It's Jimmy Football's time to shine, I'm expecting a big season out of him, especially with the write ups you had about some of his newfound offensive targets, though the biggest key will be getting your dual-headed rushing attack going to open up the defense and keep them guessing on every play!

Man tha schedule sends chills down my spine. Currently 4 unranked games. Looking over the team comparisons, to me it seems pretty even on paper Geezy. Think if you get Tompkins going early you can then go with someplayaction to open the receivers up. Good luck in game one sir.
Establishing the running game early will be key and I also think us getting an early score and/or early stop is important. Last year, they stole they momentum early and we never recovered, leading to them blowing us out at home. Once that spread no huddle of theirs starts off hot, it is hard to stop.
If Tony gets going early though and we can take advantage of what I think are some prime matchups between our passing game versus their nickle and dime corners and safeties, who all lack speed, we have a chance to roll in this one.
Appreciate it mang. Thanks for checking in!
Thanks bro...I am calling this one an early season must win; a loss would be absolutely devastating, both psychologically and in the conference standings.
One thing we're going to learn this season and beyond is that there aren't a ton of dominate teams at this point. There's just 2 or 3 teams rated as an 'A,' which I like a lot. Most of the good, top 40 or so teams are in the B to C+ range, so there's a TON of parity and almost every team has a weak spot or two, which I think more closely mirrors real life. Anything can happen!
Sure, I already have the dynasty report thread here if I want to take a trip down memory lane, but I like to also have the actual data saved as well.

I couldn't agree more that running the ball today will be the key to victory. Tony Tompkins and J.J. Williams are going to both get nice loads and I also want to get my true freshman 4-star RB Anthony Brown a few carries. I think it is important in a game like this to control time of possession and keep that aggressive spread no huddle offense of theirs on the sideline.
Appreciate the responses as always fellas...now it's time to pick up the joystick and finally kick off season #16!Click here to read my dynasty report:

