What post-season system do you use for your dynasty?

Do you use the standard BCS system? Do you use the mod to make 4-team playoffs? 8-team playoffs? 16-team playoffs?! Who qualifies for them? Do you flip a coin to determine your national champion?

I personally found trying to use the Editor to make a playoff system too difficult and time-consuming to do. So I'm trying to get some ideas on what other people do in their saves.

I'm thinking about just going into the Exhibition screen and simming a 16-team playoff with all 10 conference winners and the 6 highest-ranked teams without a conference championship (seeded by SOS, then re-seeded each round). The big downside with this of course is that it doesn't account for any attribute increases, injuries, or incoming recruits once you get past the first season.

    What do you do?

I use the editor and do 4 team playoff but I’m thinking of expanding to a 6 team playoff sometime between 2022 and 2024 (currently in 2021)

Don’t mean to hijack this thread but I’ve been trying to make a 4 team playoff for over a year and I get the same error message (link to picture of message) in the editor every time. Modio never works for me so I use the horizon method. Please help.

I’m on PS3, never heard of modio so I assume you’re on Xbox if I could help I would but I know nothing of that setup

I usually use the standard BCS system. I don't really have the time to sit down and figure out how to work the editor and I tend to use a lot of Teambuilder teams as well every once in a while, so I just stick to the standard BCS system. One day, I'll probably sit down and figure out the editor and run a dynasty using a playoff, but I'm still having fun without it.

I haven’t figured out how to mod but I don’t mind using the BCS system. Something about having to win EVERY week to be 1 or 2 at season’s end puts so much pressure on you. If you are down at the half, it’s nail biting time. Lose a game? You start scoreboard watching DURING your game.

I stick with the 4-Team playoff. It takes enough time as it is that I don’t see myself expanding it to six or eight teams any time soon.

I would love to use the 4-team playoff (especially after my latest season where 3 teams finished undefeated and my school was left sitting at #3), but I always run dynasties with teambuilder, so I have no choice but to use the BCS.

Does anyone know of a good way to export a dynasty roster into Exhibition?

I've wondered this myself. I had this idea that if you could export your dynasty roster, year after year, and do your own season in Play Now the way you see fit. You sim all the games, declare all the rankings, determine your own playoff (or put it to a vote as NolesFanatic17 did a few days ago) - basically be judge, jury, selection committee and everything in between. Granted, you would lose things like the Heisman race and overall stats (unless you wanted to determine the Heisman yourself, or put it to a vote, and keep the stats, year after year, for yourself).

And on another note, I've seen many say that sliders are totally different in Play Now; this makes me wonder how much time has been put into Play Now by the slider greats on this site or anyone else. I mean absolutely no disrespect in saying that, I just know that Dynasty has always been (and should have been) the main focus. So, this all makes me wonder if even greater gameplay might lie somewhere within a "Play Now Dynasty".

This is indeed possible! It was actually a lot easier than I expected.

                      1. Get to the point in the season where you want to save rosters (if you want to do playoffs, then sim to the start of Bowl Season). Take note of any attribute changes that occurred over the season to make sure they're still there when you're done.

                      2. Exit to the Main Menu, scroll over to Settings > File Management > Save, and then save a brand new roster file (I named mine 2013Playoff).

                      3. Quit the game, insert your USB drive, and copy over your dynasty AND your newly created roster file.

                      4. Import everything onto your computer using the applicable software for your console.

                      5. Open the Dynasty file in the NCAA DYNASTY EDITOR (the one with the purple and yellow icon). I have not tried it with the Generic Editor so I can't confirm if it works there.

                      6. Export the "Players" tab (it should be on that tab by default) and save it somewhere easy to access (I saved mine to the desktop as "players.csv").

                      7. Open the Roster file in the Dynasty Editor

                      8. Import your players.csv file into the Players tab of your Roster file. SAVE once the import is complete.

                      9. Exit the Dynasty Editor, copy everything back over to the console, and BOOM! You now have a roster file you can use in Play Now!

Note: I didn't try this with a Teambuilder school, so I have no idea if this method will work with those.

So if I wanted to run a spring game, I could basically do this and run a UNC vs. UNC game in exhibition?

                          Yup!

Something else I just thought of (for playoffs in Exhibition) is to take note of any injuries for the playoff teams and adjust their depth chart accordingly for each game.

I need to try my hand at the editor. So many people use it that it can't be that difficult. I have a dynasty where I'm attempting to do a promotion relegation thing but I neglect it. My longest running dynasty still uses BCS.

Same here, I️ use BCS but with the way my current season is playing out it’d be fun to look at schedules and figure out what teams should get a chance.
