Is Madden 17, w/o patches the greatest Madden gameplay ever ?

There is. Still doesn't take away from Madden 17 OOTB playing a pretty good game of football.

Its debatable that '17 is better or should I say more solid in the gameplay department than '16 mainly because of the qb AI regression that obviously is still an issue. You really have to have both and play them to form a valid opinion.It would be difficult based just off memory.I would prefer to like '17 better but for what it does better also comes alot of annoyances.

Not even close. Madden 16 before the spring patch was by far the best. Even the final patched version of M16 is better than 17 OOTB.

I play with the fully patched version which the final one was around mid to late July actually and it plays great.

The thing that some people remember '16 badly for is the spectacular catches being way to OP but at one point a patch really toned it down and at that point many may have traded it in or went on to something else.

I still play Madden 17 to this day.

Sure it isn't perfect, but the gameplay has left me more than satisfied.

I have to agree with this. Madden 16 QB AI was the best and that alone make it better than any other.
Madden 17 is still better than 2018 pre patched. With all patches I prefer madden 2018.

I feel like I was able to throw bombs all day and AC them with a lot of success in 16. Am I not remembering correctly?

For me, the most complete gameplay came from the old-gen Maddens, maybe Madden 05 or 10 for the PS2. I didn't have to worry about sliders. I didn't have to worry about getting a nonsensical animation or broken ragdoll physics. I dunno. Those games just felt so wholesome to me, even if they weren't graphically the best.

Stay far, far away from 18. Essentially, M18 looks exactly like 17, except 18 feels broken in many aspects. If you want updated commentary and the LA Chargers then by all means, go for it.

IMO, Madden 18 is far and away the best on-the-field online head-to-head Madden game Tiburon has ever built.

It's iteratively better than M17 in the single-player context, but for me it really shines in competitive play, be it in franchise, MUT, or what have you.

I would pay $40 tops for madden 18.
I refuse to play it. Lol. Waste of money.