Game 1, Year 16 (2025 season): #12 Tulane Green Wave at #24 Auburn Tigers
#1248 -- 1-0 (1-0)
#2429 -- 0-1 (0-1)
Senior RB Tony Tompkins celebrates with senior special teams ace, OLB Thomais Bonner, following Tompkins' second punt return touchdown of the evening.
For the second time in his career, Tony Tompkins shreds Auburn for two punt return touchdowns as #12 Tulane outlasts Tigers in 48-29 opening weekend victory | Senior running back finishes the game with 305 all-purpose yards and 4 long distance scores as Green Wave avenges last year's stunning upset loss | Redshirt senior DT Micah Harris makes a name for himself, leading Wave defense with 2 sacks in his first career start | Geezy's crew will need to clean up a few areas of sloppines with #2 Ohio State set the visit the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in colossal matchup next weekend
Auburn, AL -- Two years ago, a #12 ranked Tulane team went into Jordan-Hare Stadium and got two punt return touchdowns by then-sophomore RB Tony Tompkins on the way to dropping 48 points on home-standing Auburn in a 48-16 win in 2023. As the late great Yogi Berra once uttered, it was "de ja vu all over again" on Saturday, as the now-senior Tompkins duplicated his success as a sophomore, getting two punt return touchdowns while also adding two long offensive scores, leading the 12th ranked Green Wave to a dominate 48-29 victory over the 24th ranked Tigers. The former 4-star recruit from Cutler Ridge, Florida would go on to finish the game with 305 all-purpose yards and 4 touchdowns, both career-highs, as the Wave won its 12 season opening game in their past 13 tries under head coach D. Geezy.
Auburn's punt coverage unit had no answer for the speed of Tony Tompkins as this 69-yard punt return touchdown set the tone of the game late in the first quarter. Tompkins now has 5 career punt return touchdowns, with 4 of them coming at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
After playing most of the first quarter to a 3-3 stalemate, the electric Tompkins got the Tulane scoring spree going. His 69-yard punt return touchdown gave the Wave its first lead of the game at 10-3 with seconds remaining in the quarter.
On Auburn's very next offensive play from scrimmage, Tulane senior MLB Mario Young forced Tigers QB Antonio Nicholson to fumble and FS Terrell Faulk recovered, setting the Green Wave up in prime position to take control of the game. And that they did.
On the Wave's very first offensive play following the turnover, redshirt sophomore QB Jimmy McBride was able to find WR Adam Lawson wide open due to an apparent blown coverage for a 29-yard touchdown that made the score 17-3 with 0:10 to go in the first quarter.
"We wanted to go for the quick strike there, and it looked like there was some confusion between the corner and the safety on that side. I believe it was cover 2 but the safety wasn't on the same page and left Adam open for an easy score," said first year Tulane offensive coordinator Joe Roberts.
Late in the second quarter, Tompkins exploded through the Tigers' defense and out-raced everyone in a navy blue jersey for a 58-yard touchdown run to put his team up 27-6. Then, after the Tigers pulled to within 14 following a scoring connection from Nicholson to RB James Patterson, lightning struck again for Tompkins in the return game.
This time, the dynamic speedster took Tigers punter Adrian Marshall's kick for a career-long 76-yard return touchdown. It was Tompkins' 5th career punt return touchdown, as he returned three during his sophomore campaign and none all of last season.
"We made the switch to Tony just before the game. He came up to me on the bus ride to the stadium and told me he was 'feeling it' and wanted the shot and we gave it to him," said Geezy. "We didn't want to expose him to getting beat up back there, but we decided that they had a lot of problems stopping him in the return game the last time we were here so we gave him the chance and it worked out."
And Tompkins wasn't done there.
After Auburn was somehow able to climb its way back into the game, aided in part by an interception thrown by McBride which led to a 1-yard touchdown run by Nicholson, Tompkins went for the death knell.
This time, with the game on the line, Tompkins took a handoff from McBride, found the edge and blew past the line of scrimmage and secondary for a 70-yard touchdown that made the score 41-22 with 6:39 remaining.
The Green Wave defense, who had been stout most of the night, would go on to give up more big plays in the game's final quarter, including a 43-yard touchdown pass from Nicholson to FB Donnie Walker that made it a 12-point game once again with 5:25 remaining. However, once again, it was the Tulane return game that bailed them out.
Redshirt senior DT Micah Harris, 5-11 331 pounds, waited patientely for 5 years to get on the field and made a name for himself with his 7 tackle, 2 sack performance.
This time, with his team clinging to a 41-29 lead with over 5 minutes remaining true freshman WR Grant Brady took Auburn's ensuing kickoff 97 yards to the house. The score was Brady's first of his career, and the top wide receiver recruit in the nation this past off-season put the game away for good for his team in his first career game.
After Brady's score, the Wave would finally put a halt to the late Tigers' scoring success and would not surrender anymore points the rest of the game. The story of the defense was the surprising play of redshirt senior and first year starting DT Micah Harris, who finished the evening with 7 tackles and 2 sacks on the evening.
"I thought Micah was absolutely outstanding, a real pleasant surprise in the interior today," said Tulane defensive coordinator Karl Dunbar. "Not only was his pass rush production great tonight, but he also showed a lot of hustle on run plays. He's 5-11 331 pounds, 315 if you ask him, but he's a load and if he keeps playing like this, watch out."
Tulane (1-0) will host #2 ranked Ohio St. next weekend at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in a huge early season matchup. Geezy knows his squad must improve if it hopes to pull off the upset.
"There was a lot to be excited tonight but we have a ton of things to clean up," said Geezy.
"I was happy with the special teams and the running game, but we need to protect the ball better in the passing game and also tackle better defensively. We won't get away with the mistakes we made tonight next week against a team like Ohio St."
Notes: Tulane sophomore FB J.J. Williams left the game in the third quarter with a shoulder injury and was unable to return to the game. Head coach D. Geezy declined to comment on the severity of the injury however indicated that it would require treatment during the week. True freshman RB Anthony Brown also left the game in the first half with an apparent elbow injury, however team sources indicated the injury is not believed to be serious in nature...Tulane's 48 points were the second most scored in a season opener under Geezy. The team's previous high was its 51 points scored in a 51-29 opening day road win over Idaho in 2014 in what was the debut game of eventual star RB Reggie Moore.
RB Tony Tompkins kept the Auburn crowd quiet most of the evening, finishing with 305 all-purpose yards and 4 total touchdowns.

