster, but I have a suggestion for the teams that weren't around back then. How about adding ABA teams as replacements for teams like the Raptors, Grizzlies, Magic, etc.?

If I can find the stats necessary, I'll consider it. Not as much info on ABA players as NBA players from what I've seen.

I know you said you probably won't do team designs, but if someone were to do team designs and remove the 3pt lines that would be incredible!

Philadelphia 76ers are complete. You can find them in the '76-'77 76ers slot.

I made a comment a couple years ago, that they should show the ABA some love, and put the ABA teams in the game, and be great if they let make a MYLeague with them. ABA not only had many great players which some of them sadly get overlooked when talking baout some of the greatest players ever, but they also had a impact on why the NBA is where its at today. Who knows if it wasnt for the ABA, when or if we would have the 3pt line in the game, likley we would have it implemented at some point, but it was the ABA who introduced the world to the 3pt shot.

Absolutely true. For the sake of realism, I would probably put them in a separate roster if I decided to do ABA, mainly because the balance would be unfair. Because the three-point shot wasn't in the NBA in the 70s, I put all the three-point tendencies for all the NBA players to 0. Since the ABA had the three-point line, they would have a three-point tendency, leading to higher scoring for those teams.

I wish they would give us a way to turn the 3pt off, and give us the rules of previous era's to use for the classic teams. The 1 thing I loved about NBA2k12 and really the only thing I liked about it, was how they shaded thing to make it look like a black and white TV. Some of the rules of those times they also had in the game too if I remember correctly. I dont know why they dont give us the option to turn off the 3 sec in the lane rules, and the 3pt shot, that I would atleast thing would be easy to do, not adding in all the rule changes like free throws rules might be tougher to code in for the previous era's rules.
