Am i the only one that likes that there's no layup meter?

Seems like lots of youtubers are pissed about there being no layup meters, saying that people are missing layups too much etc.
Personally i way prefer there being no layup meter. It's better going by feel. And the new release point feels more intuitive to me too.

I'm not missing any more layups than last year. I think people are just too used to last year's release timing, and probably forcing bad shots too.
Throw in the fact that MyCareer players are forced to start the game with trash players and that probably contributes to the missed layups too.

What's your stance on no layup meters?

I didn’t pay any attention to it last year. Don’t miss at all.

If they are using a timing window, there should at least be an option to see a meter so you can figure out why you’re missing layups. The meter was basically the only tool available to provide feedback when you miss a layup.

With the way driving to the basket is handled this year (which I absolutely love) I feel like they struck a great balance with the layup %'s this year...although this is coming from a player that only uses Real Player %, I like player ratings to matter more since I only play offline vs. Cpu.

You guys remember the layup controls from 2k11 where once you was up in the air for a layup you could move the analog around and do one of those Jordan esque clutch/pump layups? I wonder why they ever took that out of the 2k

The timing really isn't that difficult....

not missing it at all. I actually convert a lot of my layups. Once i realized it's timing based on situation. I rarely miss wide open ones and I make over 50% of my contested ones. Now I am talking just my career. You definitely have to learn your players' animations more than ever this year. It's why I haven't started myleague. I dont have that time yet.

Love the new lay-up system, I've missed my fair share of easy lay-ups but I recognize that its was my fault because I didn't time it correctly.

With all the complaining I would say enjoy it while you can...I doubt lay-ups are gonna stay the way they currently are.

I hate any kind of shot meter btw, I turn all that stuff off.

I have no issue, especially after watching the video Da Czar posted about layups. I wasn't a fan of the layup meter last year because it wasn't very accurate. I liked it in theory but in execution the release point seemed to have nothing to do with the animation, which to me kills the point of the meter.

I thought i was the only one that thought that. It never seemed to match up, so i started ignoring it.

Personally, I HATE the fact that there is NO VISUAL METER or INDICATOR for layups.

When I attack the rim in MyCareer... oftentimes I get BUMPED while driving, or I make CONTACT with the defender (if the CPU fouls me) while in mid-air... so I am COMPLETELY UNABLE to DISTINGUISH BETWEEN the rumble of the joystick that happens 'because of contact'... or the rumble of the joystick that happens because of a proper 'release point'.

As a result, this year I make ALOT fewer "And+1" layups than I did last year... and I MISS ALOT more easy layups than ever before.

IIRC, there was nothing wrong with the way layups worked in 2K11.

But every year 2K revamps all the 'shooting mechanics' and 'controller layouts' for absolutely no reason.

I wish they would use ONE SINGLE layout for Controls & Meters and call it a day. Or give the gamer 'the option' to select a specific YEAR... and play with those controls that suit you best. Problem solved.

Next year, this 'rumble release point' for layups will be gone.... and they will replace it with something else.... or 2K will revert back to an older method for layups.

                      Wait for it.

I turn off the jump shot meter, so I'm indifferent as to whether there is a layup meter.

I never knew there was a meter for lay-ups. These people should be ashamed of themselves wanting help from everything.
