I think it is because nobody has cap space.

But in all my sim leagues, you have top players signing 1 year deals for almost the NBA minimum. It's the biggest flaw in the game.

Contracts must be fixed. But for PG13, you must trade off Robertson for cap space if Melo opts in and if he doesn't, you must remove Melo's cap hold.

For Durant, change his player option to team option at the beginning of the season.

I'm starting up a Celtics myLeague, with 30 team control and Advanced Rotations. I am using Armor & Swords Gold Sliders on All-Star. I plan to play 2 out of every 5 games, playing about 33 games this season, at least one against every other team hopefully. This is the result of game 1.




Game 1 of the 2017 NBA Season between The Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Quicken Loans Arena. Kyrie Irving. LeBron James. A clash of two titans. After Kyrie's demand for a trade, he is looking to prove he can win without LeBron and evolve his game, for LeBron, it us business as usual. Through 1, Kyrie came out swinging, scoring 17 points on 4/5 shooting along with 4 assists while LeBron chipped in 10. After one Cleveland held a 35-32 advantage. Boston could not get out of their own way this game, allowing Cleveland to grab 14 offensive rebounds, and committing 16(!) turnovers. Through 3, the game was a 4-point swing in Cleveland's favor.

This is where LeBron went off.

LeBron woke up and scored 30 4th quarter points, and the Celtics could not keep up, with the final score reading 123-112 Cleveland. LeBron finished with 48 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists, along with 3 steals on an efficient 20/31 shooting. Derrick Rose turned back the clock, scoring 25 points as the teams starting PG while Isaiah Thomas is out. Kevin Love also pitched in 16 and 8 as the teams new starting Center.

Kyrie had an amazing first game with Boston despite the loss, going for 37/5/14 on 10-16 and 13/13 from the line. He was in complete command of the offense and proved he has the potential to be a "true" point guard. Along with Irving, Gordon Hayward also made his debut for the C's, chipping in 22 points, 7 boards and 3 assists. Despite the good offensive game, Hayward was on the receiving end for most of LeBron's 30 point outburst in the final frame, something he must improve on if Boston hopes to stand a chance against the Cavs in the play-offs. 3 other Celtics scored in double digits, with Number 3 overall pick Jayson Tatum going for 12 points, 5 boards and 2 blocks. C's fans cannot wait to see him develop.

Both the Celtics and Cavs shot very well tonight, shooting 49 and 52 percent, respectively. Both teams shot over 50% from 3, a deadly weapon for either team should they match up with the Warriors in the Finals.

The Celtics, coming off the loss in the season opener, head home for the home opener against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks tomorrow night, while Cleveland gets a few days off before heading to Milwaukee to face those same Bucks Friday night.

So, with patch four out today and MyLeague/GM still unplayable due to roster/contract issues, and opening night of the NBA season four days away, does anyone have a guess when these modes might be playable?

Haven't played one yet except to mess around a bit, but from what I gather, among what I'm sure are many other issues:

- Bird rights are messed up
- Centers are getting billion dollar contracts (yes, billions with a B)
- Star players are demanding max money even when nobody has cap space, staying unsigned until the very end, and then taking near vet. minimum 1 year deals.
- Probably not a fixable issue but seems like KD leaves the Warriors almost every time and, if you go back a few pages in this thread, Paul George goes back to Indiana after one year in OKC! I guess Indianapolis is kind of like LA, right guys?

I play ML for the realism obviously, and I'd rather just not play than sink tons and tons of hours into a broken, unrealistic mode.

But these are all problems you can fix: With 30 team control!

What I'm doing every year(because contracts are a problem for as long as I can remember) is that I raise the cap to the maximum possible from the start and turn off the hard cap. You need discipline because in theory you could sign basically everyone, but it seems to be the only way around.

Another thing that caught my eye recently is that rotations are really bad right now. The CPU won't start players on their secondary positions. If you look at Boston at the beginning they will start Theis at the 4 because he is their best option with PF as main position. But obviously Tatum, Morris and even Horford would be the better options there, all with PF as secondary position. If you change the main position of Morris to PF he will automatically start.
Same thing in Cleveland: Put Love as a 5, they will automatically start Frye. If you change Crowders position from 3 to 4 he will. But shouldn't they look at the guys with the alternate positions as well for the starting spots? Seems like something is off there.

I’m in year 2 of mygm with the Kings and I’ve enjoyed the hell out of the story. The offseason was filled with unpredictability. I agree with others saying the signings are kind of ridiculous but it made the league very interesting.

Durant and Bosh signed with the Hawks
Paul George went to Brooklyn
Chris Paul signed with the Pacers

Kind of a mess but very entertaining.

I've been doing 30 team control, playing as the Lakers only. I've built a few contending teams such as Cavs, Lakers, Raptors, Spurs, and Rockets.

I've been able to create some teams that are up and coming through trades. Right now I only have 3 terrible teams that are loaded with bad contracts but I gave them good picks in return. Those teams would include the Bulls (who are somehow over .500) , Hawks, Magic, and Kings. Theres at least one building piece at each team including huge amount of cap space in the coming years.


I'll probably start over and do a 30 team control starting with this season so I can control the contracts a little better.

- This happens only if you have Hard Cap ON - the NBA has no Hard Cap.
If you turn it off, no Star Player will sign for the minimum.
However, most of them will resign and not change teams.

With 30-Team-Control MyLeague is absolutely playable.

I've never done 30 team control, because I want to be responsible for competing as hard as possible to help MY TEAM and my team only. I'm not sure I'd have the self-control necessary to be truly fair and impartial in administering the league, and I don't think it's too much to ask that I not have to do this, but apparently not!

I already want to pump up the ratings on half of my Celtics, especially Terry Rozier, who has looked amazing in pre-season (along with Aron Baynes, Guerschon Yabusele and Semi Ojelye!), so how am I supposed to be fair in free agency and trades if I can't even do rosters fair?

If what you say is true about all those fixes, that's great news! Can anyone else confirm?

I haven't had problems with bird rights ever since launch..


The part about being in control of 30 teams allows you to make the game as real as possible. I find the games boring if I don't have a challenge. This year I've been beaten by the CPU at least five times.

Well it´s up to you how much of a challenge you want.

But in the end, the AI will always be exactly that: an AI.
It will never match your knowledge of how to run a Basketball organization.
And that´s why 30-Team-Control is by far the biggest addition to Franchise Modes. You can help the AI to even things out.

- I tested the Bird Rights in two different saves with the newest Patch, it works fine.
- One of the saves was a 8 years sim and I didn´t see the billion $ glitch.
- And those issues with Star Players signing for the minimum are because of the Hard Cap, it was even before the newest Patch.
With Hard Cap OFF, you won´t see that. Actually, you won´t see Superstars leaving their Teams at all.
Some Contracts for Role Players are still a bit too high and to keep your League balanced, you will need to adjust them.

MyLeague is absolutely playable now, but if you want it balanced and "realistic", you´ll need to adjust some things by yourself and 2K gives you all the options.
