Prediction: While some improvements were made in the offseason I still just do not feel that it was enough to be confident in anything higher than the 6th seed unless a major move is made at the deadline. Reggie Jackson having a full offseason to rehab should mean a more productive year from himself and hopefully his BFF Andre Drummond as well.

Three weeks into the season the Detroit Pistons sit at 7-3 in what has been a surprising start to the season. We have won five of our last six games after starting the season 2-2. That one loss happened to be a dog fight in Oakland on the second half of a back to back. What I love most is the consistent hunger. No more playing down to the competition. Games against the Lakers and Kings were controlled from the opening tip. Games against contenders the Clippers, Warriors and Bucks all seemed out of reach in the second half, but this team NEVER QUITS FIGHTING! That is the biggest takeaway from the first ten games of 2017-2018.

          Other News
The Orlando Magic sit atop the eastern conference at 7-2 and the Memphis Grizzlies are a half game back in the west with the same record. Neither team was projected to make the playoffs coming into the season. Do you think it's a fluke or a sign of things to come?

          Player of the Week
October 15 - October 21: Giannis Antetokounmpo, DeMarcus Cousins
October 22 - October 28: LeBron James, Russell Westbrook
October 29 - November 4: Andre Drummond, James Harden

Hmm. I think the Magic have more staying power than the Grizz, just by nature of the conference they're in. Grizzlies are a tough out, though.

Good to see the Pistons starting off so well -- with East in its weakened state, they should grab a solid playoff spot. Nothing higher than the 6th seed likely, but I could see them as a 4th seed if things break their way.

              Rumor Mill

Eric Bledsoe: There is a new player and team in the Bledsoe saga and it's the Detroit Pistons. The Phoenix Suns have added Tyson Chandler to the trade block and shown interest in Reggie Jackson's hot start (they actually offered me Tyler Ulis and T.J. Warren for Reggie Jackson). Jackson is averaging 17 points and 8 assists while shooting 46% from the field, 35% from deep and 95% from the charity stripe. It is unknown whether or not the Pistons would be interested in a point guard swap. Management is in a tough position. Do you strike while the iron is hot at the risk of ruining team chemistry or do you have confidence that Reggie can keep up this level of play and make a move to improve in other areas later in the season? Receiving Tyson Chandler would also sure up the backup center spot and give the team some much needed leadership, toughness, and championship experience.
The Bucks continue to show interest, but remain unwilling to part ways with Malcolm Brogdon in any potential deal.

Wesley Matthews: The Dallas Mavericks are dead last in the west sitting at 2-9 and are looking to shake things up in Dirk's farewell season. Wes is averaging career worst in points, rebounds, FG%, 3P%, and turnovers. The Pelicans, Grizzlies, and 76ers all have shown interest, but only one of those teams really have the cap room and assets to grab Dallas' attention. Philly has the biggest need and the most wiggle room. J.J. Redick is out 6-8 weeks with knee tendinitis and they don't have much depth at the two spot.
              76ers receive: Wesley Matthews
Mavericks receive: Justin Anderson, 2018 2nd (CLE), 2018 2nd (LAC)
Dallas could pull the trigger now and begin tanking, wait it out for a better offer, or hell they may even turn it around and make the playoffs.

Chicago Bulls: Due to the impressive showing by Lauri Markkanen and the locker room brawl between Portis and Mirotic, somebody has to go! Nobody's sure which one it will be , but everyone is positive that a move will certainly be made soon.

"Sources say the Pistons are willing to deal Jackson under one condition..."

Sources close to the Pistons say that if Phoenix is also fine with swapping Tyson Chandler for Jon Leuer then the Jackson-Bledsoe deal is a go. The problem with that is while Leuer makes less money, he's under contract a year longer than Chandler. Phoenix would get a more versatile big who can stretch the floor at both the four and the five while also freeing up some playing time for Alex Len and Dragon Bender. Detroit would finally get a backup center who isn't a liability on the defensive end.
Pistons receive: Eric Bledsoe, Tyson Chandler
Suns receive: Reggie Jackson, Jon Leuer, 2020 1st (Celtics)

I agree with both points. I'm confident I can beat all but Cleveland in a seven game series. The Celtics are soft down low and I'm confident Avery Bradley can contain Kyrie. Bucks will be scary once Jabari Parker comes back though.

"This week was about showing maturity"

After a tough schedule last week with two back to backs the Pistons were able to breathe easy with Pacers and Hawks coming to town. They surprisingly made light work of both teams. This week was about proving that the culture has really changed. Too many times have the Pistons looked great against a contending team only to come out and lay an egg in a game that they heavily favored to win. Not this week! The only time they even trailed was 2-0 against Atlanta.

Reggie Jackson must've got word of the trade rumors and the Pacers paid for it. He dropped 34 points in 27 minutes and added 9 assists, 4 steals and a block on 14-20/2-3 from the field and deep respectively. He then lead the curb-stomping of the Hawks with 12 points, 12 assists and 0 turnovers on 5-7 FG and 2-3 3PT.

                    Other News
The Oklahoma City Thunder are currently 9-3 and third in west. Russell Westbrook has had a triple double in all nine victories.
The Rockets sit at 9-4 and Chris Paul has not suited up since the season opener.
Shockingly the Grizzlies are still on fire and the Magic are the one's who fell back down to Earth. While the Magic went on a four game skid with losses to the Celtics, Knicks, Suns and Nuggets, the Grizzlies are now 10-2 with their most recent victory being a 90-86 W over the Rockets.

                    Player of the Week
Nov 5 - Nov 11: John Wall (Wizards), James Harden (Rockets)

Edit: I wanna give you guys box scores and highlights, but 2K doesn't allow captures to be uploaded to Xbox Live.
