    Embiid, Chandler sign new contracts

While there hasn't much noise happening in the NBA, two quite surprising deals were made just the end of this month, when two crucial players to their respective teams, signed off on new deals.

Joel Embiid has agreed on a new 3yr/$74.44M deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, that will keep on their books until the 20-21 season. Currently averaging 17.4 PPG to go along with 8.7 RPG, the center was questioned about his health, having only played 31 games in three seasons. However, he has started all the games for the Sixers this season (22) and doesn't look like stopping anytime soon. He himself has said that he is blessed to prove his doubters wrong and get the Sixers to the playoffs this season. "There have been bigs in the history who have struggled with injuries, but I am happy that the coaching staff and the fans really trust the process. I will give it my all so we make the playoffs."

Meanwhile, on the other side of things, the Denver Nuggets player, Wilson Chandler, has signed a new 2yr/$22.74M deal. While his numbers have dropped from last season (12.6 PPG, 7.1 RPG), he is a crucial part of the system, as he is shooting his career high currently in 3PT% and FG%.

The season is still in baby steps, but with a number of players in their last year of their contract, expect more movements by front offices.

The King has a time of his life
      December 6, 2017

While the Kings were really happy that Randolph had returned, "The King" was going to kill all of their happiness.

For Sacramento, their veterans stepped up to the plate. Z-Bo returned and looked good, scoring 25 points along with 9 rebounds. George Hill also got easy assists from the pick-and-roll and the post play of Randolph, which gave him room to be a scorer. However, LeBron James had his say of the game, getting on an absolute tear, and finishing with his second-highest scoring game ever - 57 points.

Coach Tyronn Lue was speechless after the game. "I mean, I've seen scorers, I've played with Kobe, but, that was quite something right there. It just shows how much of an influence he [James] has on the court."

Sacramento will go on to face the Pelicans in their next game, while the Cavaliers go up against the Pacers.

Fourth quarter breakdown gives Raps the W
        December 10, 2017

A closely contested game came down to the final three minutes of the game, as Toronto turned it up a notch.

Sacramento looked great, cutting inside and making the Raptors commit two fouls. Randolph was unstoppable, as he dominated the glass, which allowed him to get easy looks. Another big player, who kept the Kings on Toronto's heels, was Fox coming off the bench and running the second unit.

Yet, it wasn't enough for the shooters of the Raptors, as they turned it on very late. Lowry, Miles, and Ibaka had some easy looks from deep, making a two-point gap into a 12-point gap. DeRozan was also solid from mid-range, troubling the defense consistently.

Sacramento will play their next game against the Suns, while Toronto will face the Charlotte.

Kings give it to Phila early
          December 19, 2017

The domination on the boards was the key for the early big lead.

Even at the end of the first quarter, the boards looked 2-to-12 in the favor of Sacramento. And with them pushing the tempo constantly, the young squad of the Sixers really struggled. Hill and Randolph were key leaders, giving Phila real trouble. And with Buddy Hield popping shots from the field, it really was over before it even started.

Coach Brett Brown was quite surprised on how that game played out. "I mean, it just shows how serious the NBA is. Even one of the weaker teams in the West, and they gave it to us. They didn't give us a chance at all."

The Kings will host the Nets in the next game, while the Sixers go on to face Toronto.

You play one game a week and sim the rest right?
            Which slider do you use?

A bit of a change-up, sadly. I was cleaning my computer and managed to delete all the pictures and write-ups that I had. I was pretty far ahead already (in April), but luckily, I have the save files still from the start of January - meaning you will miss two games (vs Suns and vs Nuggets, both which were wins).

I will make the next post a December Recap and then roll into January!

                  1. Player of the month

East - "The Greek Freak" Giannis Antetokounmpo has earned the prize being the best player of the month. While Milwaukee has been holding on to their playoff spot, Giannis has been on fire, keeping other teams on their heels constantly. Some of his better games include a 30-16-12 night against the Pelicans, and 39 point game against Sacramento.

West - While you could pick a number of players from the Warriors roster to win the award this month, the honors go to Stephen Curry. The Point Guard from Davidson has been "el fuego", with every game being a double-double for him this month, and he hasn't scored less than 25 in a single game. Most notably - 38-10 against the Clippers, 29-11 against Miami and 28-10 against the Mavericks.

