    2K What Happened?

    To Whom it may concern,

First I would like to say that I am a yearly customer since 2K8. I have so many great memories from this game. So many great times with friends and family. So many great online matches(sometimes). I can overlook server issues here and there. A glitch here and there. Nothing is perfect. I also understand that you guys are creating a product to make money. You guys are a business first and foremost. The last 3 iterations(probably more) of 2k that have released have been either unplayable or broken in major fashion the first month of release. I can only recall the last 3 off the top of my head but i'm sure others have had the same fate. We all know that the servers have always been a problem. As a customer I am willing to throw down my $60 in spite of all of that. The game with all of those issues is still a wonderfully made game.

The game has now turned into pay to win freemium model. If you want to play competitively you have to spend money on VC for MyTeam packs/ attribute upgrades. Some may say you can grind out VC by just playing the game, but each year 2K raises prices of VC and lowers the amount you can earn. They look for every possible way to have a VC sink( haircuts/clothing/shoes/accessories). You not only have to pay expensive prices for these items but also if you want to make another character you have to buy them again. If you want a different hair cut you have to buy it again even if you have purchased it already. The people who play this game competively all spend more on VC than the game itself. THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM for me as a consumer. For the first time since i fell in love with the series I am considering not buying next year. And this makes me sad. It makes me sad that something i have had so many good times with has turned into the most unfair/ unsporting videogame of all time. The worst part about it is that it will not change as the demand is such that 2K can get away with doing this and make millions of dollars. And I don't blame 2K for trying to make as much money as possible. I hope consumers wake up and stop buying this game so the changes could happen. Call me what you will but this sucks and i hope someone from 2k reads this and addresses it for next year.

Thank you for the time you spend reading my rant.
    Have a blessed day.

I don't think they is anything we can do about. Video games as a whole is going this way. I just learned the other day. That FIFA.... FIFA is making 800 billion.... a day..... that's 800 billion A DAY. On Packs.... On packs of "video game player cards".

I'm getting married and I'm thinking about kids. But if I ever heard my kid spending on a game. I'd lose my ****.

800 billion a day? That can't be right. There are around 8 billion people on earth, which would mean the equivalent of every single person on earth dropping 100 every day. I just don't see how that figure can be remotely accurate.

Source? 800 Billion is way off. Apple and Microsoft don't make that.

Yea I was thinking the same. 800,000 or maybe 8 million. No way it's beyond that. I get soccer is the most popular sport in the world, but even that amount is beyond ridiculous. They could honestly own the world monetarily in less than 6 months

As of last year, all the Ultimate Team modes in EA games combined made $650 million in a given year. There's just no way $800 billion is even remotely close to accurate lol

            NBA: Bucks
            MLB: Cubs

this is just the beginning and it all about consumer demand, if people are willing to spend companies will make it for sale.

                Re: 2K What Happened?

But to respond to the OP's point, you can blame all of this on smart phone apps and people's stupidity to keep paying large amounts of money for almost nothing. They've set the standard for what 2K is doing with all of these micro transactions for pretty much ****ty games that you'd think people would only play just to pass the time while sitting on the toilet or waiting to be seen for a scheduled appointment.

For example, I love the dynasty warriors series. I somehow lost my copy of the latest game and didn't wanna shed out another 60 for because I didn't have the money. So I found a dynasty warriors app for android and these guys are offering packs 99.99 for scrolls that unlock random, unguaranteed characters, plus gold to buy more said scrolls. They make you pay in game currency just for unequipping weapons and accessories. Large amounts of it at that. Then in order to level up your characters skills, you have get more of the same said character, some that you can only get from these random scroll summons, which equals $$$$$$$$$ if you want a decent character.

I've read on reddit that these guys are spending thousands, yes thousands of dollars to get good characters and leveling them up, and they still somehow don't get what they want. Meanwhile, with all that money you could literally buy several consoles and buy just one dynasty warriors game that you can earn your way into getting EVERY CHARACTER, no leveling up skills, spend no extra money, all while getting better graphics and controls. I don't understand why you would do this and waste your money. But 2K has seen the light of how much more they could be making, and people are falling for it hook, line, and sinker.

That's totally my bad guys..... 800 million a year.

EA's Ultimate Team business new contributes $800 million in net revenue annually, up more than 20% year-on-year.

Again my fault. I'm going to leave the post above as is. Another in the long line of "jeebs misspells" lmao

                    Re: 2K What Happened?

It's why most games nowadays have these lootboxes where you gamble to get something good in them. It's borderline predatory and disgusting. But it'll continue because their pockets are getting stacked from people willing to lay the money down (I can't tell you how many people I've seen brag about how they've dropped like $100+ on microtransactions for boosts/lootboxes in some games).

Oh thank God. I thought FIFA was plotting world domination with that money. The US, Russia, and China wouldn't stand a chance lol.

There's plenty of other VC threads that this can go in we don't need a new one.