Auburn players were champing at the bit to race out of the tunnel and face Tulane, who they beat last season at the vaunted Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
Tigers fans were amped up to see their up-and-coming team, who opened up ranked #24 in the nation to start the 2025 season.
Auburn punter Adrian Marshall had no shot at catching RB Tony Tompkins in the open field on this early 69-yard punt return touchdown that gave the Green Wave a 10-3 lead.
One play following a turnover, Wave QB Jimmy McBride was able to diagnose a coverage bust in the Auburn secondary and find sophomore WR Adam Lawson wide open for a 29-yard touchdown that extended Tulane's lead to 17-3 late in the first quarter.
McBride celebrates his only touchdown pass of the evening here, but had a somewhat up and down game overall, finishing with 170 passing yards, 1 touchdown, and 2 interceptions.
Tigers senior RB Jonathan Robinson broke a few big runs and leaps over a Wave defender here on his way to finishing with 105 rushing yards on 19 carries.
One of the biggest surprises of the evening was the play of redshirt senior DT Micah Harris (#50 above). In his first action as a starter, the 5-11 331 pound North Carolina native finished the game with 7 tackles and here celebrates one of his 2 quarterback sacks on the evening.
Auburn DE Marque Williams, who finished the game with 2 sacks, plowed McBride as he released this pass and it landed in the awaiting hands of Tigers FS Taylor Carter. The turnover set up a 1-yard touchdown a few plays later that made the score 34-22 early in the fourth quarter.
Senior RB Tony Tompkins put an exclamation point on his day, burning the Auburn defense on this 70-yard touchdown run that made the score 41-22 with 6:39 remaining.
Tigers DT Byron Garrett gave the Green Wave fits in last season's Auburn upset and he enjoyed similar success on Saturday, finishing the game with this sack along with several quarterback pressures.
True freshman WR Grant Brady had a quiet day on offense, however he made up for it with this back-breaking 97-yard kickoff return touchdown that made the score 48-29 and put the game away. The score was Brady's first of his career.

Great first win! McBride has to protect the ball if next week's gonna be a game. Can't wait to see the result.
That boy Thompson's good. What an announcement. He just put the conference and the country on notice. Wowza. Hope he pulls through against OSU.Comment

Definitely a great win to start the season, but relying on three special team TDs is not very realistic going forward. That's going to put a lot of pressure on McBride to come through against Ohio State next week. Hopefully he's up to the task but apparently he's got a great set of weapons around him.
Speaking of McBride, that picture of his interception that you got is fantastic! Seeing the hit happen in the background and the interception in the foreground is great photography!Comment

Re: Coach Geezy in the Big Easy: Our City, Our Team | Part II - The Golden Age of Tul
Tompkins with a stellar game. Crazy you went so long without a punt return and now have had 5 in 3 seasons with Tompkins, 4 in the same stadium. Punt returns are the one thing in all NCAA games that I have no idea how people return them for TD's. I've only returned one on NCAA 14 despite playing it for over 4 years.
Also, Bama gave up 21 points after giving up 88 all through the regular season last year.Comment

Big win. Definitely don't want to have to rely on something as volatile as special teams week in and week out, but at least lets you get a good feel for your personnel before you really get into the murderer's row of a schedule you have.Check out my Pitt Panthers Dynasty (NCAA Football 14)

That is what I'm talking bout right there coach!!! Start the year off with a bang putting the country and more importantly the SEC on notice. Tony!!! hope this is just the start of a special season for himComment

I came into the year a little concerned about our defensive backfield, and that fourth quarter didn't do much to change that.
I think McBride's turnovers were a result of the new playbook. I haven't gotten confident just yet with the plays we're running, but I guess that's somewhat realistic.

Glad you like the picture of McBride; I put a little extra effort into making sure I captured both the cause and effect all in one shot. Finding good camera shots after plays has really become a fun sub-hobby of mine in this dynasty report business.