                  2. Rookie of the month

East - Last month, it was Simmons, who received the honors. This month, a different Sixer grabs it, as Markelle Fultz is the ROTM. The Sixers youngsters are still keeping on to their playoff spot, and Fultz has made some big plays to keep the process going. Six games over 20+ points, four double-double games and even a triple-double flirt (29-13-9 vs the Timberwolves).

West - The rookie in the West, isn't much of a rookie, as Milos Teodosic was given the award. While everybody knew the 30-year old Serbian is a passing phenom, he even contributed with scoring this month - including a 24 point game against OKC.

                  3. Injuries

Injuries are, sadly, a big part of this game. Let's take a look of some of the bigger injuries so far into this season.

Josh Hart - Dislocated Right Patella - 2-4 Months
                  Rondae Hollis-Jefferson - Broken Right Ankle - 1-2 Months
Danilo Gallinari - Torn Right Calf Muscle - 8-10 Weeks
Al Jefferson - Broken Left Leg - 6-8 Weeks
Anthony Davis - Torn Right Meniscus - 6-8 Weeks
Kevin Love - Torn Left Hamstring - 4-6 Weeks
Quincy Pondexter - Torn Right Hamstring - 4-6 Weeks
Tyson Chandler - Pulled Left Calf Muscle - 4-6 Weeks
Derrick Rose - Dislocated Right Elbow - 4-6 Weeks
Troy Daniels - Broken Right Thigh - 4-6 Weeks

Exactly so, Superstar feels pretty good currently - defenses are really punishing and if you go on a run, it is usually pretty rewarding. You don't go on runs just because you are better, but it actually feels like a momentum swing.

Favors, Wiggins pen new contracts; first trade news of the season!

Things have gotten a lot busier with the season progressing, with even some of the first trades appearing for teams.

Orlando Magic have agreed on a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Orlando has sent Shooting Guard Jonathon Simmons and rookie Wesley Iwundu in exchange for Alex Abrines and Nick Collison. The main reason for this trade was the impatience of Simmons, who was not happy playing as a sixth man in a struggling Magic team. With Andre Roberson being injured currently for the Thunder, it made sense for the FO of Oklahoma to make a move for the veteran shooting guard, who was crucial in the last year's playoff run for the Spurs.

Another trade saw players moving between conferences, as the Hornets decided to trade Marvin Williams in exchange for Omer Asik and Frank Jackson of the Pelicans. The situation was similar - Anthony Davis has been out for a while with his injury, and with the Pelicans still fighting for that playoff spot, they felt that it was necessary to make a move for a Power Forward.

As for signings, two big ones that took the headlines were from two teams looking to strengthen their roster for the long-run. Andrew Wiggins signed a new, 4 year, $107.10M deal. While the scoring numbers have dropped quite a bit for him (23.6 to 15.8), his other averages have gone up, and the Wolves do see him as a fit for the team.

The other guy is the third pick from the 2010 draft, as Derrick Favors has noted a new 3 year, $38.40M deal. This one got a bit of turmoil, as some fans believe that he isn't worthy of resigning, while at the same time, Favors has looked good, with a small increase in points and rebounds this season.

                        Recap of this month:

Dame-C.J. can't get it done against the Kings
                          February 9, 2018

Today, it was a whole team vs a back-court.

While Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum combined for 57 points, and gave the Kings somewhat of a headache, the rest of the team was nowhere to be found. As for Sacramento, the shooting guards were on point, as Hield and Bogdanovic were on fire from the field.

Another big difference maker was the play on the boards. The Kings had 3 players with 10+ rebounds (Randolph, Labissiere, Cauley-Stein), while the Trail Blazers only had one (Vonleh).

The Kings will face the Timberwolves in their next game, while Portland will go up against the Cavs.

A difference maker in some games can be a free-throw, a turnover here-and-there, but for this game, it was a one-man show.

No matter what the defense threw at him, Karl-Anthony Towns was completely unstoppable. The post play, the shooting touch and the rebound play - Sacramento really struggled.

As for the Kings, they really looked outplayed away from home. George Hill had a good shooting night, but rest of its team was already in "All-Star-Break" mode.

Sacramento will go on to face Mavericks, while Minnesota faces the Trail Blazers.

I just clocked - with my overwriting my files, I completely skipped the month of January! I completely apologize, but whoever wants to know how we did in January, I will post a screenshot of our results from that month in a sec.

                              My bad!
