What would prevent you from buying Madden 19?

Every year Madden sees the same cycle, usually ending in its' release at the end of August before the much anticipated NFL season kicks off.

Typically a few months before that, EA will start releasing information and new additions in the game to get fans pumped.

And even preceding that are fans making their wishlist and holding out for the "next big thing"...

This year for Madden 18, it was a little different with things like:

    1. The addition of the much anticipated Frostbite Engine

    2. The huge emphasis on not showing any game play until a few weeks prior

    3. No demo (nothing new)

    4. The releasing of information really close to the release

    5. The new "linear story" of Longshot

The reason for these is left unknown, yet in the end we were given Madden 18.

Since the release of Madden, EA has received a ton of criticism, and even petitions for them to lose their license for certain titles, and even boycott the company entirely.

With all of the event that have taken place and having hands on experience with Madden 18, my questions are:

What would prevent you from purchasing Madden 19?

    or

What would it take for you to purchase Madden 19?

I’m really nervous we might go the way of 2ks MyLeague Online.

    “Streamlined” Franchise mode.

    And... sigh... Keepers.

Pushes the Fantasy Football aspect that MUT follows.

    It’s my greatest fear.

It’s sad to say, but the question for me is: what won’t keep me from buying M19?

M18 is a good game but a terrible football game. I’m tired of this weird blend of animation/physics based football, something that can be reworked with a longer development cycle. That cycle will never come because of the licensing agreement.

I might buy Madden 18 if they worked Superstar back into the mix, and I’m talking ‘09, ‘10 Superstar. But otherwise, I’m not looking forward to Madden 19 unless the game receives rave reviews from those who actually play the game for fun instead of those paid to play it.

A non updated CFM. If we get the same thing as this year I won't buy the game.

I get my fill off of a few days redboxing. I really don’t see myself getting madden 19 unless I can get it for half price or less and the NFL announces the end of the exclusive.

            In other words, not likely.

Not much really. While most decry the developers' "lack of" and "why didn't they just" or some other voice of frustration, my value judgement rests more on what they get right vs what they get wrong.

I enjoy the game, but don't play it all that often, and only play solo CFM. So if there was one thing that ripped me away from the 'buy now' button next fall, it would be an unforseeable, patent disregard for my style of gaming. Like, removing CFM altogether sort of disregard...

Accept for me actually playing the game a whole lot, this is my take exactly.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

If they fix formation subs, fix CFM roster management for cpu controlled teams, fix cpu playcalling, continue to improve QB play and don't break anything else along the way I'll buy it. If not I'll just keep playing 18 if I need to play a football game

If CFM isn't totally overhauled in ways that align with what I want in a sports game, which is not at all the direction they seem to be taking things, I'm going to have no reason to buy another Madden game. It's just not fun for me anymore.

Only if I can't get it at a much less reduced price at launch.

Nothing really, as I always get Madden. I picked M18 up for 20$ Black Friday. It's easily worth that. I was just as content playing M17 for my football fix until 18 hit the vault. If M19 is as minimally improved as M18 was Id have no problem doing this again. Plus, a lot of good games come out the last quarter of the year so its not like there's a lack of options. This is a far cry from where I was years ago when I preordered Madden and looked forward to it every year. 20$ is about where Madden is at value wise for me being an offliner. I'm not spending 60$ on a game I can't even finish the trial of. I'm not gonna beg a company to deliver what I want in a product. Ill just spend my time and money elsewhere. No harm, no foul. I honestly don't care anymore whether they implement the amazing franchise I (and others) want. It would be great if they did. They have the talent to. But, whatever... I accept it as what it is and value it accordingly.

It's kind of funny because that $20 dollar price point was a big factor in EA getting the exclusive license. I do agree with you though it is a 20 dollar game. It has very little resale value after the first couple of months. What would stop me from getting it at launch though would be a divorce as my wife buys it for me at launch every year. At best buy witb trading in last year's game and throwing in another not played anymore game you can get to that price point at launch.