The second factor is I just finally have confidence and technique. I've figured out how to make that first guy miss and how to bait that next wave of defenders into a certain angle and then I quickly change directions on them without losing speed. There's only been a couple of players on my teams that have had that perfect combination of agility to change direction quickly, acceleration, and the top end speed needed to succeed on punt returns. Tompkins and Deuce are both just special players.
Alabama has lost a lot of talent on the defensive side of the ball, including 4 superstars in their defensive backfield. Their team is still loaded, but they shouldn't be absolute gods on defense this year.
Really looking forward to this Ohio St. matchup. They look good on paper, but as you'll see in a few days when I post the preview, they certainly have some vulnerable spots for us to take advantage of.
And who knows...a couple more performances like this last one, and he could find himself in New York come December.Click here to read my dynasty report:

Tulane | Tulane snags nation's top passer Tyler and 4-star RB Jenkins

Eve Jewell of TulaneInsider.com reports that Tulane has landed two of the biggest prizes of this year's early signing period, getting committments from Louisiana 5-star QB Ryan Tyler (6-0, 203, 5.02 40-time, #1 rated QB) and Georgia 4-star RB Teddy Jenkins (6-2, 184, 4.36 40-time, #5 rated RB).
Tyler, a Raceland, Louisiana native, is the nation's #1 overall quarterback prospect this season and #20 rated player overall. The stud signal caller threw for 4,210 passing yards last season as a junior at Central Lafourche High School along with 36 passing touchdowns and only three interceptions. A classic drop back passer, Tyler is not known for his legs, and reportedly ran an abysmal 5.02 40-time during an off-season workout this past summer.
"Ryan is not a guy that's going to run around and create with his legs. He's only 6-0, but he does a fantastic job of standing in the pocket and making accurate throws and has an absolute cannon of an arm," said ESPN recruiting analyst Gerry Hamilton on air after the news broke.
Jenkins, on the other hand, is considered to be one of the fastest running backs in the nation, clocking in with a reported 4.36 40-yard dash. The Marietta, Georgia native would have an opportunity to compete immediately for playing time, with the Green Wave set to lose senior RB Tony Tompkins after this season.

Williams was injured after taking this handoff from QB Jimmy McBride during last week's win at Auburn.
Tulane | FB Williams to miss home opener
Wed, 10 Sep 2025 18:11:07 -0700
report courtesy Dianna Russini, ESPN
Dianna Russini of ESPN reports that Tulane FB J.J. Williams (82 ovr), after missing a second straight day of practice with a shoulder injury, is not expected to suit up for the team's pivotal game 2 matchup at home versus #2 Ohio St. Williams, expected to play a bigger role in the team's running game this season under first year offensive coordinator Joe Roberts, was injured during the team's 48-29 win last weekend at Auburn.
A Jonesboro, Louisiana native and the nation's #1 high school fullback prospect in 2024, Williams rushed for 435 yards and 3 touchdowns last season in his first year with the Wave.
Senior FB/TE Carl Booker (78 ovr), who was the team' starting fullback in 2023 and current long snapper, will take over the starting lead blocker role again in Williams' absence while true freshman RB Anthony Brown (78 ovr) will take over as the #2 ball carrier behind starting RB Tony Tompkins (82 ovr).

Tulane | 4-star FS Burnette to visit this weekend
Wed, 10 Sep 2025 07:19:21 -0700
report courtesy Meghan Kluth, TulaneInsider.com
Meghan Kluth of TulaneInsider.com reports that New Jersey 4-star FS Jesse Burnette (6-1, 204, 4.32 40-time, #8 rated FS) will be visiting Tulane for this weekend's game versus Ohio St. Perhaps not coincidentally, Burnette recently announced on his twitter page that the Green Wave and the Buckeyes are his top two schools he is considering, and he plans to visit Columbus the following weekend for Ohio St.'s game versus Illinois.
The Pleasantville, New Jersey native would add much-needed speed to the Green Wave secondary should he elect to take his talents to New Orleans.
