Re: Coach Geezy in the Big Easy: Our City, Our Team | Part II - The Golden Age of Tul

Disappointing to see the Wave continuing to struggle like this.. poor play all the way around. It's really unfortunate to see the 10-win season streak end as well, but certainly 12 in a row is certainly a feat within itself. As I recall, a wise Canadian man once said that all good things must come to an end.

Truthfully I think you surprise some folks in 2025. Maybe not a Natty but after the recent disappointing seasons Tulane would be a dangerous dark horse candidate to fly in under the radar and take a swipe an at-large BCS bid or something. New seasons always bring forth new surprises.. maybe talent wise you aren't as good as others but teams win championships.

      -----------

Additionally, as someone fascinated by statistics/trends and when they change, I wanted to call this to everyone's attention before it happens... surely within the next day or two.

Geezy, you and the Tulane thread are about to surpass Mudcat/M2H's long-standing record for most thread views in this here football section, in addition to the record of thread posts you already own. For that, I must commend you and say congratulations.

You already know how much we enjoy following along just by the sheer response you receive after each post, but please keep up the tremendous work you're doing with the one and only Coach Geezy and the Green Wave. The community wouldn't be the same without it. Congratulations once again.

Bonner looked like peak-level Drew Stanton in that comeback. Brings back actual IRL memories for me in that era of MSU football.

Tough loss, though. Tough, tough year. Injuries, poor results, regression, breakout stars and then more injuries. Interesting off season coming up, for sure.

Also, to echo what Guru said: congrats on that impending views total. You deserve it man! Legendary dynasty.

You're going to bounce back for sure. Hell, the low expectations will have everyone on their heels next year. There are worse slumps than one 9-win season in thirteen years. I have every faith in the ensuing rebuild.

Can't wait to see the next update. Interested to see what changes Coach G has in mind.

Thanks for the encouraging words on next season. I feel the same way you do about this team. Hopefully we don't lose too many key pieces to the NFL (RB Tony Tompkins, DB Jonathan Smith, and MLB Sean Williams in particular), because I think we can be very dangerous in 2025. I know my self-created video game counterpart doesn't like the injury excuse, but you can't help but put a lot of blame on that.

Also, thank you for pointing out the views record; I had no idea I was anywhere near it. I feel very honored.

This thing has certainly morphed into something bigger than I ever imagined it would be back when I first revived this dynasty. As I stated back on the front page of this thread, I figured I'd play maybe 3 to 4 seasons over the course of a calendar year and be done with it. But here we are, working on calendar year 3, headed into the 7th season of this Part II venture with no real end in sight.

There's been a mix of several elements that have kept this thing fresh for me - my one game per week (sometimes two) pace, the El Gato capture card, my gameplay settings and recruiting struggles not allowing me to win every single game I play and creating plenty of adversity each year, adding the custom sounds, etc. But the #1 thing, personally for me, is having such a great audience that provides great feedback virtually after every single update. You guys really make this thing feel like a press conference after every game, and responding to your posts is really something I take a lot of enjoyment in doing.

I really, really appreciate every one of you and I am glad you have all stuck with me through this journey. As a family guy that doesn't get a lot of down time, this has truly become one of if not my favorite hobby, and this college football video game coaching universe we've all individually created for ourselves certainly passes the time well. Sometimes I go back and read random games in this thread and I'm like "Wow, that was really a year and a half ago?"

Nice mention on Stanton. I hadn't even made that correlation, especially with the #5. He really gutted us in the fourth quarter. I hated the result obviously, but it was a fun game overall.

I think the entire season was derailed by Bryce Allen's injury. Man has he had a tough, disappointing go at Tulane. I also felt awful for my two top WRs, seniors Brandon McIntyre and Jason Mason. Their careers basically ended with a whimper. It is fun from a story-telling standpoint to have some non-happy endings, but it sure was sad to see this Bryce Allen era of Tulane football come to such a disappointing end, not just with this bowl loss, but with this underachieving season as a whole.

Thanks as always for the compliments on the thread. This Tulane dynasty never left my brain back when it first ended years ago; I am just glad I was able to find that memory card back in July of 2015 so that this could all be possible.

Heh. I was cruising, up 14-0, thinking we were headed towards an easy going blowout of a mediocre opponent, then the video game gods came out of nowhere like...

Thanks brother...McBride Mania is set to hit the streets of New Orleans next year! He finished this past season with a flurry and that, along with the 60 yard touchdown run in the bowl game, has me pretty pumped about next season. I think we're going to have a fun, entertaining squad in 2025.

I feel the same way nofx...the expectation pressure being loosened could be a good thing for us. I also went back and looked, and we won our first national title with a team whose overall talent level was basically on par with the one we're projected to have next season, so it isn't impossible for us to catch fire. While we've lost with more talent, we've certainly won with less.

I'd also like to point out that, now heading into year 7 of Part II, it has now officially taken me just as long to win a national title in this revival thread as it took for me to win one in the original thread with a far less talented default roster in the beginning. Crazy.

I haven't decided yet what changes are in store for us this off-season; I plan to start brain-storming on that this week. I enjoy the off-season just as much if not more than the season itself, so I am really looking forward to rebuilding this squad and hopefully we're lucky enough to find a gem or two in the off-season signing period.

Thanks again everyone for your fantastic feedback and for you helping to make the dynasty views records possible. This Tulane dynasty is not going away any time soon, so here's to the next 150,000 views!

2024 NCAA FOOTBALL BOWL GAME REVIEW

Heisman Trophy winning QB Brad Hill accounted for 5 touchdowns and helped guide Alabama to its first national title since 2012.

Alabama QB Brad Hill goes 23 of 33 for 287 yards and 4 touchdown passes plus 43 rushing yards and a touchdown run as Crimson Tide ousts USC 41-34 in a heart-pounding BCS National Championship Game at Miami | In a game that saw four lead changes and was tied 20-20 at end of half and 27-27 at end of third quarter, RB Cameron Miller's two fourth quarter touchdown runs helps Bama pull away and finally get back to the top of college football mountain | In closest vote in years, undefeated Texas falls just 15 AP Poll votes shy of a split national title | NCAA Mark Emmert echoes his same sentiment following BCS Selection Show: Top teams need to stop scheduling cupcakes and start playing each other in regular season to avoid these controversies because a playoff is never going to happen

Appreciate it man. I am glad anytime I hear I have inspired others.

It's been a very long time since I've registered for the site (15 years), so I am not quite sure what type of protocol they have in place these days for new members.

Did you not get an email explaining the restriction term?

Is it wrong to kind of feel glad that Deuce got a ring?

9-4 I know not the season we were looking for but there were tons of injuries that no one saw coming. Just like you I'm looking forward to next season to see how the Green Wave bounce back. I know Coach Geezy will be putting in some hard work with the team during the offseason
